Republican House passes border bill with few defections

The GOP bill was split into two parts, neither of which held appeal for Democrats.
The second bill, still under debate Friday night, would block funding for future expansion of Obama’s 2012 executive action that stops the deportation of young people who came here illegally as children. Republicans say this executive order has served as the lure that has attracted Central American children and families to come here, believing they can also be granted legal status.

"This border crisis is of the president’s own making," Rep. Keith Rothfus, R-Pa., said.

The main legislative vehicle approved Friday night provides $659 million for humanitarian aide, strengthened border security and additional immigration judges. It also adds $35 million to grant border state governors the autonomy to pay for sending the National Guard to the border without needing federal funds.

The bill also changes a 2008 trafficking victims law so that the Obama administration will be able to speed deportation of minors from Central America, where most of the children have migrated from.

They're doing the right thing. Obama is, as usual, blatantly trying to abuse illegal immigrants and misled voters. An illegal immigrant is an illegal immigrant, no matter how old he is or whatever.

I think old Teddy, has done a better job at making a fool of the entire congress.

The President can try, but he will never get to the caliber of awesome.

As alluded to in the article, US law differentiates between the way minor illegal immigrants and major illegal immigrants are treated. That's not an Obama thing, its a legal thing.

I know right now if we can just get kids fined for being in the car with their parents as they break the law. Little bast... how dare they not know they broke a crime and did what their parents told them to. I say take them out of the car put them on the side of a road and move on. Damn kids always getting in my way of being a ass.

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened. Basically, Obama can only exercise Executive discretion if House Republicans allow it.

I don't think it would be wise for me to disclose which party I support, but I will say this: I'm tired of both party's pointless squabbling. Stop acting like children, and get something done.

I think some Republicans are nuts. I think some Democrats are nuts. What I most dislike is that both parties refuse to except that the other could be right.
