Just got my order from Maelstrom. It worked out fine, actually a little cheaper than Warstore due to the free shipping and their 15% off at the time. I will use them again.
I will also use the Warstore again in the future because my experiences there have been fantastic.
So both are Legit as far as I'm concerned.

Well I use maelstorm, wayland and the warstore and... Lately Maelstorm stock, not only on GW stuff, is kind of always outofstock, had to get GS at waylands took a bit of time.
The warstore both the shipping and the customs hammer kill it for me a bit.

I only started using Maelstrom about a month ago and the two orders I made and had delivered I was very satisfied with.
One question though, I order something that was listed as "out of stock at the supplier" and its delayed the delivery of my current order. Is there a time limit before they get it in or will they split it to send the stuff they do have available?
That little niggle aside (my fault for not checking) Maelstrom Games gets my thumbs up!

Wait, what? Isn't the entire nation of Iceland now bankrupt?
Also, there are a bunch of LEDC's in Africa and Asia that are probably in significantly worse shape economically than the country with the #1 GDP on Earth.
You'd be in the same boat if anyone dared call you on your debts
Oh, I'm aware that the US (where I live) and the UK (where I'm actually from) would both be in a heap of trouble if China called in their debts, but it's a little hyperbolic to claim the US is in worse economic shape than any other part of the world.
Also, Maelstrom is very legit, but I tend to use the WarStore as my port of call, just because I've used Neal and never had a bad customer experience.

I've had a very successful set of dealing with Maelstrom for almost £800 of GW stuff over the past few years.
My only citicism of Maelstrom is I placed an order on December 7th for 3 Firestorm Armada Books, Tokens, and Cards plus the Fleet & Carriers for the Terrans, Dindrenzi & Aquans. Everything has arrived bar the Aquan and Dindrenzi carriers which are still out of stock :(
However they replied to my enquiry about the 2 ships citing stock problems from Spartan Games and offered a refund if I wanted. I'll wait until I'm close to the chargeback period expiry on my card before requesting a refund.

I order from Maelstrom pretty much every month. It's cool to almost always be expecting a package.
They're my source for Coat D'Arms paints. For those of you who don't know, Coat D'Arms are the same paint GW used back when they had the hexagon shaped bottles with the flexible pop-tops. Amazing stuff.
I've ordered from thewarstore.com, miniaturemarket.com, gcminis.com and many others.
Given that I'm in Canada, Maelstrom Games wins. The free shipping is great. And we get packages from the UK faster than those from the US (usually).

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

I've never bought a thing from Maelstrom and had a bad experience.
Some time ago I said that I preferred buying from either a LGS or GW direct (for advance order stuff or popular items that my be out of stock). I don't recall who (oh wait, yes I do, they've been added to my blocked list), but some fan boy laid into me hard about how I was an idiot for buying anywhere else and I should buy exclusively from Maelstrom for absolutely everything GW.
Needless to say it gave me a poor impression of that person and unfortunately Maelstrom as well.

If I lived where you are, I'd go with thewarstore.com a lot. Getting things locally always rocks, but for any mail order purchase, if I was in the US, it'd be the War Store. The times I've dealt with Neal are absolutely fantastic. The reason I go with Maelstrom is that it's better for arrival times from the UK then the US. Weird, but something I've noticed.
Ordering directly from GW is pretty much at the bottom of my list. If I'm going to pay full price, I'm supporting a local store at the same time.

They are definatly a legit shop, only problem I have with them is my orders always tage AGES to get to me, and im in the UK!
2 weeks from maelstrom or pay and extra few pounds and get it 2-2 days later from GW....
Of course for a big order Maelstrom wins

I've ordered from Maelstrom several times and have had no complaints.
The reason I've used them instead of Neal for bulk purchases is because of fluctations in the strength of the dollar vs. the pound, which, if the pound is weak, results in better pricing even with Maelstrom's smaller discount.
This depends on what you're buying, of course, as GW seems to try to adjust pricing to correct this somewhat, different items are cheaper in different currencies, but for Ork Warbikes, for example, the GW UK price is, right now, 10% cheaper than the GW US price (20% cheaper than GW CND price, 25% cheaper than GW AUS price, 20% cheaper than GW EUR price, etc.).
Edit: Amusing. Posting from work (it's Sat., screw it) and it routes through our Canadian domain, so I'm flagged as Canadian.

I will not vote NO as they are a legit company, but I have not used them for the past 18 months as I had a bad experience with them that left me out of pocket.
Since then I have placed numerous orders with another online retailer that offer BETTER savings and a much better level of service.
This is not a rival or competitor trying to bad mouth Maelstrom Games (I have not provided any alernative links) I am a genuine (ex)customer just giving my honest opinion about them.
Am I a little bitter with Maelstrom Games - yes! Did I register on Dakka Dakka just to vent this - yes!

Gak happens. Orders can get messed up. Maybe it was a busy time of year. One mistake hardly makes the entire company a scam.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I had the pleasure of visiting the "Eye of the Storm" (Maelstrom's store and gaming venue in Mansfield, Notts, UK) over the Christmas holidays. Having ordered much from them in the past it was interesting to see how they are developing. While I haven't bought much from the recently (I think I bought a Malifaux rulebook and box of minis back in October or something), due to my reduction in hobbying activities, I want to just add my post to the many that give Maelstrom a hearty thumbs up. Pretty much all problems of supply should be laid at the door of the manufacturer, whether because it is GW being gits and trying to smother their main online retailer in Europe because they don't like discounts and don't like the internet, or whether it is a very small company like Spartan who have been overwhelmed by demand for their products. In terms of professionalism I give Maelstrom a 10/10 for quality of service. It's not their fault if manufacturers can't, or won't make good on supply promises.

They've been out of stock of some things I ordered a couple of weeks ago, so the other day sent me an email to tell me they were splitting my order to send me the stuff they actuall had.
Not bad, but it would have been cool for them to do this last week.
I've never really had much of a problem with MG with my previous orders, though sometimes they do take a while to get sent out, depending on the time of year and what is in stock etc (their site apparently is not a live up-to date stock level as I am sure the items I ordered were not out of stock - could be wrong though ).

I've made a couple of orders from Maelstrom now, the prices are excellent and usually around 40% off the NZ retail prices for GW. However I really think they need to lift there game with customer service and the speed at which they get the orders out.
Every order I have made so far has taken at least 3-4 weeks and the first couple of orders I made appeared to be going nowhere until I emailed them to ask what was going on, at which point they finally decided to split the order up. Most annoying however is my most recent order which arrived yesterday. After the best part of a month waiting for it to arrive they sent me a Marine Battleforce rather than a Space Wolf one and are expecting me ship it back to them (from NZ to the UK) before they send out the correct item, meaning probably another month before I actually get what I ordered, which I think is pretty BS for something they screwed up.
