Ok so I have been looking at maelstrom games and I was wondering is it legit and what experience have you had from it ?

Yes, they're fething legit. I've ordered stuff (with a great discount) and it's gotten to me in a week. Considering I live in Tasmania and Maelstrom is in England, that's damn good service.

Oh, and free shipping. It doesn't get better than Maelstrom.

Is tax included in their prices?

I just received my space puppies battle force. Cost me 74$ canadian and got to me in just over two weeks (even though i ordered it late n a friday).

Fafnir, they have forever refused to answer my emails about whether or not VAT is included for overseas orders, so I'm guessing it IS included... hence I've never bothered ordering from them. I would have by now regardless of the answer, I'm just being stubborn because they haven't responded to half a dozen inquiries now.

You try calling them? I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a shot.

Nah, I'll be right. Like I said, I'm fine to pay the tax, I'm just not ordering anything until they reply.

For US customers how do they stack up with the Warstore?

The War Store is great, but the fact that I have to pay for shipping and I can't order GW product on their website is a bummer. I'll probably use Maelstrom for big orders (if I ever do any big orders again) because of that alone.

It's not Neal's fault though, it's GW being dicks to online retailers.

I've only dealt with Wayland so far - who do not charge VAT for foreign orders, but do charge shipping.

Other e-tailers do similar things, only they swap the VAT for shipping (I.E. Do not charge shipping, but charge VAT).

For the most part, the lesser discount from Maelstrom means what you save on shipping doesn't actually leave you with any better of a discount than the Warstore. In fact, it usually comes out to a couple of dollars worse. When they have one of their sales, when the discount increases, then you can get deals that are a better buy if you're in the U.S. If you're elsewhere in the world, then free intl shipping alone makes it pretty worth it.

Maelstrom is great. They do 10% of the rrp in pounds. When that is converted to Australian Dollars that's usually 30-50% off the price in the GW stores.

For us Canadians we have GCM and Heavy Support Games

I've used them at least once per month for the last 2 years, and buy everything GW that they stock, even brushes as they are 40% cheaper than retail in Australia.

It used to be a 7 day delivery (with no delivery charge) but since they expanded a few months ago to their larger centre I've noticed a big slow down in deliveries and now it is almost 2 weeks since my last order, and it stillhasn't arrived (but it was dispatched 6 days ago, I checked on their site)

Hi, Head Dimwit here. I can not speak for the other dimwits, but I never received either my first order or a refund from Maelstrom. Poor communication with those in the USA (at least to me). In an ironic twist of fate, GW did send me the product Maelstrom was supposed to, free of charge no less, when they sent it by mistake instead of Planetstrike.

I guess Maelstrom is the best, from what I've heard.

Had no problems with Maelstrom and they seem to have good, friendly comms too.

I usually order from them, miniaturesbypost.com or gamers warehouse. Had no probs with any of them.

They are the best, the shipping info on the site is a little wonky though so you can't really rely on that for an up-to-date status of your order, but it will get to you as soon as possible and in great shape.

Are 15% of GW RRP and free shipping after all my calulations they are the cheapest out of wayland maelstrom warstore and my FLGS thier orders arrive anywhere from usually 4 to 10 days using fast mail got my tyranids bargain price there.

And will be buying new models therw when the new codex and models are out for sure you also get reward points which can shave a couple of pounds of your order depending how big your first order was or save them and let them grow. For bigger savings

Being in the States I use the warstore. 20% off, shipping as low as $5.95 Priority (neal does order based on weight, not dollar amount purchased). So if you order craploads of metal it'll amount to a good amount for shipping. An order of mostly plastics won't hardly cost gak.

Oh, and I've never had bad service with neal ever so until I do I see no reason to change.

The lack of cart sucks but he also accepts paypal. When I need to place a GW order it's just so easy to open a new tab to GW, look up the model for the code and shoot him an email saying what I want and how many, then waiting for his reply so I can paypal him.

Easy peezy.

I'm going to have to say that the five other people either poking fun at, 'ligit' or the whole are just having a general failure of their English comprehension. There simply is no logical way to argue that Maelstrom is not 'legit.'

For the people whose posts lower down in this discussion are still asking who voted "no", the person who apparently voted no already took ownership of that and expounded upon why they voted no, you just have to actually read through the posts to find it. Try reading the post above that begins "Hi, Head Dimwit here."

Maelstrom sounds great, but I don't think it makes a lot of sense to use them if you're in the US. The War Store's shipping is a flat $5.95 and is therefore negligible on large orders, it's only a deterrent to ordering on smaller orders. The War Store is 20% off everything from GW, service is great and unless you live in NY you don't have to pay sales tax.

If you're in the US ordering from Maelstrom means paying the exchange rate from dollars to pounds which will eat into your savings and then there's the VAT issue plus the fact that credit cards charge a conversion fee for ordering in foreign currencies, usually about 3%.

I ordered them once to capitalize on a 17% off sale they had; but I am not ordering from them again unless there is a better sale.

For USA customers you'd get better service, delivery time, and even prices if you use Ebay stores like macpac51, thewarstore.com, or bitkingdom.com. Also had good experiences with superherogameland.com and rattleheadgames.com.

Maelstrom fed me bs excuses while they pulled my chain by splitting and re-splitting my order in order to make it look like something was happening. At the time they also advertised a 3 day waiting period on out of stock items; took over two weeks. Forgeworld was also faster with my order. In the e-mail tag that I played with MG, they basically lied about when they'd ship ("We'll be shipping it tomorrow"...then nothing the next day or the next) and wouldn't write a follow up e-mail until I wrote 'em again.

To their credit they did have a huge sale and was moving shop to a new location.

Still, USA customers are better off in just about every category by buying in the same country.

I've never ordered from them but I've heard nothing but good things. But as a USA customer you're better off with thewarstore.com, since they're actually in the US.

Just received my mega paint set from Maelstrom. Took a little longer than I would have liked, but when I emailed (on a Saturday night, at about 11pm mountain time) I woke up to an email saying they were swamped but I was slated to have my order packed and out on Tuesday. They updated the site on Tuesday and it said packing. Friday it finally went from packing to shipped. I received it Sunday (we've got an odd delivery schedule.. it's a little lady in a minivan)

While I would have liked to have seen it earlier, I can't say I'm disappointed. It would have been $300 cad if I bought it here and I spent about $245 cad total (after $20 tracked shipping which doesn't actually track and as of this morning is still telling me it's on it's way. I won't do that again. and after exchange and service charge for buying in foreign currency).

That's just under 20% discount. And honestly, I would have gotten an extra $20 off if I hadn't used the tracked shipping. So 75% discount from the Canadian price.

I'll still buy blisters and single boxes from my flgs, but I won't give them my big orders. It's just too good of a savings through Maelstrom Games.
