I think scoped and gold knee is too little especially on the table top. You can also do stripe pattern on should pads. Or scuplt a cloak. Or just paint them all WHITE. That would totally stand out.

Okay, might be that is a bit too much. How about doing split black and red?

I'm using black and red for my DC, basically using the Marines Exemplar scheme to represent them :-)

Personally, I prefer the sliced styrene rod rivet method, because it is quick, and I have a CHop-it... but everyone has their favorite method.

I don't have a chop-it i'm afraid if i try and slice the styrene rod with a blade it will compress one side and I'll end up with kinda squashed rivets? are there any other ways i can either make the rivets or chop the styrene rod? or maybe someone sells bag-o-rivets in different sizes? :-)

If you use a good, sharp blade there should be no compression, you just basically plant the tip of the knife into your mat and chop down. For the few you need this will work, but for mass quantities, a $20 Chop-it is best Of course you can buy Grandt line rivets, but they are expensive.

This may sound silly, but what is a chop-it? is it actually called a chop-it or am I searching for the chop-it by? I don't want to scour the web looking for chop-it's and getting chop-recipes or chop-suey's

You just clamp down a fence at whatever thickness you want and chop and feed as many as you want.

A good leather punch cna also make nice rivets out of thin plasticard too- It's just always a bitch to get the rivets unjammed out of the tool for me.

Thanks dude! I am a very lucky dog (woof!)! I actually have taken the 2 weeks off so i can purely relax and just do painting and modeling stuff! I just trawled ebay last week and bought about 9 or 10 cd's I've been wanting for years or have lost over time so i can just chuck them on and paint another 25 marines and another squad of termies and all the other stuff i have sitting on the bench!

That sounds like a vacation best spent! Enjoy man!

mmm vacation time.... do enjoy it. well the other way i know how to do rivits is take pva glue and make dots. takes some practice but it is pretty effective.

NF09 loving the game terrian and looking awsome. I especially like that plotter screen you got lit up. I good thing to tone the light source is a white plexiglass. this will blend the light source under the glass display. Let me know how it turns out.

@GD1: thanks mate, I'm going to try some white wax paper or similar as it's easy to work with and I have some right here :-) i'll be updating early next week with my progress on the board and the holo table!

@Pyriel: Yes, the hat my friend, i have decided to eat a shower cap (or part thereof) don't fret I will send you pics to show the eating :-) I still can't believe the duck collection you have! that's some duck in the back with the trident! obviously years of searching the world for just the right little bath buddies!

maybe its some sort of magic in sweden to have some sweet ducks.

I like ducks, besides I sometimes use the trident megaduck to scare the crap out of one of the cats

I now present to you the new improved Chapter master of the Flesh eaters (counts as Seth with blood reaver) much better paint and face! using Vallejo paints and new GW shades he's a bit darker but looks great imo






I also finished my counts as Mephiston too! I wanted him to still 'look' like meph but have my own Nerdish spin on him, so I used DA robed legs (good start) and the old chapter master torso and re painted him up a bit darker, especially the robes i wanted them to sort of resemble blood red velvet? really dark in the recesses and nice highlights on the folds! I also tried to paint the handle of his sword to sort of look like bone segments, i'd love to know what you all think of these two? i'm pleased with them and can't wait to play a game




Started some more work today on my Landraider and my Rhino's, same method as my marines, shortening highlights until the final one in pure brown followed by a wash, I don't like painting tanks but I'm excited to keep going with these now i like how they are progressing

Love the "count as Mephiston", great work on the robes and kit bashing.

It might just be the stark lighting, but the reds on your vehicles looks really amazing.
The chapterhouse doors are cool too. I contamplated using those for my Land Raider as well, but ultimately didn't because I didn't like the modern weapons the angels are holding.

Looking really nice, I really like the way you done the velvet on Meph.

Is that the salt weathering technique you've done on the LR? Looks really cool and the highlights look spot on.

Sweet mother, I got that exact same Land Raider with those doors. I love count-as Seth. The highlighting and the gold is top-notch.
