here are some crude WIP of my own productions^^ the overhanging cardboard will be cut to size when cured ...
also i begun on adding some iron bounds as well...only horizontal for now... should add vertical too?

Well, if you want to add vertical bindings, go right ahead, but yes, i am liking the more armored look that you are getting so far!

thanks mate^^ i also learn while doing the plating... sometimes i have to remind me that too much glue will make things way too complicated... when i add less then the plates stay faster in place...but this way it is more unforgiving if i apply them wrong...too much and they swim endlessly on a tide of glue...

I understand! Once you cut the spare cardboard off, you can make it look reinforced with more of the join bands for that back to the ret of the upper structure, looks like 3-sections would do.

yep there will be lots of cutting to be done...should i overlay the vertical binder or should i cut them to size to fit between the horizontal ones?

these pics aren´t the latest i have to say, but the current status i couln´t take pics of as they came out so late in the night... poor light i didn´t want to bother you with so i promise better and fresher pics of almost completed platingwork in the morning CET...

actualy the gas war was the meanest thing i can image...
in comparrsion to that is a machine gun salve a rather straight forward thing...and much more honest...AND if the wind turns the bullet don´t come a knockin`^^

when i reach the riveting stage...actually i am quite thrilled to do so, as i began to really like riveting up my steamboiler for the airship back then... the zen of riveting i called it then...quite a refreshing work...concentrating on a miniscule job straight before you...not some foggy concept work like most of the time... and the rivets i make are not too challenging to make and are more to my line of craftsmanship^^ as they don´t require straight cuts with scissors, knifes or saws...which i suck in^^

Well, I was meaning that there was not so much of the wild disparity between the mindsets of the men fighting, and that was why Christmas of 1914 had that special air about it, the men were all just serving their countries, just different uniforms and such, no Naziism, or Communism, at least until 1917. No one was looking to wipe people out due to their ethnic background in Industrial scales. The weapons were brutaal, and the leaders so determined, but in the end, it did bleed Europe dry.

oh yeah it did... and ultimatly it layed the path for the secon WW...but you are right, in those times you didn´t hat all that racial hatred in the minds of the fighters...i think this incident ad others like them wouldn´t have been possible in WWII...

The card armour looks great so far! The lameler style is quite unique and looks very steam punk.

While that's sort of true I suppose, I believe that special air got quite foul pretty much after the first day of the battle of the Somme (1 July 1916). WW1 wasn't a gentlemen's war, it was just as brutal and pointless as any other war!

While we didn't have Nazism or Communism we had plenty of something just as dangerous (though I do not believe communism is dangerous in it self) namely nationalism combined with militant patriotism, that is after all why the war started.

That is not entirely true, since the racism that the Nazis based their ideology on was quite common back then and wide spread across Europe (and America, and the rest of the world basically, the white man's superiority was considered a scientific fact).

i tried to sum up uglyness...and lost some very important facts underway...you are right in all points i guess count zero (cant type your name ...would make me do too much typos^^)
a rather disturbing fact i got shoved down my throat during school was that one of my favorite musical composers, Wagner, was an antismitest himself...after that numerous other names of my childhood and important ones at that came too into that line...the thought pattern during these times was rotten to the very bone...i hope that we can climb out of that sewerpit in the future...believe me, germany is sitting in that for the better (worse) part of its population still in it...

sebastiansynn has also pointed out the main part of this thread...cheerful chattyness is a main cause for the whole thread...i should probably make a warning to the beginning of every thread i open and every thread i join...may contain banter^^...and you named only a fiew^^ anvildude and so many other have to be included...and they di´dn´t add to the stupid banter of me only, but you all added plenty of good advice and ideas that made me progress in projects and in learning...a feat i am most thankful for!!!!
