OK, yeah, those three were pretty poor. I appear to have completely blanked out the 3rd ed Tyrant and Smileyfex.

The current Warriors and gaunts are from the same release, though, and much of the rest of the nid range is eiher from that release or updated plastic versions of metal models from that release.

So... the metal 3rd ed. releases...lol

Soooo much better now though.

The old Captain Cortez was pretty painful to look upon as well

If I understand them right, they're basically mindless automatons, with no intelligence of their own.

These guys:

Might rival them for dumbest models, unless their revamp made it so that they actually have individual minds.

I agree with people picking the dreadknight and the centurions however they are fixable with a bit of conversion work where as the early 'nids are only fixable by melting them down and starting again so are far worse. Yes we shouldn't have to fix models but it is what it is.

Just going back to the hellblade for a second, when you have anti-gravity technology, why bother with wings? Also the B5 Starfuries are rather neat and well designed for maneuvering, but they present a really large profile when moving toward a target. Much better to have the pilot lying down to reduce the target signature.

Regarding the centurion, you should check out the P&M threads where they get assembled without all the uber-armour. Much better models.

Personally I get all teeth-graty when I see the official SoB Exorcist and the horrible proto-Dreadknight that is the Penitent Engine.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Well, and if that's the way we're going with this, then I'd add, well, any of the current plastic range of catachan.

All of them have derp faces, and the arms are in such a way where it looks like they geuninely don't understand how to use their weapons. I especially love the I haz a ger-NADEZ arm. The fact that many of them have an institutionalized buzz cut doesn't help either...

Oh this thread never ceases with the idiotic comments does it?

Care to explain what exactly is "dumb" about Drazhar? Most of the Chris Fitzpatrick Elf/Eldar sculpts are amazing. He has a very distinctive style which is perfect for this race. There is, once again, literally nothing wrong with this model.

Well given that this thread was a question on what I think the dumbest model is, and mind you that this is subjective, I can not stand the helmet and the swords. Everything else is fine but the damn helmet. And given that the paint job is dark on this model it usually means that from across the table, it looks like he has a pair of tyranid scything talons rather than arms. Now I am aware that the helmet is styled after the old Dark Eldar Incubi, which I also could not stand, so I just wish they resculpt it. I put it in the same class as Mephiston, old 3rd ed "should have been updated" model.

See, why couldn't you have said that originally? Rather than implying he resembles a mentally slowed oaf from ASOIAF in one of the many poor attempts at wit within this thread.

The head is fine IMO. if not, easy to replace as the model is finecrap. The arms can simply be updated with some new DE arms. Simples.

We have, you're just not paying attention. Old eldar minis were great, as were the old demonettes, and the old guardsmen. There are many great old minis.

But there are also a lot of poorly sculpted, poorly designed, derptastic garbage. The old tyranid units aren't "bad now, but were good for their time". They're bad now, and they were bad for their time as well.

Were bad. Are bad. Rightly disrespected.
