Bush's missions acomplished was a "we won" moment,
at best a celebration of a shared victory, at worst (more likely) a delusion of granduer.
Obama's tone is one of narcissim and condecending towards anyone who isnt on his side at best, at worst he is trolling the country/congress/ect.
not that one is better or worse then the other, but at least with bush I could laugh at him and say "what do you expect, hes an idiot" with obama... i dont have such an easy excuse for why hes so horrible... which is a shame because I really wanted to like the president this time :(

Impossible for me to want either side to win at this point. And now this nonsense "gotcha" politics is streaming down into the population where we are CELEBRATING someone doing what they can to not work with Congress/President.

Common denominator: both Reagan and Clinton had oppposition in Congress that was willing to work with them on issues of mutual agreement.

Ummm....I guess this is aimed at me???
The way I saw the video, it was a humorous appeal to Congress to work with him, rather than continue obstructionist tactics. At worst, it was an attempt to expose that tactic to voters, but I don't think that is a bad thing. If you're representatives are busy at work wasting your money on lawsuits that will go nowhere and the repeal of the ACA which will only ever be possible if Republicans gain simultaneous control the House, Senate, and White House, they are wasting your money and should be calle out on it, IMO.

I'm with Curran on this one. Our system is FUBAR and the common citizen isn't making it any better by toeing the party line of whatever side they happen to be on rather than being at least tolerant(if not open-minded) to just listening to differing opinions.

I levy some of the blame on the news cycle and information ovelroad that our current age is in. Because we have to fill a constant stream of news, we encourage more and more "newsworthy" moments because after all, any attention is good attention which is a sad truth. Moreover, since we have so much coming so fast, the information has no time to be processed outside of the sound byte and headline. So now we have a system that rewards idiotic blathering and gotchas over genuine discourse. That is what is shoveled out to the population and that is now what is the main means of success are.

Absolutely... and then some curran. There's serious accusation that the news cycle are tempered by their favored party. (ie, Fox News = rigthy, Old Media Guard = lefty). Here's a perfect, PERFECT example: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/31/nyregion/us-attorney-warns-cuomo-on-ethics-case-.html?_r=0 The New York Times (not a "righty" news publication for sure) reports on a "sharply worded" letter to Governor Cuomo from the US Attorney leading the investigation. Let's give The New York Times kudos for covering this story. This is happening in their backyard after all... The rest of the national media? Ziltch. Nada. Why not, I wonder? This is a genuine corruption investigation of a sitting governor and a much-talked-about possible Democratic candidate for President. To channel my inner-Bidenism: This is a big fething deal! What is the missing "X Factor" here that makes this story so unsexy for the national media? Conversely, what was that "X Factor" did the fake investigation of Scott Walker (potential Republican Presidential candidate) have that made it so appealing? Likewise, what "X Factor" did Christie's Bridge Controversy (another potential Repub. Prez candidate)have that makes it more important than the shuttering of a commission investigating widespread political corruption in New York? There is no plausible answer here except the obvious one. Or, it's like that a certain former Senator from New York who is the frontrunner for the D nomination in 2016 have anything to do with it? /tin foil
