There is no other side. They're recasts. All the evidence is there.

Meh, this sort of thing will be even more common when 3d printers are easier to find and scans easier to make. You can already scan a GW model with a pair of Kinects and some software and make your own that way. Once the model scans make torrent sites GW is done.

Do I think this is shady business, yah. Is it probably recasts, yah. Do we have any evidence besides internet ramblings and conjectures? No.

Sounds like Casey Anthony's lawyer.

Yes we do. Even if you're so naively optimistic as to think there's some magical chinese gaming fairy who resells genuine FW models at a loss, the fact that elsewhere on the site there are plastic or metal bits being resold as resin casts puts any doubt to rest.

We don't know that he's selling at a loss.

Forgeworld do, or at least did, contract some of their casting out to China. For all we know, this guy might actually have negotiated some sort of license with Forgeworld to sell directly. It's unlikely, admittedly... but not impossible.

Chibi Bodge-Battle wrote:As I mentioned earlier he has listed a load of 40K items as "War Game" or some such.
Strange thing to do if he was above board. Not conclusive proof of course.

It could as easily be proof that he just ticked the wrong category when he added those listings to the store. I've done that before myself. It's not remotely evidence of recasting by itself.

I must admit, though, that I would be surprised if these aren't either recasts or unlicenced castings from whatever Chinese facility GW/Forgeworld have been using for their outsourced casting.

A new day, a new time zone.

They're giving an in-stock count of each item. If they're recasts, then once those are sold through they'll get more. If once an item is gone, it's gone (like the capillary towers, maybe?) Then it's something they somehow acquired through some other source at much less than FW pricing.

Sell me one set, please?

If they're licensed casts, they'll also probably get more...

Same, then I can get my minis the same way I've gotten each codex.

3d printers of that caliber are still at least a decade away... then there is the fact that the software costs thousands of dollars (and thats something that hasn't changed at all over the years, if anything the software is getting more expensive) and the materials for said printers are only really available in large bulk quantities (and is thus getting more expensive) and yeah... I dont think GW is going to be screwed...

Just as we don't allow this site to be used as a resource for illegal downloads, so too we will not use it as a resource for illegal recasts.

Cheers all.
