New location for my house should be a small island around -17, 636.

Sphere should go west of there (towards sunset), or around -150, 600

Mooshroom biomes are very rare intentionally (I think they also only spawn as islands in oceans?)

As for snow, that's what I'm also looking for before I settle on choosing this world. In the "DAKKA" seed, first snow was at x: -2962 z: 316, quite far out. It could be similarly distant on the "dakka" seed.

Heck, I went 10k out in both directions from 0,0, and didn't run across ANY winter biomes for the dakka seed. Or mushroom biomes.

Dunno about the DAKKA seed.

The 'dakka' seed has a snow biome at -1000,2000. It's rather large, too.
Haven't come across any mushroom biomes, but they're vile and unclean anyways.

Amusingly enough, the seed 'dakkadakka' results in an absurdly large snow biome within eyesight of the spawn.

X: 233
Y: 64
Z: -514

It's in a desert, and it's a large, flat area. I think it would fit the Grotto theme better than putting a forest in a forest.

Excellent, thank you for finding it. The snow biome in the "DAKKA" seed was huge too. I'm beginning to wonder if snow biomes are now rarer, but very large when they are generated.

Anyway, I'll double check it's there and then I can start populating the map.

Most non-swamp, non-mushroom biomes seem to be fairly large. Even swamp biomes can be large though.

I've seen some huge swamp biomes, mooshroom biomes and flat plains (ironic as they were the most common biome in the early game) are the only rare ones really.

That's why I wanted that single block of mycelium. I can go in the middle of an ocean and create my own mushroom biome, and it'll even be mostly safe as only mooshrooms will spawn on it, no enemies. Though I'll need to make it fairly large to make sure the mooshrooms do spawn (or more likely elongated with my house on one end) and the initial mycelium spawn placed in the middle to spread to both ends).

What's the address of the server?
I'm having a bit of trouble connecting and such...

The Server isn't in Minecraft 1.0 yet; it's still Minecraft Beta 1.8. It should be up and running 1.0 later today maybe.

Current progress is 25/50 structures copied.

Also, ALL STRUCTURES COPIED! I'm not taking any more requests.

However, I still have to set everyone's login spot to be the spawn point (so you don't login in an ocean). Shouldn't take too long (famous last words).

After that I'll have to do some testing on the live server (you'll get the "You are not whitelisted" messages).

THEN if all goes well, I can make it live!

Server is now 1.0 and open to all whitelisted players!

NOTE that there is a very annoying bug in Minecraft 1.0, when you try to join a server you often get:
"The server responded with an invalid key"

I have found the best solution to this is to just keep trying the "Direct Connect" option with the IP address (not web2.dakkadakka.com) - 178.63.68.200

This seems to avoid the "End of Stream" error you get if you try to use the server list.

Dammit, spotted this too late -- that's what I get for not looking at Dakka for a few weeks. :(
