Went to the San Diego Comic Con on Sunday. I had a great time, but I wish I could still do multiple days like I used to. I set out mainly to track down some of the new Gundam kits and actually found pretty much everything I was after. Only the limited Amuro color HGUC Zeta Plus eluded me. I ended up building a couple of them this week.
Built the newly redesigned Guntank from Gundam: The Origin.
I actually really like this kit, and I never liked the original Guntank. The more modern, realistic design to it makes it not only just look better, but more believable as well. The dust covers on the shoulders are a nice touch, too. This kit is surprisingly chunky as well.
I also picked up the Dahak from Reconguista in G and got him built last night.
Flexibility is more restricted than I'd like and the hands aren't nearly dynamic enough. That being said, I love its design and it's one of the few Gundam models that's actually capable of crossing its arms.
I've also primarily been working on Infinity stuff this week. I got an order of Haqqislam stuff in a couple days ago and I should have another coming in probably next week.
I finished up my standard rifle Djanbazan
I even managed to match him up to my customized one.
I buckled down and got to work on my Icestorm Spektr.
I didn't even notice those rough patches until I was editing the pics. I'll have to smooth them down.
I also worked on my old style Dog Warrior. I wanted to do something a little bit different with his colors.
And, tonight's work yielded a kitbashed Al'Hawwa with boarding shotgun.
I'm starting to think I may need to upgrade to a newer camera. There's actually 3 colors used in the camo on his pants, but only the darker brown is visible. My camera just wants to fight with me when it comes to putting things in focus. This guy looks much better in person than the picture lets on.

Nice paint work on the Infinity minis as usual, and i am glad the gun-tank that hatch up front looks almost sizeable for 28mm minis to use,,,,,amazing.

The Guntank's hatch is actually way too small to work with 28mm. It'll work a lot better with 15mm though.
The Spektr's colors are actually just the scheme I hax long ago planned for my Nomads. I'd only painted a Hellcat in those colors though and then abandoned it for the woodland colors. I think I'll be keeping my Corregidor in their woody colors and put Bakunin and Tunguska in this scheme. Maybe I'll mix the schemes around a bit every now and then, but I generally want my Corregidor to stand apart from the other Nomads units.

Interesting take on the schemes within the faction. I can't decide what I want to do with my corregidor stuff. If I paint them white/dark grey to match the bakunin stuff, then I'd have to paint my Haqq stuff white too (so they can buddy up for QK). Or I could paint corregidor some kind of tan/green to go with QK.
I do like your woodland corregidor stuff though, definitely wouldn't change them to fit other nomads, they other guys just aren't cool enough to camo up with them.

You forgot that the coolest feature of the Dahak is its extra limbs that are folded up so you an go all crazy multiple beam sabers at the same time.
That's a selling point right there!

Last night I finished painting my Naffatun. Sadly, I haven't been able to purchase the new ones yet. Still, despite the age of these figures and despite the girl's weird running pose, these figures are actually still pretty good. One of these days I'll need to grab the Haqq starter set so I can have my old style Naffatun trio completed. Them, plus the new style box should give me a pretty sizeable Naffatun force. There's something very pleasing about the fact that Naffatun are a dirt cheap line infantry with template weapons.

I do like the sound of cheap infantry with templates: take that, camo! Seems like Haqq is one of the armies best set to run more than one group of 10.

Yeah, those heavy flamers do bulk things up a bit. The new ones look pretty beefy, too.
I'm not sure about N3, but Naffatun used to cost about 10 points per unit and every loadout for them includes a flamer of some sort. They seem like they'd be pretty nasty on the board. There's no way I would field just a couple of them. I will definitely need the new box.

I've been working on other stuff this week. In between working on more of the kits I got from SDCC, I've been working on more Infinity minis. Last night, I started working on 3 more Haqqislam figures. Two are conversions, one is straight out of the blister. Here's my converted Hassassin Farzan and my straight Hussam Spec Ops.
Obviously still very WIP. I've only just started applying the base coat for their uniforms, but I wanted to go ahead and show them off. I had a bit of trouble getting the right arm to fit on the Farzan, but eventually tonight I got it to fit right. I'd thought that the Farzan had two separate profiles for the shotgun and the contender. I didn't realize they were the same profile and that his other one was for a regular rifle. That made converting him easier. I lopped his head off and repositioned it and trimmed the shoulders of his new arms down a bit so they'd fit better. Did some bending on them too to adjust their poses a bit. If you can believe it, his arms come from the blister Janissary. I'm not really a fan of that figure and I think his arms look better here. I'm working on making that Janissary into a hacker using the Al'Hawwa's arms. I'd have shown him off too, but I wasn't happy with the mods I was making so I had to scrap most of them. I had all these great plans for converting the figure only for them all to be dashed by my inability to sculpt worth a damn. Hopefully I can pull off some "simple" sculpting to smooth out his helmet so I can at least make him look a little different from the stock model.
I've also gotten the urge to work on 15mm stuff again. I'd FINALLY received my Ranger's Project Kickstarter stuff last week. That project was so badly delayed. I'm thankful I finally have the stuff though. I'd included a squad of infantry with it and I have to say, they're nice little figures. They're tiny though. Comparing them to my Rebel Minis 15mm figures is like comparing an Infinity figure to a GW one. The Rebel Minis guys are not only slightly taller, but much chunkier and with more cartoony proportions whereas the Ranger's Project figures have more natural looking proportions to them. They're designed by Shimmering Sword and I really wish he'd make some of his designs in 28mm as they're simply gorgeous. Unfortunately, after the Kickstarter debacle, I don't think he'll be venturing into the wargaming market any time soon.
Pics are a little blurry, but again, these guys are damn tiny.
The vehicle with them is Clearhorizon's 15mm Nemesis. It's a nice little vehicle and I'm glad I got it. I'd like to add a 28mm one to my PanO forces.

Alright, the Hussam Spec-Ops is done now.
I was actually a little daunted by the level of detail sculpted onto him. I thought he'd be more difficult to do, but he actually turned out to be one of the easier figures I've painted lately.
I was waiting until I finished him to dip the current batch of figures. I'll be doing this Sunday evening.

That 15mm tank is great, do they actually do a 28mm version? It would fit in with so many game systems.
I always like learning about Infinity, I think the multitudinous factions and various names turn me off a little, but the miniatures are largely brilliant and you do them justice. The tan/olive scheme is especially good.

Hey guys, thanks a lot. I'm glad these guys turned out as well as they did. Infinity figures feel like such a challenge to paint decently. Thankfully, earth tones don't usually give me too much hassle, so Haqqislam is one of the easiest factions for me to paint. Camo still gives me trouble though, so I'm really pleased with how the Al'Hawwa's pants turned out. Camo also apparently gives my camera issues, too, since it never wants to focus on him. I got all of the Haqqislam figures done today, though. Now I can move one to something else. Probably more Haqqislam. I started assembling some Mantic Deadzone zombies, too, so maybe I'll paint them this week?
anyway, I have pics of things that are actually finished!
Here's the Al'Hawwa, whose pants came out much better in the photo this time.
I really like this figure. If I can ever talk anybody into playing some sci-fi or post apocalyptic games, he'll definitely be getting some table time.
Here's the finished Farzan. Dunno if this version is one I'd ever actually use, but at least he looks cool.
Naffatun duo are finished.
Another pair that I'd love to get into some post apocalyptic games. I bet these guys and the new versions would be great against zombies.
Here's the unconverted Hussam Spec-Ops. Another figure that I really love.
He's got such a cool, near future look to him. If I can, I'd like to get some Insta-Mold to cast his alternate head. It'd be great for converting unhelmetted figures like the Ghulam.
My Sefadu leader is also finished.
And here he is with his grenadier buddy.
I swear, I'm scared every time I pick the leader up. That spear is so damn thin, I'm afraid that if I don't accidentally snap it right off, I'm going to wind up getting it bent just handling the guy. Surprisingly, I've dropped him several times and so far, it hasn't broken and he hasn't snapped off his base. I think it'll only be a matter of time though.
