Could be March/April or even May as well. They announced Lost Patrol (and Blood Bowl I think) also several months in advance.

Last week, we teased the upcoming Gangs of Commorragh box.

Well, we’ve just got our first box into the office and we thought we’d share with you a few details of what’s inside.

First off, the cover art of the box is very cool: an evocative battle of blade and bolt at high speed through the spires of the Dark City. We see a Hellion and a Reaver trading blows at near-supersonic speeds – off to a good start.

Opening it up, we can see the box is packed with stuff. There are no less than 6 Reaver Jetbikes and 10 Hellion skyboarders in there. Even for the models alone, this set is a great deal and a perfect place to start for anyone wanting to collect an airborne force from the Dark City.

The idea with this box, though, is that these form rival gangs that will battle for supremacy and loot though the spires of the Dark Eldar’s decadent capital. Speaking of which, you get some spires – cardboard pinnacles of Commorragh’s many towers that your gang can expertly weave around (or, if you’re unlucky – collide with…)

The game itself is entirely self-contained set, and all the rules you need to play are in the box. There is a quick start guide for those who want to get battling straight away, quick reference cards for both players, and a more detailed rulebook for those who want even more depth to their games, including expansive rules for a campaign.

Gangs of Commorragh really comes into its own in campaign play. Each warrior can advance, gain skills and be equipped with all the usual wargear you’d expect from Reavers or Hellions. While the customisation of individual models is high, the campaign mechanics themselves are simple and scalable, allowing anything from a couple to dozens of participants, making it ideal for a gaming club.

For those who want, you can also expand your murder-pack into a more powerful gang with more Hellions and Reavers from the Dark Eldar range (though you get easily enough to start off with in the box, with models to spare in both gangs).

We’ll have more news on the gameplay itself very soon, as well as a few gangs that the studio created to test the game out in the office.

This set will be on it’s way later in the month, so keep your eyes on the skies…

The card terrain looks eh... Rulebook looks really small, not that it's a bad thing.

There's lame terrain... and then there's that stuff. Wow that is disappointing.

First off, the cover art of the box is very cool...

I dunno GW. If the first good thing you're got to say about the game is 'the box art's cool!' then that's not exactly a hard sell.

So, is this at least a cheap way for people to get their DE fast attack?

looks ultra gakky. With the sizes of this rulebook, campaign rules are probably are ultra shallow

Thats a lot more minis than i was expecting. Depending on the price it could be basically another start collecting box for DE.

That is... disappointing. I wish they had put more terrains in it.

Depending on price, I think we're looking at the X wing of GW... Also, again with the pricing, an excellent Dark Eldar army booster.

If the price is right I am tempted! Looks fun and if you can include lots of other models from the DE range it (which it suggests) it could have lots of playability.

You can fit an indepth campaign system onto just a few pages of you word it right so it doesn't phase me that the rulebook looks thin.

I have never been interested in Dark Eldar before this. But I will be watching this with a lot of interest.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I haven't thought about playing dark eldar, but that looks like a decent deal depending on price. Game might not have meat to it, but neither does blood bowl in my opinion, and I love blood bowl. I'd like to see an expansion with the winged guys.

A pretty good amount of models for the price....though that terrain is disappointing to say the least. The rules could be good, I've enjoyed the new Warhammer Quest quite a bit, and I like the rules to Overkill (at least on paper, have yet to play it).

I do feel this was a huge missed opportunity to not be aerially based so they could include most of the Dark Eldar range (and to encourage people to buy more DE models) and give the game play a ton more variability

That terrain is gak.

The game itself? we`ll have to see!

I hope it`s good either way, so GW will cotinue it`s streak of decent boardgame rules.

I'm quite disappointed with the cardboard terrain. My dog could tear up a cardboard box and make it look more dark eldar-y.

Reminds me of their attempt at Dark Eldar ships for BFG... poop shapes with blades on.

Ah well.

It's going to be an instabuy for me if it is $75 or less. Otherwise, I think I may pass unless the gameplay is ridiculously good.

Kinda reminiscent of bfg for some reason. Maybe it's the firing and maneuver arc templates.

Like a skirmish bfg with a campaign. The spires acting like 3D asteroids. Looks like we'll need some 3D printing on shape ways to fix that and a hazy, printed mat that looks like an above view of a dark city in the web way.

Neat. 'Terrain' obviously really means obstacles, but that's fine.
Not for me but it's good to see GW trying different things.

For something more model you could just use the plastic Roman columns for wedding cakes. You get big packs of them cheap. Especially if you go to Michaels with the 40% coupon.

That is a lot of jetbikes. I may pick this up after all if the price is right. It might just end up being a great deal to get some of these models since I have none. All depends on the price. Also I wonder if I could jury rig co-op into campaign play because that would get someone I know to actually play. Then it turns into a mini 40k rpg campaign with mini's.

Chances are it'll pop up for pre-order around the end of the month.

Depending on the rules I may get it along with a box of Wyches for extra conversion bits.

There is not this idea.

Like a lot of others up above, I think the terrain is pretty underwhelming. Depending on the price, though, that could be a pretty sweet deal for the figures themselves.

I don't think that a rulebook has to be super beefy to be well made and allow for a lot of variety. You can fit a lot into a few pages. Making no judgement on that yet.

Depending on the price it might just be best to buy 2x Reavers and call it a day. Hellions don't have good rules.

That looks...underwhelming, at best.

The yellow Reaver scheme looks amazing though. Probably just to show the different Kabal's/Cults but damn, that looks nice.

I don't know if anyone here is a Star Citizen fan but that yellow paintjob reminds me of the Consolidated Outland Mustang a lot.

Anyways on topic I like the yellow scheme myself, but have my DE scheme locked down for whenever I get to painting them. I don't own any hellions but if I was to own some for completion sake it would be from this boxed set and never again.

Spoiler:
