This guy just exited the pool, and I learned I can run away from nature really really well.
Anyone know what this guy is? He's a quick swimmer too.

Realised I shared the north carolina one, here's the florida variant https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/florida-snake-id/snake/southern-watersnake/
Still, probably best to leave it alone and let it just go on its way.

It's having a wee bit of trouble finding his way out of our screened in pool...area. He's done a couple laps.
I like the Florida update which specifically mentions not to molest snakes.

Beautiful looking creature. The patterning reminds me of all those coconut crab tyranids you see getting around in the last year or two.

As a lifetime Floridian, I don't believe that one's venomous. I also urge you not to test that theory- snakes have a surprising color variation. You can try propping open a door of your pool enclosure, putting on some thick jeans and boots (just in case he decides to choose fight over flight) and shoo it in the right direction with a broom. Ideally a shop broom, but basically you want a long handled object that is not immediately threatening.

Have you considered just asking the snake their name instead of taking their picture and asking the internet to doxx them for you?

I learned that herpetologists study snakes and not cold sores...
But this guy (I'm assuming) ended up being a water snake.
Still, not someone I enjoyed swimming in the pool with.

I hope you managed to get it out of your screened pool area.
Honestly, the only things about Florida I miss are the pools and the little gecko lizards that run around everywhere.
If you are in Florida, then you really need to treat all "Unknown" snakes as potentially dangerous. Give them their space.
Honestly, the same with most creatures in Florida, including the residents!

It's summer in Florida when Grendel and his Mom come out of their caves, dressed in as little clothing as possible to drag unsuspecting tourists to their Doom.
On a side note, is this just a Florida thing, that the less attractive someone is the more skin they have the urge to show off?

My uncle took me fishing in the bayou in a little boat. One handy little device he had was a long wooden pole with a little claw like devise at the end. It was used to pick-up snakes that dropped into the boat, so you could safely put them back in the bayou.
Perhaps you need one of those in your pool area.

Doesn't you have kind of service who deal with snakes and crocko? I mean doesn't Florida have a lot of this beautiful creatures all around?
Still I prefer snakes(we have only one venomous around) who you can throw out with shovel. i have more problem with damn boars who raid my farm, mooses and bears who regularly break fences. And now wolfs too, cause no one hunt them for long. and now we have a lot of wolf packs arond.

None for free... unless it's a big scary anaconda or croc or gator, then the county will send someone.
