Took me some effort to narrow it down to 5 votes this time around. Lots of really cool interpretations of the theme on display here. I voted for (in no particular order):
MobileSuitRandom: This is a really cool little vignette, these two facing off against one another. But who is the saint, and who is the sinner...?
maxwin: That C'tan model is really cool; I've liked it ever since GW previewed it, and you really did it justice.
Jamie Shred: I'm not sure which game system those guys are from (Malifaux?), but it hardly matters because you made them look amazing!
Chris56: Looks like Slaanesh corrupted some Stormcast Eternals or something. The bright, gaudy colors really sell it. Excellent work!
Ezki: You're making me want to start collecting and playing Necromunda (stop it! ). Those might be some of the best Escher gangers I've seen yet!

Really, everyone did very well. We all got more models out of our piles of shame and got to show them off, so in that sense we all win whenever we finish an entry. Shout out as always to Paradigm for getting these going, and to Nevelon for helping run it while Paradigm is indisposed (hope that situation improves soon!).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Thanks zergsmasher, they will be used in the Carnevale game system by ttcombat. Its a skirmish game set in a semi historically accurate late 1700s venice and the Vatican have a big part in the story as well as their own faction. Very cool ruleset with a big focus on movement including climbing and jumping with melee attacks from 3 inches or higher giving bonus armour penetration (which incidentally the Vatican are not very good at).
Models are from heresy labs redeemers range.

Another set of great entries this month. As always, I voted for models that stuck closest to the theme (as I interpreted it), but really everyone deserves a vote. And since we all like receiving comments on our work, here's one for each of us.

Nevelon: The red cloths and warm skin tones contrast quite nicely with the white armor on the battle sister, while the fire in the braziers give the unit a sense of continuity. Have you considered lightening up the base of the flames?

JoshInJapan: good job, me!

MobileSuitRandom: I like the sickly skin tones on the dude in the Penitent Engine, and the regal colors on the psyker. All the different textures on the bases make the entire model more interesting, as well.

Rybrook: Having everyone wearing the same colors helps sell the idea of the unit as a gang (as in "gang colors"). Some spot color here and there might make each model feel more individual.

maxwin: The Necron green OSL stands out well against the cool grey skin. I really like how you did the heart-- it looks positively radioactive.

Jamie Shred: The white and purple on the male figures is quite striking, while the black and white nun and the brown executioner seem appropriate for those roles as well. I like your flames, as well.

Captain Brown: Your white is amazingly smooth and crisp, and the lines on the banner look like they were drawn by a machine. I wish my hands were that stready.

Freya: The directional highlights/reflections on the staff, chest eagle, and skull kneepad are a nice subtle touch. I'll have to try that sometime.

Jadenim: The patches of flame stand out nicely against the classic black and red of the sisters. The purple roses are a nice touch, as well.

Vejut: As I mentioned in an earlier post, I admire your willingness to attempt the diaphanous robes. That looks like an impossibly difficult effect to pull off.

Pariah Press: The drab earthtones fit these models perfectly-- it's like they've been out there preachin' and fightin' for years, with little concern for appearances.

endtransmission: The splashes of yellow contrast nicely against the drab military colors on the rest of the model. Your work on his face make him look mischievous, like he's been up to something.

Archer: nice work on a gross model. The drab green of the model complements the bright green slime on the base, and the warm colors of the nurglings make the whole model feel happy, somehow.

Tyranid Horde: The black armor and plain brown of the coat/mantle/whatever give the model a businesslike aspect, while the red gloves add just a touch of something that I can't quite find a word for. Whimsey? Danger?

Yorkright: The use of red highlights on the black is an inspired choice.

ZergSmasher: I love the skullface on this model. It adds some extra menace to an already menacing model. It doesn't hurt that it matches your Dark Angels color scheme perfectly.

JustALittleOrkish: Purple and green shouldn't work, but it does. The blue and yellow stripes on the bases are a cool, sporty touch as well.

Viterbi: Samwise looks great. I'm glad you were able to recreate the frying pan.

Argive: Lovely subtle shading on the bones. The dark purple on the loincloth and the plume add some nice contrast to the black while keeping the whole model dark.

E3DD: I like the stark edgehighlights on the black armor-- they'll be visible at tabletop distances but they don't overwhelm the armor. The bright red loincloth is just the right amount of ostentatious for this model.

Chris56: You have chosen a lovely Slaaneshi color palette. The NMM is great-- far beyond what I can do-- and the blue wings are great. It must have been terribly hard to pick out all the feathers like that.

DV8: I like your choice of off-whites and ochers for this model instead of the usual white. It feels like he's really in the desert, with sunlight reflecting off of the sand.

feltmonkey: I like the pale green armor against the purple and blue wings. Nice work on the marble base, as well.

Ezki: A very nice pair of models. I really like the mirrorshades.

Arakasi: You integrated the hair onto that helmet quite nicely. The Wonder Woman colors are a nice touch.

Maharg: The corrosion on the chainsaw is a great choice for this model. It looks like it's seen a lot of use.

Paradigm: The muted color palette really works for these models. It's like they are really out in the woods hunting fairy tale witches and monsters.

MangoChutney: a nice take on classic chaplain colors.

Turaxa: That monk looks like he means business. I like the darker trim around the hem of his robes.

Midget Gems: I like the blue steel armor. It looks well cared for but not at all ornamental, as appropriate for bada$$ fighters.

Modok: Nice NMM, but I really like the the dirt on the boots, loincloth, and cape.

Deadshot: I like how dark the apostles scrolls are, like they've been attached to his armor for centuries. They really sell the age of the character.

everyone: Nice, inspirational work all around. I am looking forward to what everyone does for December!

I considered doing more with the flames. I’ve done more detailed fire work in the past. But at the stage I was at, I kinda liked what I had and had to evaluate the odds of me just screwing it up vs. improving it. And I was running out of time. So I just left it as-is.

I use that same rationale all the time. If it would take a fair amount of work and might end up making something worse, I leave it and call it good enough.

You know I knew that, while I was highlighting I noticed there is a faint outline on a couple of their tabards, as I was close to the deadline I left them out with fear of ruining the paint, I may fix them at a later time as I have 7 more to complete.

I agree with both of you. When the choice is between "getting it perfect" and "getting it done," done is quite often the better option.

Usually limit myself to 5 votes a month but found it difficult to decide on just 5 so I went a bit over for a change.

Thanks Josh, I appreciate the feedback, the red gloves were to mimic the Chapter iconography and the lore about Dorn getting his hands chopped off.

I have dropped a few votes on the entries with gallery entries as of this post and I'll follow suit with Josh and give some comments

Nev: Really like the dark tones you've gone for with the repentia and they contrast nicely with the Mistress' white armour. My only comment would be to tidy the base rims!

Josh: Really like how you've done both sides of the coin with your entry, the wings in particular on the seductress have a nice tonal variety, and the abbess has a cool shadow cast over her face.

MobileSuitRandom: Big fan of the Psyker, great mini and the colours you picked compliment the sculpt nicely. The penitent engine has a lovely aged white that I like.

Rybrook: Lovely old sculpts and they stand out as a cohesive unit. I'm a fan of the facemasks, they're not a flat black and the heavy in the group is my favourite.

Maxwin: You've done a stunning mini justice and I like the extra texture you've added on the body as the sculpt changes across the body. Great work on the metallics too.

Jamie Shred: I like the bases, they've got some cool variation and the browns you've painted on the minis themselves are the standout for me.

Captain Brown: Lovely smooth and crisp whites going on and I love the retro banners you've done and gives the warrior a knightly feel.

Freya: I like your use of blending throughout and the wingspan gives the mini an imposing stature. The face feels a little bit shocked which I think could be the sculpt?

Jadenim: Two great sculpts painted up well in their classic schemes. The red on their clothing and flames are well done.

Vejut: The first thing that catches my eye is the priestess with the transparent clothing, I think you've done well in expressing the form beneath the clothing, very impressive.

Pariah Press: Classic Witchhunters! They've got a grimdark feel and they all look cohesive. Kohler's chainsword has some excellent hazard stripes on it.

endtransmission: Would have loved some more shots of the mini, but the black coat has some goood weather beaten texture to it and the flashes of bright tones make the model pop.

Archer: Like the glossy base contrasting with the muted tones of the model itself and the verdigris on the weapon arm is appropriate for a Nurgley monster.

Tyranid Horde: Nice to get a model completed after 3 months or so. Not sure about the green hourglass, maybe I should have attempted a glassy surface.

Yorkright: The muted red highlights do wonders on this model and have some good contrast with the greenish-blue hues of the details you picked out.

ZergSmasher: Another Judiciar and it's cool to see the approach you've taken with it. I like your hourglass' sand, I wish I'd done something similar with my own.

JustALittleOrkish: Good choice of bright colours, they stand out well and look a great team.

Viterbi: Lovely work on Samwise, you've got some great definition on such a tiny sculpt!

Argive: The basing really sets Maugan off and the work on the bone is well done. I'm pleased you straightened out the Maugater, it helps the overall look of the mini.

E3DD: I like that you've gone with a non-gold Stormcast. Your basing adds to the mini's pose like he's conjuring something from the earth. Clean paint job and highlights.

Chris56: As someone with a few Stormcast lying around, I needed to see something like this to get me motivated to do some kitbashing! Love the purple NMM armour and the green is fantastic, as is the freehand on the shield.

DV8: Lovely work, I like the subject, theming and the gradient on the shield looks fantastic. The base is very well done too.

feltmonkey: The geologist in me is pleased to see your marbling came out well and adds a regal touch to the mini you've painted. Very well done.

Ezki: These are a real treat, great sculpts coupled with some great colour choices and I like the bluish notes to the trousers.

Arakasi: Liking how you've done the skin on this Aelf, meshes well with the red and blue, and the collarbones are very striking.

Maharg: Great work on the text on the scroll and the weathering on the chainsword is very well done.

Para: These guys give me a Darkest Dungeon vibe with the way you've painted them up, dark and full of character.

MangoChutney: Solid classic chaplain scheme and will help me paint up my own in the next few days. Liking your penmanship on the parchment, did you use a brush or micropens?

Turaxa: I like the light base against the darker monk. He has a fanatical look to him and I enjoy the flaming stick.

Midget Gems: Nice squad with some great spot colours in the cloaks and the and the trim. The greyish-black armour is a neat choice too.

Modock: Nice to see you working with oils, you've yielded some great results. Big fan of the basing, cape and the NMM.

Deadshot: Nice job with the theming and the duality of Word Bearers and Blood Ravens. Both look great and hope you get the Apostle's staff sorted!

Didn't have time to enter this month, which is really annoying because I was going to break away from my usual Eldar and paint something I've wanted to paint for ages: Sororitas. Ah well, maybe I'll enter them for the Christmas contest...

I was unable to stop myself voting for 14 entries this month, so well done everyone for keeping the quality up. My absolute favourites were:

Freya - I'm a sucker for vibrant, colourful models, and this is an absolute treat! Love the colour choices, the conversion looks great, the details are gorgeous and the lighting effects and reflections superb! The only criticism I can come up with is the choice of mainly blue lighting for the reflections and then making the spear/staff head glow orange. It's just a bit of a disconnect, but otherwise a superb effort this month.

Maxwin - You're really making a name for yourself with painting monstrous sized models and this month is another cracker! The traditional necron glowing green and dull metal look great, as does the OSL, but for me the real winner in this is the beautiful and subtle work on the grey skin. Absolute perfection!

Ezki - I'm a long-term fan of Escher, so I just had to have your excellent models in my top three. Everything about your paint jobs hangs together really well, from the colour choices of pink/violet, blue and tan/gold, to the glowing plasma coils and reflective glasses, to the realistic skin tones and subtle shading. Really nice models that would grace any model cabinet or necromunda gaming table.

Well done everyone for another great month!

Thank you for the comments Joshin Japan, Tyranid Horde and CancelledApocalypse! Really appreciate it.

A few mentions:

Tyranid horde: Great work on the freehand and I love that cloak!

Chris56: Like I said in the contest thread, that diamond effect is beyond awesome. Works really well with the purple armour. Tasty models indeed.

Freya: Great model once again! The contrast between the different colors and tones is working wonders. I also like the effect on the staff.

Modock: I like the dark theme, even though it differs from your usual style. The cloth pieces especially caught my eye.

Feltmonkey: The muted tones compliment the model well. The base is real eye candy.

Great work everyone! It brings me much joy to see all the great entries at the end of each month, especially during these dark times.

Hi All, not done a full comment set in a while so will take the time to do one now.

Nevelon- Good Work Nev, I like the shiny wax
JoshInJapan - Nice combination of Models, the visuals are on point for distinguishing the good v bad.
MobileSuitRandom - looks like really nice detail on the Penitent Engine, a shame the front model out of focus in the dual shots
Rybrook - A classic gang and good blue blue to bring them together as a gang
maxwin- The green is really striking and a cool blending into the gray skin.
Jamie Shred - Really like those models, they almost have a cartoony painting which I find interesting.
Captain Brown - Nice clean white on this one and good gems.
Freya - Some really interesting colors and a lot going on with the model, very well done.
Jadenim - The shiny black armour looks very cool
Vejut - Fun combination of models
Pariah Press - Impressed with the look of the books/scrolls and the writing on them
endtransmission - I like the yellow spot color to contract the muted blacks and browns
Archer - This thing is disgusting (well done its really effective)
Tyranid Horde - Very cool model and the leather looks great
Yorkright - Good effort on the color change for the raised/highlighted areas.
ZergSmasher - again a cool model, the painting on the hour glass is very effective
JustALittleOrkish - A very bold and striking colour scheme, you have nice depth to the pink skin
Viterbi- Awesome model pick, would have liked a close up of the painting because hes so small Sam looks a little lost in the wider scenery shots.
Argive - Interesting slimy green base to add contrast to the purple of the model
E3DD - The model and the base have a real sense of drama.
Chris56 - Wow Chris, epic painting. Lovely blending and you have really thought about the colors
DV8 - Like I said in the main thread I really dig this one. Model on first glance looks simple but if you look into it you can see the skill and thought that has gone into the painting,
feltmonkey - Good transition of colors on the wing and the Marble effect on the base came out very well in the end
Ezki - Good bright colors which suit the Eschers perfectly
Arakasi - The skins is very nicely highlighted, well done
Maharg - His face did make me laugh but it also very life like. Top points for effort on the tiny freehand Aquila on the scroll
Paradigm - Well done for keeping your run going. Your grim dark style suits the Witch hunters perfectly
MangoChutney - Good edge highlighting and attention to detail on the model
Turaxa - Well done for getting an entry in, I like the fire on the torch
Midget Gems - Tabletop standard painting for these, still getting things in and painted which is the main thing for me.
Modock - Base looks great and the different in black materials is wonderful
Deadshot - Nice contrast in models, when side by side the Dark Apostles base looks really small for the model.

Viterbi- Awesome model pick, would have liked a close up of the painting because hes so small Sam looks a little lost in the wider scenery shots.

Thanks Midget Gems! I wanted to give some sense of his scale, but also he doesn't do well on closeup pictures

That should be it for voting. We got saints, we got sinners, we have winners!

At 25 votes each we have a tie for third. feltmonkey’s Saint Hazael on the side of the righteous, and Ezki’s Escher gangers on the flip side of the morality axis. Amazing work from both.

In second is DV8’s Templar. Good? Evil? He’s a knight with a quest in the Holy Lands.

And in 1st place is Chris56’s Chaos warband. When you worship the ruinous powers is it really sin? You are just following your god’s dictates to live a life of decadence and chaos... Morality aside, amazing paintjob on these guys!

As always amazing work from all who entered. This is a great group of painters, and it’s amazing to see how well everyone does every month.

Don’t forget that December is the open month. Let’s end 2020 with a bang people, break out your projects and let’s get painting!

Another great month!

Nevelon - One of your best entries, I reckon. Good work on all the details.

JoshInJapan - Good solid work. The demon is comfortably the better of the two, in my opinion.

MobileSuitRandom - Nice job on two very detailed models. I like how grim and gritty the engine is, and the psyker's face.

Rybrook - A cool little squad. They look coherent and individual at the same time.

maxwin - Very nice. All the super-vibrant green is very well done.

Jamie Shred - I'm impressed that you painted five such detailed models in a month. They look good, a kind of ecclesiastical attack squad.

Captain Brown - Super clean work. Painting white is never easy. Great work on the stripes on the flags.

Freya - One of my favorites this month. Deserved more in the voting, I reckon. I love how colourful it is, the spectacular black wings, the glow effects on the weapons. It's great!

Jadenim - Again, good job on all the details. A lot of people have wrestled with the sisters of battle this month.

Vejut - Really characterful, old-school minis. I like the transparency effect on the priestess' robe, that's really well-done.

Pariah Press - A cool squad. Good scroll work.

endtransmission - I like the yellow spot colour, and the face is excellent.

Archer - Nice work on the gross and gribbly bits of this mini!

Tyranid Horde - Nice neat work on an imposing mini. The leather looks excellent!

Yorkright - The red highlights look great! Metallic green always screams tinsel at me though.

ZergSmasher - Another Judiciar. I like the almost black and white colour scheme you've used. Some of the details look a bit rushed or coul do with a bit of tidying up. The hourglass looks cool.

JustALittleOrkish - Crazy colours, and nicely-executed. I like the bases a lot.

Viterbi - Great work hitting all the details on what is a teeny-tiny little model. I know because I've painted him myself.

Argive - Good neat work. Blue highlights on the black work well.

E3DD - Good clean work, and a nice solid colour scheme. It might be worth taking a few photos from different angles - the first three are all kind of the same.

Chris56 - Absolutely amazing, clearly the standout entry this month. The conversion work alone on these monopose miniatures is impressive enough, but the paintjob is outstanding. I love everything about it.

DV8 - Not as eyecatching as some of your other entries, but still beautifully painting. Your understanding of light is exceptional.

Ezki - Very cool, lovely painting, I'm particularly impressed with the trousers, for some reason.

Arakasi - Nice painting on the skin. She reminds me of Wonder Woman, oddly.

Maharg - A cool, very characterful miniature. He reminds me of a priest I used to know. He would wave a chainsaw around while shouting as well.

Paradigm - Again, very cool and characterful. Loads of narrative on them.

MangoChutney - Good work, very neat and detailed. I like the stippling pattern on the loincloth.

Turaxa - You said in the thread it was a bit of a quick job. It could do with some tidying up, but you've painted the eyes, and you've managed to get the flames the right way up. I always want to put the lighter parts at the top.

Midget Gems - Good clean, detailed painting. Solid work.

Modock - Looks great. You said the armour was the first time you've used oils, right? Amazing job in that case, it looks fantastic.

Deadshot - Nice work, the chaplain is my favorite of the two, really clean edge highlights on there.

Well done everyone, and thanks to everyone who voted for me and especially posted comments.
