So the mini/book bundle was sold out, but I was able to order them individually. Must have lucked out there.

Even pre-orders go out of stock - GW can only produce and order a finite amount of any item for stock. Plus with them releasing new stuff every single week they likely can't backlog stock for excessive periods. In the end they use past sales date to predict order volume and try to meet it.

Sometimes they get it right (actually a lot of the time they do); sometimes they get it wrong and they are left sitting on stock; others they are left making new production runs.

Sometimes something like this model and book can be a wildcard because they'll get loads of people who never bought into the franchise lines picking both up. So sales can randomly spike for no apparent reason save that its really popular.

Plus it might be that they knew they couldn't produce and store enough stock so were expecting to run out fast .

I was lucky to get the book at my local GW, but have had to back order the model - apparently they only got 6 of the model in, and they were gone within the first half hour of opening.

Did manage to grab the coaster set, though.

I think the last event I went too was probably the 30th W40K anniversary many years ago, so wasn't too sure what to expect especially as my closest store is Warhammer World. Turned up about 20min before they opened at 10 and by the time they actually opened there were a few dozen people queuing, but it seemed most of those were actually there for the gaming tables.

I was quite surprised to see the coaster set was only £10, I assumed it would be at least £15! Even more surprised to see they had no qualms about giving out a complete set of the badges and art cards, though...I was a bit worried it would be a "1 random thing per purchase" situation!

I got the complete art set along with two badges: Severina Raine and Greyfax, plus the free events novella. While he didn't have many books or minis, he did have a massive bag of badges and more than enough event novellas to last him a month at the very least.

I did show up before opening time just to be on the safe side and get both book and mini, as I rang the store the day before and asked the owner if he had any left. He was quite honest and neat about it by stating that it was first come, first serve, one per customer. So no grabbing two or three for your mates.

LOVE the sculpt, but this is my first resin experience and I'm not impressed. A ton of flash and a wonky scabbard. Not so wonky that it's worth trying to return, but if the piece was somewhere more obvious I'd be very grumpy.

Placement of the vents and tabs is a bit annoying, takes some care when removing and cleaning the model, but overall no flash or holes on my part.

If its bent then hot water (or a hair dryer) will soften it so you can straighten it and cold water will set the new position

Huh - the GW I went to didn't mention badges or art cards, though there was a small mountain of novellas on the counter. Were they just at certain locations?

They should have had them at all the GWs but I think the manager could decide how to give them out so they might not just have been piled up to take

The old kettle did the trick alright. Not quite right - the sword turned out to be bent too and a sabre is a tricky shape to realign - but close enough for Imperial work.

I had only looked on the main GW site, where it was listed as book+figure or just figure. I'm presuming the book was listed on its own on BL site. Since my only interest was in the figure, i didn't look there.

PSA for people getting Severina Raine today at #BlackLibrary Celebration. The instructions say plastic glue. DO NOT DO THIS. Use super glue as she is resin.

I very much doubt that. Eisenhorn is also resin, as were the various (non-Astartes mind) one-offs before her.

I was going to get her, then I saw that $35 price tag for 1 foot infantry model, she must be hell of a top shelf ******, I'll try to get her via 2nd hand some day.

The sculpting is completely different for plastic vs resin, so that seems unlikely.

Oh, I accept it is probably just a copy/paste error - but it is still one that should've been caught before the model was released.

Hopefully no-one ended up spending time yesterday or today wondering why their poly cement has done nothing to help stick her together...
