Hey everyone, thanks for the positive responses! :-) I'm glad you seem to like them, I'm particularly pleased with my 2 special characters, the new master is much, much better than the original one and i'm loving my raider for once! I hate painting vehicles and it's nice to finally enjoy doing one, I've done more on it today and am all ready to update tomorrow morning :-)

i also caved and ordered 3 drop pods and some other stuff to enable me to actually play a few differing styles of attack!

I'm going to try and get a heap done on your bikes soon, I've just been a bit carried away with my other marines the last few days! the Chapterhouse parts on the raider are brilliant, they fit so nicely and are really nice to paint too, clear sculpting and defined lines, I love 'em, update pics of them below too!

What! stuff arrived from Nick! WooHoo! that's great news I can't wait to see what turns up in the 'ol stage coach! you are a LEGEND! I shall inter another iteration of my chapter master in terminator armour with your claws too!

@Mr Merlin: never fear dude, I'll be drilling barrels soon, I haven't forgotten about that point of interest!

Now, onto my update, here's some more landraider work from today, the colours are quite rich with the new shades, a bit dark for my marines but will be fine for vehicles etc...







I also assembled and primed some more troops to unleash righteous death, firstly my next Terminator squad


Next up is my start on my Death Co. CH packs and weapons in front of them.

Did a bit of fiddling around with my Holo Table, I made a frame out of L plastic to cover the edges and keep the screen in place, now I'm figuring out how to seal and texture the deatails on the sides? more on this project later today....

I told you all i'd be updating as often as i could these holidays! and here i go again! I'm nearly done with my landraider finally! looks good I reckon' I really like the bone and gold accents on the red, just the weapons to go now and then it's time for more marines!






Glued some weapons on my DC and started to wash them not much to see yet but I can't wait to get onto them properly soon!



And here's the work on my Jump chaplain to lead those nasty nasty Death Co. he's a bit of a kitbash with sang guard legs, Chapterhouse jump pack, and MaxMini helmet and crozius converted to fit in his hand




And lastly I tried to get some progress on the holo table it's not exactly how i want it to be as some joins are a little messy but I'll put it aside and have a fresh go at it later this week, any advice or comments on anything will be stored and acted upon it's not glued together just resting.



And something not nerd related but kinda cool, I was asked to make a cake for a lady at work for her son's 4th birthday she wanted a penguin, I'm kind of creative so I thought i'd have a crack at it and save her some money, I like how he turned out

Somehow you manage to make such a simple colour scheme look absolutely fantastic. Everything in your army just pops.

I love that LR. The lenses on the hatch are incredibly well done and those Chapterhouse doors look amazing. Also your weathering is top notch. That death company chaplain is looking really good so far, so is his squad. And that holo table is ingenious. Those joins are a little sloppy as you say, but nothing a little Greenstuff (in both liquid and solid form) can't fix, right? Just next time I think you could incorporate some of the Cities Of Death fences.

The pegiun is nice man, really liking your take on the death company. again landraider is still looking flawless.

I do have a question for your terrain piece, is it supposed to be new looking or is it going to have that worn feeling like most 40k stuff has. Personally i think the light is a tad bright but I am not sure on how to fix it. Will digest this some more and see if i come up with any thing.

Cheers guys thanks for the feedback, Flying Pooo, I'll have a hunt around for some of the fence parts, I may re do the top section of the table using them to add more detail? it's only that part i'm struggling with, it's not as smooth as I'd like it to be and in parts looks 'built' but it's a first attempt so learning curve is steep

Yeah, I gotta say i'm happy with the landraider the colour is really nice even if it's a touch darker than the marines, and those Chapterhouse parts are seriously some of the best aftermarket bits I've ever bought they fit well and the details are so clean, and i've bought bits from a bucket load of people over the years and I'm happy to crow about CH any time of the day! i've never had one problem with any parts from them at all! not to mention they make some awesome looking stuff too!

Thanks Alabama! the Holo table will be weathered in the end as if it's been in a building that's exploded and it's still just got the power of the machine god surging through with one last glimmer of information! the light does look bright in the pics and it probably is a bit too bright irl but I've used a few sheets of wax paper etc to diffuse the glow from the l.e.d other than that i'm not sure what else to do with it?

Thank you Gits, much appreciated! I think i'm so happy with the raider because i loathe painting large flat panels like tanks! and this one looks pretty acceptable to me for once! the bone parts are done easily too, I used leather brown as a base (from army painter line) wash with devlan then highlight up using bleached bone and leather brown and finally a little bit of white, it matches the method i use for my troops nicely.
I'm looking forward to finishing my DC and working on the dreadnought too, that'll be this weeks work I hope :-)

Ta Daaaa! finally finished my Landraider! I'm very, very pleased with my efforts on this bad boy, looks pretty good and only needs minor touch ups tomorrow when the light's better

And I also got the last marine of my second tactical squad finished, he's kinda important being that he has a missile launcher


Oh, and don't fret, i haven't forgotten to drill barrels i'll get onto that soon in a big batch of sittin and drillin'

I was going to reply individually but there was a tad too many but really thank you very much for your positive and kind words! it's a great feeling when something you believe you did a good job on gets that sort of response from others in the same hobby! it really spurs me on to push myself and try to really do something others enjoy looking at as much as i do!

with the raider, I painted parts of it like the turret/assault cannon/sponsons in the same method as my marines using the same paints so they's be brighter and blend in with the army while the main hull was done in a different method, using different paint and turned out slightly darker, I tried to make the weapons have that kind of heat stained look inspired by the raider done by redscorps ages ago.

@Finnan, thanks mate from you that's quite a compliment! your work is beautiful and really shows what can be achieved with patience and skill, and you do show us such great step by step through your models so we can attempt it ourselves!

@Gits, Ah, Nerdification! I like it lol, maybe i can trademark the name! perhaps you could use Gitification?

again, thanks to everyone for taking the time to browse my blog, I love conversing with you all and using your many talents to teach myself how to learn new things when it comes to painting, I think the biggest thing i've changed with this force is actually taking time on each model and not skimping on any parts like i was wont to do! and now for once in my illustrious tenure in the hobby I finally have an army I'm 100% pleased with, I can actually see these guys and this blog stretching away into the future much like Gits' blog as i expand it!

Next up is the death Co. and the dreadnought over the next couple of days so stay tuned!

Settle down Whaley! :-) I just haven't gotten around to drilling all my barrels yet, but I will do it soon, I don't like to leave them without drilling either, it just looks better!

@Gits, Feel free to try anything you like mate! :-) I usually don't like edge highlights but as I worked on it it just turned out like that and I liked it, just the same as my marines, only 3 colours and a wash, nice and simple!
