Well, obviously. I was not being painfully literal. Does it make her pose any less passive Yin to his active Yang? I suppose we should be glad her feet aren't pigeon-toed.

That said, I'd still buy a bunch of those security minis if they were priced to move.

I agree, especially about her armor.

I really dislike the woman on her phone pose

when the security team is just lolling around they are depicted by blips. When you actually see the model they actually see you and hence should be in 'combat ready' pose.

I'm not too fond of the 'handgun held next to face' pose but I see it as a movie/TV staple and so I have built up a callus to it.

I see no problem with her gun. It's the same shotgun that Sefadu's gunner uses. Her pose is fine too.

Am I the only one that lol'd at the 80% completion thing?

Sorry about the lack of updates. We had a great ACD Game Day show. We also have Origins the 2nd week of June. Several people were able to play Recon and Conflict. I hope they communicate their thoughts.

Work is progressing swiftly. Here is an update with the miniatures needed and a handful of images. I hadn't added the MERCS levels in last time which are an additional 5 miniatures. All told, the difference 30 days later, is 10 more in the done column. There are also quite a few miniatures that are "working" but very close to finished.

Tribunal has some very odd proportions. Torso looks too long or the arms look too short (they barely reach the guy's waist).

The arms may be a little short but I'm going to say it's the torso that's the real problem. The distance between his chest armor and belt is way too big. I won't mind if the minis for the new factions and the OpFor and characters for the Recon game are a little underwhelming as long as the core Mercs units that can also be used in the TTP game good quality.

It is a robot.

I think the issues with the Tribunal are really that he's an early WIP. I mean, he doesn't even have a left hand. Plus I think the angle is throwing the perspective off a bit. I'm sure he'll look better once he's got more detail, armor, and equipment.

The Consultant I think looks really good though.

Minis

Tons of images this morning. Sorry for the silence, I was on vacation.

Things are going extremely well on the Recon sculpting side. I will provide you an update next week per the individual minis that have been finished, but for now, here are some finished sculpts.

The base will be bigger in the final version.

OpFor Historian. His book will be replaced by a more future tablet type thing-a-ma-jig.

Canal engineer from the Texico mission pack.

Gameplay

From a game play perspective, things are very close to final. The rule book is being updated. We are hoping to be able to have a print-to-play version in your hands by the end of June. Keith is going nuts with the art (I think it has broken him... he's not right in the head), and we have reach almost final designs on most of the printed elements.

Adjustments have been minor but important. Play testers suggested almost all of the changes, like naming the Blood track and breaking out the interrogation cost and dice.

Pure madness....

Conflict

We have a hard proof copy of the game in for approval. It is good. I expect we will have it approved today.

Pledge Manager

Adam Clark, the creator of Kicktraq and an overall swell guy, has a pledge manager system we are going to use Recon. We met at PAX East and he invited us to be a part of it. There are a lot of things being sorted out behind-the-scenes, but the system is fantastic. We still have a bit of foundational work to do still, but we expect to have it available in the next four weeks.

Some good and some bad in there.

Is the OpFor Historian looking a little...short?

Maybe that's why he went into history instead of B-ball..?

We still on for the pledge manager shenanigans? I totes want that ED-two-oh-nein. Totes magotes.

I am almost reluctant to ask. Is there any definitive answer to what material is being used for the MERCS specifically? I managed to shoot in $10 as a placeholder while the KS was still going as I read the magic words "Hard plastic", unfortunately that can be anything. I read HIPS somewhere, but I am now uncertain that was a fact :\

The proportions are off on the historian the legs look too short - the sculpts in this are very hit and miss so far the style suited Myth it doesn't suit Recon. If I could get my money back I would between these sculpts and the on going delays and issues with Myth I've lost interest in supporting Mercs.

I'm only in for $10 for a mini and access to the pledge manager.

For all the reasons Dave lists, and a few more besides, I won't be adding a hell of a lot to my pledge.

I'll hook you up though Bob!

@Bob, if turns out to be all pvc you can have my pledge as I can't use the $10 pledge anyways as it's US only. I'm sure there is a way to change receipient/address.

Apparently, Ed 209 was made by Honda...

The proportions are still off on the GCC, but the additional detail really covers that up.

That is mighty generous of you. I will want to see how things look when the pledge manager arrives, but so far I'm just jonesing for the enforcement droid and maybe Nobocop, depending on the final sculpt. How about we revisit this conversation when the confusion over the miniatures' medium is finally answered? You may not want to drop by then.

Project Update #65: So much done...it is like a super done party.

This is a very large update. Basically, we are kicking it in the teeth. We are 80% done with all sculpts. We expect to be done with all sculpts by September. Here is a rundown with some images. If you are wondering why some are done while others or not, it has to do with potential mold configurations.

Art

The art is also moving forward very quickly. Almost all the character images are finished, and we are in the middle to late stages for the structure art. We’ll start messing with icons and peripheral art this month moving into August.

Hopefully, you can tell by the images below, we are doing some really cool things. These structures are much more than just an office building. And, as mentioned during the KS, the office art was in progress. We are just now getting to the point we have close to approved images.

EU miltary complex

KemVar science lab

CCC office bay

All of the MERCS images below are work in progress. Keith needs to "tighten" them up, but agreed to share them. These images are needed for the cards, player boards, and in some cases the PM.

Texico Ranger

USCR Engineer

House 9 Sniper

Art for things that will open up needs to be done. For instance, all the extra figures for the MERCS groups not provided have to have art done, both for the pledge manager AND the player boards (and the 2.0 cards). For instance, here's a little sneak peak at the last figure in USCR, work in progress.

USCR Heavy

Pledge Manager

I am sure many of you are waiting on the opening of the pledge manager. It is close. We have some final checks to go over this week, and art to add. Hopefully it will go live before the end of July.

MERCS level special figures

I have emailed the group of MERCS level pledges but have only received the information I need from two of you. If you read this, check your email or send an email to me at brian@mercsminis.com so we can get the assets we need to do a good job by you.

Changes

With Myth, we sent stuff to the manufacturers in waves. We felt this led to issues with production, our KS (which we view as one whole) was split and they viewed it as something that could be shuffled. This has led to the fulfillment of Myth in waves, which is really just a whole lot more work for us. Recon is all going at once. All the minis will be going to be molded in September. The game and all the stretch goals will be sent to the printers together in September as well. They will print it all at once and we will receive it all at once.

Furthermore, there will be changes to the miniature manufacturer. Simply put, too many issues on their end have hurt us. EVERY delay Myth has experienced is on the miniature manufacturer. I am going to China in October to oversee production with the new manufacturer, making sure they are being worked on and getting real eyes on number of minis produced per day/week, etc.

I didn't back Myth so I'm not sure just how messed up their delivery schedule or miniature quality was but I have to say the news about changing manufacturers and the need to go to China to watch them make the figures makes me nervous.

Miniature quality on Myth is perfectly fine. They're well done.

They just expected everything to come in one shipment, which it didn't.

Caused a pretty big delay, but IMO it wasn't a huge deal.

I don't think a little extra oversight in China is a wholly bad thing.

I agree that oversight is a good thing but I'm confused why, if MYTH worked fairly well, they decided to switch manufacturers. Hopefully it all goes well and meets standards and deadlines.
