That is what I like about Dakka-Dakka, the fact that there will be positive support for most projects if they merit it. And this tank of yours merits such.

Hey if it helps lift you from the doldrums you seem to have been going through, all the better, (That is like depression, but lighter)

well times are still a bit like weather in the mountains... if you catch my drift... i have been working with a goal now... i worked on the sponsons and i hope i have them completed today...then the hull...riveting will happen later... i have to figure out what kind of pattern i want there...distances between each one and so on...places without etc...

well now they are oly half of the width and thus doesnt look like the tank has a too full belly^^

Looking good vik! What kind of glue are you using to get them all together again? PVA I should think. Next will be also that safety coating of Miliput-milk to keep the tank safe from spray paints and such.

liquid nails would work for the glue . i would use cereal cardboard for the armoured plates,thus allowing you to paint on the tank with no fear of melting and also adding realism and depth , what do you have in mind.

Probably my favourite part is the turret, i love how tall it is.

funnyly the turret is the one i am currently the most unsure of... but it grew on me... the barrel will need a bit of fleshingout of course and also like neil suggested i will use cardboard to plate the tank...should i do this in overlapping plates or plate to plate with a weld seam made from a thick line of pva glue? later then each plate will too get a riveted look...thus creating a very pockmarked look all over...
if i plate the whole tank in cardboard i can probably get away with PVA glue to get the hull and the tracks together...
and at shaso... the miliput sealing i will do then only for the shoes/treads...and possibly to the landingramp in the front... if i dont redo that again when plating...this is still in flux^^

If you're going for Steampunk, then definitely overlapping. Give someplace for the rivets to grab on to, yes? Could always use Hot Glue to attach everything together...

just place the cardboard pieces end to end, and then place a thin strip of cardboard over the seams, once you've done that you will know exactly where to place the rivets, as it will have the look of something iron bound. here's images to show you what i mean.




the ship has bound and riveted plating all over it, and i think your tank would look great like that. And for some reason that airship looks oddly familiar, I think there's a dakka thread on that thing that i'm subscribed to. I'll see if i can figure out which thread it is and send it off to you, might give you ideas you could use.

sebastansynn... the iron bound idea is The very idea! this i will do, only a bit thicker than the rivets i make and i am good to go...and alsways stay in line when riveting!

at anvildude, thought that too but then sebastiansyyn gave the ironbound idea and i will do so acordingly...also i doubt i could create a cean look when going down the overlapping route...

at weety, small children small problems, big children big problems... i guess the real work starts now... and i am not even thinking about the paintwork^^

if anything, british officers are known for their topmost forthcoming behavior....before battles they aranged proms, dinners and so on even in the soon to be middle of the battleground...so i guess a bit of vodka and whisky sharing would be no problem at all...mind you this would have to be taken place if those khardovians and the victorians would battle agianst each other... little can be speculated if both woud fight side by side and win... afterwards would be splendor galore^^

I am reminded of the dinners and celebrations of the end of the Second World War, when allies such as America/Britain and France would meet with the Russians and celebrate together,,,an unusual time indeed as they still had so little trust.

lest we not forget, during WWII, the Germans and the Allies would meet in the middle of no-mans land and exchange X-mas greetings and such.

Actually, that was WWI, both sides were a little m,ore civil to each other at that time, WWII was far more vicious in the fighting.

yep, there where several movies about that particular incident...nevertheless afterwards they commited murder on multiple times afterwards....war is war...regardles of what bottle you empty with your enemy before, inbetween or after....

by the way... did some groundwork on the plating of my tank...i created some odd angles on the surface that are giving me quite the resitance...but i will tackle these odd ends acordingly with a firm imperial hand! will show later some pics to spice up the show up a treat^^
