Hear this one is coming to the PS4. So popped over to the game site and signed up, just bagged myself an Lav on release. Now this is where you tell me wheeled vehicles suck. Lol
A rather disappointing Steam sale is going on right now, so I decided to pick up What Remains of Edith Finch, a walking simulator that isn't overly pretentious or trying too hard to shoot for gaming awards. An interesting concept and the stories it tells are fine, it's a bit rubbish at answering questions though.

Absolute cracker of a game, that, and I imagine that while the graphics are dated, the combat still holds up as I remember it being an incredibly fun hack'n'slasher. I may be remembering it through rose-tinted glasses as it was my first ever game on my first ever console and I played the hell out of it, but yeah, it's certainly one of the better movie adaptation games. If you enjoy it, the Two Towers one is just as good.
But yeah, it was certainly tricky. I still never beat the final Mount Doom/Gollum mission!
I've got the Two Towers waiting to be played after this one
The one thing I've really noticed about going back to the PS2 is how clunky the analog sticks are which can be a bit frustrating. Currently stuck on the King of the Dead mission just can't seem to get past him, think I may have to go back and level up legolas or aragorn in the previous mission to get through it.

The Two Towers one is great apart from one level where you have to defend a small gate into the Hornburg after the Deepening Wall gets blown up.
Not only is it a super boring wave survival mission but I remember the difficulty is rock solid!
Although I played it so many times trying to get good at it that I think I have Stockholm Syndrome and am weirdly fond of it now...

Those games were definitely formative in terms of my gaming habits! I'm pretty sure the King of the Dead boss fight in RotK was where I (eventually, after many many hours of banging my head against the proverbial wall) learned that melee bosses can't hit you while you're running away, aka kiting! Followed by the discovery that ranged attacks are a cheap way to whittle down bosses and trash mobs are just the worst! Knowledge that's served me well for the next 15-odd years of gaming!
Now I think about them though, I realise how much I take for granted in modern games. Being able to move the camera for example. With the amount of times I died in the LotR ones because an enemy I couldn't see hit me from just off-screen, I could form an Army of the Dead of my very own!

Every vehicle in the game is at least theoretically balanced. My main complaint about wheeled vehicles is that they handle *too* well, and I have a bad habit of turning too sharply and crashing into things when I switch to driving one right after driving a tank.
Ha I could see how easy that would be when switching over, been watching a few vids on YouTube.
Will be nice to play with modern mbt’s straight from the off, got to get me some Abrams lovin.
Finally managed to get through the Lord of the Dead I've found the fast attack sets the undead into a weird floating backward animation they get stuck in if you keep hitting them.
Been playing VRChat with my Occulus. It's lots of fun.

You're gonna have a bad time of it, I'm afraid.
Oh, I'm sure that there's plenty of fine re-texture mods out there, and probably a lot that re-mesh the world to look nicer, too, but as for people? You're gonna have two options. Potato-faces or overly-sexualized barbie dolls. There are no middle grounds.
My advice is to just run with the squattyness. Get the Construction Kit, make yourself a Dwarf race (copy the Imperial template, reduce height to about 60%, increase width by a half, re-jigger starting stats, powers and abilities- I suggest giving them boosted beginning Endurance or Stamina) and go to town with it.
GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Decided to give Warframe a try after the PoE update. The game’s alright, but I can see myself getting bored after a while. Right now I’m at the stage where I have no idea where I’m going in the game and frequently get stuck waiting for items to craft/level.

Warframe is one of those games that you either give yourself a goal, or just play it occasionally to get that hyper-alien-ninja feeling out of the way. It has fun gameplay, and that's it. That's all you need in some games, though.

I'm still playing torchlight. There need to be more games where you can have a pet who is a tiny yappy dog that can also summon hordes of zombies and skeletons.

To be honest, I pretty much gave up after a few attempts. Even with some graphics mods, the gameplay is just so clunky, especially going back to it after 6 years of Skyrim.
On the flipside however, I finally got around to Prey, which so far is just wonderful (though I've come to expect no less from Arkane Studios after the amazing Dishonored series). Amazingly atmospheric, wonderfully clever and inventive gameplay, great voice acting, and a fascinating space to explore. Top stuff thus far.

I do love that about Torchlight II.
I've got a bulldog, and when I realized he could summon skeletons and shoot fireballs...

Another disciple BrookM!
To be fair, I've been on board with Prey since it first came out, it's just inexplicably taken ages for me to get around to playing it. All I hoped was that the game would meet my very high expectations when I got to it, and so far it absolutely has. It just ticks all the boxes of great game design; it rewards exploration and lateral thinking, it offers a multitude of ways to achieve any given task, it constantly encourages you to pay attention to lore notes and such (whereas so many games make it so easy to ignore them. Prey and Dishonored usually give you some tangible reward for paying attention to books/notes/ages ect which is great).
Arkane are pretty much the best devs in the business at the moment for my money, and Prey might be their masterpiece. I hope that despite both it and Dishonored 2 under-performing profit-wise, they can get together the funding to go on making such excellent games.

Most importantly though, it has a photo mode...
You may love photo mode, but the thing I absolutely fething hate about it, is that *MY* game map is bombarded with everyone else's gak photos (and really, some of them are quite bad screen caps) I've looked and looked, and, unless there's been a feature added in an update I've missed, there's no way for me to turn off those uploads.
As for myself, I got my kids the Lego Marvel 2, so I've been playing that (I tend to help them unlock many of the characters), and some Fallout 4.
I have been playing the Fallen Ghosts DLC for Ghost Rekon Wildlands as of later, and been really liking it so far. The DLC makes you actually be tactical and dont go in guns blazing at every turn.
That and it has Ride Of The Valkyries in it!!
I just bought Total war Shogun 2 w/ all dlc, Dawn of war 2 Master Collection and Endless Legend w/ all dlc. Playing all 3 of them together. Thinking I like Endless Legend the best, Shogun 2 harder then expected and DoW 2 is different to what I thought it would be bud I am enjoying it.
I'm playing "How complicated can we make what was a relatively simple tweak mod!" in Skyrim.
Like, seriously, all I wanted was to make Corundum not be a metal (it's a gemstone mineral). And now I've created an entirely new crafting category, re-colored all the Ancient Nord weapons, re-jiggered the Forsworn tempering recipes, added a whole new type of ore, and I'm planning on adding in Bronze Nord daggers, maces, and warhammers.

Just got my new Nintendo Switch the other day, and I've been mainlining Breath of the Wild. Beautiful game, definitely takes a bit of getting used to with the ability to go anywhere. I'm used to open world games on the PC, but this is the first one that really does make me want to just explore.

Just picked up Epic Manager in the Steam Holiday Sale. I'm just getting started, but so far it looks pretty fun!
