Packed and ready for Gencon!

Fionn won't be going to GenCon after all.

I spent some time casting from the molds Galorn sent me. Here's pics of the molds, no picks of the casts yet. Will do tonight if I can.







And of course, of all the stuff I cast last night, the fantasy doors came out almost 100% perfect and the rest is going to represent a junk pile. It's still usable, but the cast didn't show the detail as much.

Nice work on the casting Dave.. something i would eventually like to learn.

ok...seems i have just gotten online at time to say the grand master a farewell...for now...

man... i have goosebumps of anticipation...that looks like a whole load worth of a ups van alone^^

i just showed my wife that pic... and she made a terror striken face... man...dave you go to length for your friends... mucho appreciated !!! (and i feel a strong pang of guilt for being the guy that have caused the most of postage costs...being the sole european in that lot...)

as for the corvega discussion... i have to change my mind here a bit... the car IS meant to be a true landship... and thus certain features are big as intended... AND i liked the truescale argument here...if we build something from scratch i think it is only logic to aim for truescale... the punny vehicles GW produces have been always a methaphorical thorn in my side...so making it big enough to have it fit the inteded amount of passengers is always a good deed in my book...which brings me to ask for a scaleshot with a "rider" inside... if possible...

and then the matter of the casts... bloddy good idea to send the molds with already casted stuff inside... strike of genius... tho will it heavily affect the postage (pun intended) ...

the demolded stuff yet again prooves what cool stuff dave can chuck out... the white tiles, buttresses and walls... splenid eyecandy allaround...and the lil pours of the millenium falcon and the even the lego minis...the last totally look worth the be seen as saints to the church of riveteers...!!! cool idea...

Day 1 at Gencon was fan-fething-tastic as always, my feet hurt, but boy was it worth it!

Thursday is my annual Holy Shopping day, and I got some good stuff, an old-skool Leman Russ and Chimera kit (my favorite ones), one of those chemical plant sets, a couple Pegasus technobridges, two GIANT Ziplock bags of random GW terrain bitz, I traded a bunch of old GW ruin corners in my bags with another guy who had a bunch of Munda bulkheads in his bag,all from The War Store, I scored a Malcador tank from Forge World, oh and I think I am now in love with Malifaux (LadyGeek and I played a demo and she liked it), and Infinity is attracting me too, we shall see I got a couple of boxes of WarGames Factory British in Pith Helmets for some Praetorian Conversions I have always wanted to do, and will likely get a bunch more of their different boxes, as well as some of Warlord Games multi-part plastics (their Resin Vehicles are AMAZING!)
Then I took a Terrain-making class that unfortunately I could have been teaching, but I did learn a very badass way of making barbed wire, which I'll try and share someday

Tomorrow, we have a a Mordheim Round Robin game, I will probably buy a fethton of miniatures that I'll likely never paint because I am a hopeless addict, There is a Steampunk Film festival I wouldn't mind seeing, then there is a geek Burlesque show at night.

I met Briancj this morning, but he was busy getting his Artemis Bridge simulator set up, he showed us how it worked, but then his boss yelled at him and made him get back to work I don't know how his day went, hopefully well.

And for those of you who fancy some historical WW2 gaming in 28mm BOLT ACTION is THE ruleset you want! Written by Rick Priestly, published by Ospreay, Warlord games makes some EXCELLENT multipart minis, The best Resin vehicles I have ever seen, plus Wargames Factory makes some cheaper multipart minis which I am about to see if are compatible, but they are both excellent sprues, little details like jeep caps sculpted on heads, but the steel pot hoelmet still fit over them make them the ultimate bitz. Shas yur recent work with the Wargames Factory greatcoats has given me ALL SORTS of ideas for IG conversions too.

Yep, I got the Great coats from Wargames factory. Still helping Tony, the guy who started WGF and now he is running Defiance Games, you will see soon painting of those guys as well, I have to finish building that company sized force!

We just made it home and unloaded the metric ass-ton of stuff. It really IS bitz heaven around here, it'll take some time to sort it all out, but yeah, I'm stockpiling for later projects for sure

Malifaux is a bit different than your average skirmish game, no dice are used, but a deck of cards to allow you to cheat fate. It is quite a different system of play, but it is great fun. Very Steampunky vik..Very steampunk. As a matter of fact, I chose the Arcanist faction myself, you'll see soon

Anyways, I'm sad that it is over, but at the same time happy to be home, we are exhausted!

Ah Arcanists. They were my faction of choice too. Had so many plans for uber steampunking them further, but they never seemed to come to fruition. Would love to see what you do though!

Nah the cards have numbers, you flip cards to determine a number instead of rolling basically, its a very cool system.

The turns are similar to Flying Lead, each mini needs activated once, back and forth each turn, rahter than one side move, fire, CC like GW-ish games. You can use a regular deck of playing cards Vik, Malifaux is a city between dimensions, kind of like the Realm of Chaos, but with Victorian-era coolness.
