I imagine that they'd regretfully work with you (possibly with images of Sophie or Mr. Bones crying)- but it shouldn't be too hard to sell portions of your pledge independently, even at this early date. I know earlier in the thread people were already talking about gentleperson's agreements for parts of other pledges.

Can someone clarify something as this is my first Reaper KS rodeo...

Is it safe to "spend" my pledge, and lock in an order on the pledge-manager, if I intend to order more later? Will they be good about warning when the cut-off is?

you can indeed, this is from the update before last

Once you have checked out, items cannot be removed from your "cart" so if you're still deciding what you want, be sure not to Checkout until you are sure.

You can checkout more than once, adding new things as often as you like, but you cannot remove items that have been added.

You will have until 60-90 days before fulfillment (so until June 2016) to finish making your selections, so feel free to lock in early and come back often to get more! You can select less than you pledged for now, and come back later to "finish" selecting items if you need to.

I don't have one, but ideally you'd be looking to put it on a rectangular base of set it on fire and run away screaming

I'm pretty sure the giant spider would have to curl up to fit into one of your shoes. This is the one they tacked on to the end of bones2? I think he's bigger than my hand... That size of spider requires a flamethrower or a machete and a lot of courage

I prefer the cement mixer truck option. After you hit it AND run it over (repeat as necessary) you pour the cement load on it and drive away. The cement may not stop it, but it will give you more drive time to get away.

I saw a metal version of it at miniaturemarket the other day I want to say it's about 4" wide

They also keep pushing for backers to lock in the Pledge Manager. Any consequences not allocating the funds until later (before the pledge manager closes next year)?

Probably just trying to gauge production quantity estimates or something. No harm in not closing yet, but if you do close it you can always add later.

The way I see it, the way its set up there's no reason to lick now. If I lock now and change my mind later, its simpler to just add the other thing on. If I wait till the deadline and my tastes have dramatically changed... Then I just pick what I want now and no harm done.

I'm pretty sure my brain tricked itself into backing this thing for no reason. I buy models like a labrat with a modified/removed hypothalamus eats food...

But I spent the money so I'll find something to get with it by lockdown day.

That ghost dude brings 'tactical rock' to a whole new level. And I thought that Batman model with the tactical gargoyle was getting silly. Not sure it will put me off of the set or anything, but I guess we'll see when it's time.

Is anyone else getting a tad annoyed by the emails continually urging us to lock in our pledges when there's no tangible benefit to us, the backers? I mean I'm sure they want to have as much data and figures as soon as possible, and certainly they don't want to deal with us being whiny should any of us miss the deadline or whatever... but frankly, I'd like to give it as long as possible and see as many art updates as possible before locking myself in, regretting it, and (what they're probably hoping) talking myself into buying something else.

Perhaps I'm being a bit dramatic about it, but I'd still like to see how some things turn out and what not.

Yeah, I feel like they have a lot of gall after the Shub Niggurath price hike asking me to do them a solid. My pledge calculations were all thrown by a loop by their blatant money grab, so I'm just going to have to think about it for a while.

Eh.

I locked in my base pledge and expansion one, which I had planned for in the first place.

So now I have between now and who knows when to keep piling stuff into my order? So be it.

Not that I've painted more than a dozen or so models form the last campaign. Maybe once I clear the current batch of stuff I'm painting I can start dipping in to that reserve...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Better whiny now than pissed off later.

I mean, in the previous KS, we had backers who thought they got the core set *free* at the $100 level. Serves Reaper right to post on Facebook.

*Anyway* random note for the Reaper October promotional thing. Limited edition figures, free paints, etc.

Gotta love a good throwback to the Peanuts Halloween special.

As for the lock in, I imagine it's a mix of wanting to drift closer and closer to knowing what their production lineup should be like, and knowing from previous experiences that over the course of the next year they'll be guaranteed to have people who still haven't locked in even when shipping begins.

And I'd further bet that some of those people would get righteously pissy with them over their order being held up despite them failing to do a small bit of paperwork for a year and a half.

Sure, it's probably self-serving, but it could also simply be that this is their third campaign and they're already accounting for the... peculiarities of backers that they know exist.

Edit: I'm pretty sure you can 'lock in' multiple times, so it's not like locking in now precludes people from getting more. I can respect the desire to put it off a while and make the most fully informed choices possible, but I can't fault them for wanting as many answers as early as possible either.

you can lock in as often as you like adding more cash,

but not remove it or change previously locked choices,

so while locking if you know what you need is sensible, if you're uncertain waiting till the last minute is sensible
(but no moaning if you miss the cut off and end up 'donating' the money to reaper)

Already tried locking and adding multiple times. No issues at all.

Order to your heart's content for the next year or so!

TN/AL/MS state line.

Personally I'm just waiting to decide if I want the core pledge or addons. If I come up with the scratch I'll get both.

For now I'll just hold onto my money.

I really appreciate that the manager notes how many of each item you've already paid for after you lock in if you go back to add more stuff. Nice piece of software.

I find myself sad that today is not an update day.

Also, I realized the need for people to "LOCK IN PLEDGES NOW!" is likely an attempt to avoid the problem they had with Bones 2 where people never locked in with a shipping address. Nobody wants there to be people who don't get shipped anything.

Perhaps I'll just go check whether I want any new add-ons...

It is precisely THIS. By the time we began fulfillment of Bones 2, over 2,000 Backers and NEVER locked in ANY selections (despite our repeated calls to lock in, our repeated attempts to include screen shots to explain how to know if you were compliant, etc.), and we had to do a lot of extra work to determine what needed to be sent to this group of ~15% of our backers. In the end, over 200 of this subgroup we were unable to contact, and therefore unable to determine what they were wanting*, and they received nothing (until they contacted us, some of whom have still yet to do so).

We NEED every backer to have at least locked in selections for the amount of their pledge, and the longer people wait, the more they forget, or the longer they spend thinking they did it already and there are no problems.

To highlight why this is a problem for us - Right now over 4,500 backers have locked in precisely ZERO items. If all 4,500 of these people forget, believe they already have, or never realize that they need to**, then we will have nearly 1/3 of our backers receive no rewards at all.

*people who pledged exactly $100 and also had a "core set level" were easy. People who pledge $65 or $196 were not.

**despite the numerous reminders we send out, many people never read them. At least a DOZEN e-mails a day arrive asking "it is now October, when will my KS reward ship? (because they both did not A: read the estimated delivery date when they pledged and missed the '2016' part, and B: have not read a single update and do not know that we have a year to go). Sadly, the more this happens the more I am convinced that asking them to take this specific action in the updates is futile, because they are clearly not reading them to begin with... ::(:
