Fantastic! How'd you like the new Necron models?

I am pretty proud of that cape and no doubt that dragon would be purple!

Thanks Captain Brown.

gobert wrote:Good job on the inquisitor, is it just me or is the xenos skull on her shoulder the same creature that Janus Draik has from Blackstone Fortress. It must be pretty cool to have pet dragon!
I think the skull is pretty close to the one on Janus but looks a lot larger.

Gitsplitta wrote:Fantastic! How'd you like the new Necron models?
Thanks Gits! I never thought I would like the necrons but the new sculpts are outstanding.
Here are the new destroyers and plasmacyte. I think the bases need a bit more work...
Thanks for looking.

It is so cute. The Destroyers look tough. I like the color combo.

That green is immense! Necrons are looking really cool, and you’re knocking them out pretty quick too!

Great job on Inquisitor Draxus. She is a lovely sculpt and I had immense fun painting her.

And nice progress on the Necrons, just love that Plasmacyte.

Thanks guys. Got the overlord put together now I have to think of a way to gussy him up so he stands out from the rest.

Judiciar looks good, unusual to see his original head, but I think it works, particularly with the very pale skin tone. The batteforce looks really cool all together too!

. Thank you Gobert, when I first saw the model I thought it was his face but actually it’s a helmet.

I am entering my overlord in the monthly Dakka challenge. Any CC welcome.

Already starting good with the bronze basecoat. His stola would look nice with a spot color in all the circles to break it up, but I don't know what you have planned.

And really weird to see the Judiciar with his own head Good job, he looks properly menacing!

Nice spot of purple on his chest. I wonder if the red could either be brighter with a glow or perhaps purple instead? Gold, purple and green seem to be my go to recipe at the moment so I’m a bit biased!

The spot colors on the head and chest are doing good work. If I would suggest anything, it would be to get some brighter spots on the red orb and the blade, either in the circles or along the edge.

The wash on the blade looks a bit dirty to me. I be thinkin' that a weapon of eldritch techno power would be clean and crackly.

I will definitely try changing the red, maybe a adding a bit of white to the center and using a purple wash on the highest points of the orb.

Thanks Youwashock, going to change the orb and work on the blade.

I agree with you Gitz, I just have not found a way to make it look more glowy. How it is painted now is different shades of silver with the new necron contrast over it. I am open to any suggestions to fix it.

Spatter, and you're shading to white. You shouldn't (in my opinion). Start black and shade to moot green at the lightest (old scorpion green). Even black to emerald green would work better. You could wet-blend too if your AB is acting up.

Good luck with the blade that would be the one part I wouldn't know how to tackle. Rest of the mini looks great, the cabling under his chest breaks up the metal quite nice and the glowy eyes look very good.

Firstly, I might steal that "spot of silver on the dots of the gold strips" thing, it looks great.

Secondly, for the blades the best I've seen for these have been wet blending (though you can probably get a similar effect through very careful airbrushing) black through all shades of green to yellow (though I suppose the fancy new green technical thingy could work too).

Dark spots would be bottom-forward and top-back of the blade, light spots flipping to top-forward and bottom-back. Slowly build from the dark area towards the light spots. Edge highlights brighten towards the light spots to match. Edge highlights along the "ridge" that separates the edge from the "back" of the blade, the same. Then I'd carefully fill in the "loops" cut into the blade with a cool grey to take that fancy new Tesseract Glow.

See what's on my painting table Now painting: Gravis Captain

Thanks for the input guys, so last night I started repainting the blade and came up with this. I am not sure how I feel about it so going to bounce it off you all.
