Relic made the events of Soulstorm turn out bad for the Blood Ravens due to the internet backlash generated by Captain Boreale's awful voice acting.

Good thing too. Apparently, fully half of the chapter was killed in the fighting.

Gwar, is right they made em for Dawn of War, And yeah Boreal did have bad voice acting, sounded like they were trying to make him sound like a high class butler or somthing. I like how there Primarch is unknown and there stratagem and there heroes like Davian Thule, and Gabriel Angelos. Why Blood Ravens you ask? well when you want to get it done without charging in not knowing anything about your opponents stratagem, send in the Blood Ravens

The Blood Ravens probably have one of the traitor or missing primarchs as their primarch. Why else can they not find out who their primarch is as surely it is a simple thing to trace the origin of their gene seed to one of the loyal Primarchs. For this not to be possible would suggest one of the others for whom no records are acknowledged.

Well, perhaps it is not that simple. Perhaps the geneseed is so far mutated it doesn't match any of them.

I have to say Gwar!s statement is mst likely the fluff behind it as even by todays standards it is not that hard to compare sets of DNA.

Mutated genes can still be traced back to their source, modern science does it all the time when trying to figure out flu vaccines and the like. Reading the fluff, which while at odds with itself at times, seems to suggest that gene science is still far in advance of anything we have today.

If geneseed can mutate to the point of its origins being unrecognisable, I'd have thought it would be classified as corrupt as it no longer follows the basic structure created by the Emperor. The Blood Ravens don't seem to have any particular oddities about them in any case.

Yes, but it is ritualised to a point where it can still be used. It may not be AS efficient but it still works. With all that caring love poured into the machine it has just GOTTA work.

Not sure about tracing the gen-seed. The major flaw is that the unkown primarchs are UNKOWN. They can't exactly compare the gene-seed then can they?

Of course they can't trace something back to an origin if the origin doesn't exist. What they can do (should be able to) is rule out who they aren't from. I remain unconvinced of the rather trite "stuff got lost in the war" approach that is too common in the fluff. I much prefer the "we know but can't be arsed telling you" concept.

I agree, its 40k, im sure its more complicated then just tracing there DNA back to the Primarch. Besides Gwar also makes a good point that there geneseed could have mutated so much that they cant trace there DNA back, they do have many more psychers then any other Chapter. On another note it did make reference in DOW Dark Crusade that they were closely tied to a Traitor Legion perhaps. And Davian Thule did discover a dark secret on Kronus and was so shocked by it that he changed afterward as was stated in DOW II.

The Blood Ravens were made to be mysterious so that they could be seen as the "saviours" of the Imperium, finding all the unused STCs that had been left after the HH.

has anyone brought up the point that technicaly blood ravens are decandants of, SHOCK HORROR!!!! Blood angels, and then technicaly wouldnt have there own arch, but share out lovely winged sandal toting fassion officionado!

No, they can't be descendents of Blood Angels. They would have the "Black Rage" curse too.

It's just in the name. That's like saying the Dark "Angels" are decendants of the Blood "Angels".

Also, an ANGEL is way better than a CROW.

look at there insignia..... and look in the codex.... well i dont have my codex to hand, but i remember there being a BLOOD raven bit in the BLOOD angel "codex" if you would call a PDF that.

...you sure? I've got the Blood Angel dex here and it hardly mentions anything about ANY fluff.

i remember it being in a side colimn or something, but my memory isnt allways reliable, there are also a few small links to the angels, this doesnt allways follow, but i would asume in this case it does, there armour? red(both despite one being "gore" and the other being"blood", the blood ravens insignia as such has a blood drop in the middle of it doesnt it, a bit like a few other sucsessor chapters of the angels, and well apart from the name arnt the ravens also a rush and bomb type of army(i know you can change it, but they have good close cobat units in comparison)

There would be. There is only ONE chapter who have eliminated the Black rage, and... well we all know what happened to them.

In Short, Blood Ravens do not know who their Primarch is, much like several Chapters. However, a High Probability it is Gulliman, Magnus (lawl), Primarch II or Primarch XI

The blood ravens could be a mixture, part of an additional founding such as the Lamentors or Howling griffins.

True, it is most likely the Blood Ravens are part of the 13th Founding, who's records on Terra are Non-Existent.

Also, you just mentioned that chapter I was on about, the Lamenters. They have been Plagued with bad luck since Day one, some say because of the breeding out of the Black Rage.
