I'm a big fan of both Black Templars and Space Wolves cause they're like space knights and space vikings.
The only good thing I can think of about Ultramarines is they probably never run out of gas. I mean come on, they come from Planet Gas Station.>.>

I'm sorry but i gotta say it, BLUE DA BEST!
On a serious note however the exorcists (sp?) red paint job bone details and every single member has been posessed by a deamon and then freed from it making them almost immune to the effects of chaos. Also their banner is a deamon's head it just looks cool.

True, but i don't know if they are a "chapter" as such. They are not really organised or operating that way.
That's like saying your fav guard regiment is the Storm Trooper squad. While cool, they are not a regiment.

Why? Because they did sod all in the Heresy while Salamanders, Blood Angels and Space Wolves took heavy Losses. and there primarch wrote the codex
And? That codex almost Caused a Second Civil War.

Pre Heresy Luna Wolves, they are recognized as being the best assault army (not crazy, Mongolian, goth, upset, little brothers, dress wearing or wolf-y)... and that's what space marines are about.

Best chapter is probly the Legion of the Damned. In 2nd edtion they had WS5 BS5 LD10 on All their basic troops, their "chapter master" had WS8 BS8. one of their veteren sergents has a skull that instakills enemies and raises legion of the damned from the dead.
the new codex rules for LOTD leave me disappointed. But they are still pretty pimpsauce.
the second best is the Space Wolves. Because I am a shameless Fanboi. I mean because they are awesome and win at everything.

Naturally this comes purely down to opinion, and as Games Workshop has every faction possess their ups and downs, this is hard, and almost impossible to pin down.
That being said, I like pointless forum speculation! 
I'm gonna say Blood Angels, 'cause I play 'em, they're red, and they have one of the only chapter masters that isn't a total jerk (at least he didn't appear as such in the only piece of fiction he's been in (Bloodquest)).
