So I liked the CDnD games a bit but I hated them as single player games.  Didn't get too into NWN (didn't have my own copy) but I did infact like the game

Well while waiting for NWN2 to come out some guys I know got NWN1; so the other day I go out and get NWN1 diamond (which is what they had) NWN2, and NWN2 strat guide (for stats sake when I start modding).

WELL...seince it was their first CDnD game, we had some fun and then got a slightly more experienced guy to join us in the same night.  We're to continue the campeign (The first expantion where you start in HIlltop -- I hate games where I don't start as lvl 1 like the second pack makes you) in a few days from now.

BUT back on topic, I opened NWN2 to discovere it was 7 CD's!!!

So nondetered I try to install (had like 4gb left on this HD) and discover it takes 7GIGS!!

Anyone else who plays like the game that much to sacrifice 7 gigs of HD space?  I'll play either way but what do you all think of it?

Considering that I currently have 30gig free on my HD, 7gig for a good game isn't a serious problem.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

Well, I got it installed, but patching it (there is a patch after being out for less than 2 weeks?!) took an additional 4 gigs (for some reason...) during the patching process.

Played it for a bit. For some reason, you start at level 1 but you get two instant level-ups. :?

Voice acting was sub-par

Module system is good

Graphics are good

I'm not too far in yet, but the game seems good overall. I'm not too well versed on 3.5DND (just got stuff for it a week ago, have yet to read it though) so it's a tad hard for me as of yet. Still going to continue that NWN1 campeign with a few mates of mine.

Unfortunately, companies are still pushing games out the door in a less-than-ideal state, looking to meet deadlines rather than providing a finished product later. Thus, the near-omnipresent install-then-patch routine.

So it's 11 gigs all together when installed and patched? Ouch.

No only like 6-7; once the patch is installed, the total size drops to like .4 gigs...

I'll probably be picking it up on the 26th. It's going to be dirt cheap at a certain retailer on that day. Maybe we can play online.

That would be cool; the game itself is pretty good, a few flaws but overall pretty good.

It's getting real tough now though, with this certian encounter really hurting me -- the enemy is cloaked/stealthed and I have a hard time hitting them. And they go for my Sorc first...so she gets pwnt quick.

I really miss the custom scripts function, where you could pick a list of scripts from a list that guide what an NPC will do. NWN2 uses a list of generic actions such as follow distance, etc -- unlike BG1/2 where I could tell them to "Cast all spells and then avoid combat" or "Cast defensive spells and support the leader". I thought that was one of the best systems, though it did need some polish.

The game starts you at LVL1 though you automaticly get 2 levels--I'm sorta iffy on that, as I hated the third NWN1 campeign for making you lvl15 right off the begining; but seince it's only two levels I guess it's good to better define a starting character.

I'm also supprised to see that parties level up together now, instead of the individuals in the party leveling when they need to level.

Also, something I'm not sure about -- seince the included single player campeign has AI party members, if we start the game together who controls them?  Do we even get them?

On the multiplayer side we'll find out on soon enough hopefully.

I was fairly proud in the original game of leveling from 1 all the way to 20, though at 20 an elf evoker was almost broken. Time stop then meteor strike times two pretty much made the last boss a joke.

I've always been more "fighter" geared; I do want to try a magic user on some future modules however. The thing that turned me from magic users was BG1, where I started with two spells I could cast for every eight hours of rest. It took about 15 seconds to use both spells...so yeah.

I'm not sure how the resting system in this game works. Apparently we regenerate our HP within a few (5 accually) seconds of hitting the rest button, and I assume spells as well. Time in the world dosn't appear to speed up while I'm resting though...

I'm still wondering what I should do with my rogue party member -- I got a rapier for a mission that allowes the duel-wield feat, so I had her with a Niblethief dagger and the magic rapier, plus some studded leather +3 but she still gets RAPED in hth -- thinking she'll just be a bow-user till I replace her with a friggin healer.

And they're still rushing my caster

My CPU is dieing so I doubt I'll be able to play until I get a new one. I'll probably still pick it up though when it's on sale.
