Subject: Re:Rainbow Six Siege - Operation Steel Wave
- Chalet rework
- Sam Fisher joins Attackers
- Reworked ping system
- Reworked optics
- Defenders now have a shared pool of reinforcements (10 regardless of how many players are on the team)
- New hard breaching gadget for attackers
- Reworked EMP grenade (will disable instead of destroy gadgets of defenders)
- Match replay alpha phase
- Map ban for ranked and unranked
Sadly no mention of Tachanka and Castle reworks, or the next elite skins, though it probably still is Doki who was leaked all the way back in May.

It's been a while since the last Splinter Cell game, but now he's turning up again. I just started the second season of Ghost Recon: Breakingpoint, which has the player working with Sam. Makes me wonder if Ubisoft is laying the groundwork for a new Splinter Cell game.

But not having to chase up spankers who rush off for that suicidal spawn peek or operators like Maestro who need time to deploy their gadgets in particular places can now leave it to anchors like Doc and Rook to do it for them. Also, faster ops who go for hatches can do more than two on their run if need be. Added bonus, when running custom games where you teach newbies the ropes, this also helps a lot.
And again, being down one player doesn't immediately force you to play with potential holes in your defences.

Current joke is, Ubi's putting Sam in everything but a new game. Expect him to cameo in Assassin's Creed Valhalla later this year.
Sam's missions in Breakpoint are awesome though (except for the first one, which is a stupid rail shooter), especially that final mission, well worth playing if you've maxed out the Echelon skill set and gotten the full Echelon uniform and goggles kit along with a silenced pistol you're comfy with.

In short, new customisable scopes incoming, with a massive overhaul on who can get what. People who love running with DMR's will be extra pleased, as they gain access to the 3x scope that was originally on Capitão and Big Rhonda's lmg's only. So higher magnification and a clearer aiming point, ace!
Below are the lists of who gets what scope, something that pops out straight away: Doc and Rook both no longer have ACOG's. My IQ.T loses ACOG on both 553 and G8A1 Bit of a bummer as I was one of the few people who couldn't get used to an ACOG until a couple of seasons ago.

Next elites have been leaked: Buck in alpine gear and Tachanka(!) showing off his pecs and tats. Latter means, his rework won't be far off then, either mid-season now or next season for sure.
Also seen a preview of upcoming alternate outfits: Medieval helmets and whatnot, plus muppet skins for an upcoming event.

New season has been delayed for an unknown time due to some game-breaking bugs still plaguing TTS.
Meanwhile, stumbled across this one, where people go about creating a game mode of their own:
- five attackers
- one defender who plays as Oryx
- Attackers hide and Oryx has to track them down, he can only kill them after knocking them down first. Attackers may only melee back if they survive the knockdown, or are the last attacker standing.
- No guns may be used and most gadgets, or at least the lethal ones, are not allowed

Subject: Re:Rainbow Six Siege - Operation Shadow Legacy (Sam Fisher next attacker)
- Ace's S.E.L.M.A.'s are down to two charges instead of three per package
- Frost gets the ITA12S as a secondary weapon
- Glaz got some tweaks done on his scope to make him more attractive
- Melusi gets the MP5 and loses the T-5
- Oryx loses the MP5 and gets the T-5
- Some stuff about dealing with shields and how they will now also block explosive damage for others standing behind a shield user
Melusi getting the MP5 feels like a buff on top of an already powerful operator, when she isn't voted out. YMMV but the T-5 never felt like a good weapon, so giving it to Oryx, who already has a rather mediocre shotgun, feels like a downgrade, but what do I know? Ubisoft says that the T-5 is one of the best defender weapons out there right now.
Hopefully we should be seeing some TTS footage and feedback of the reworked Tachanka sooner or later, I know Chris from Varsity Gaming is already doing this. I know Bikini Bohdi is already whining a lot online about the rework, but feth that guy.
In a nutshell: 5v5, everybody has access to assault rifles (AK, RC4 or C7E), their faction sidearm and recharging frags and flashbangs. Ten minute rounds, unlimited respawns and to win you need to kill enemy players and grab the candy they drop. Team with the most candy wins.
Purist will complain that it takes the game even further from the initial vision of year zero.
But yes, an interesting area denial gadget that is not all-powerful paired with a good selection of weapons (DMR on defence is sick, move over Jäger, there is a new spawn peeker in town) and the ability to give hatches and walls love taps for quick breaching without needing to nag to another player to bring a shotgun, shorty or revolver. She does make overly large peekholes, which is probably her biggest drawback right now.
Also..
Reworked + elite skin, they went all-out on the lord. So far feedback has been very favourable and supportive, making him a solid anchor / roamer with good utility in both roles. Haven't had a chance to give him a try yet, but looking forward to it whenever I get the chance to do so.
With that the Russians join the GSG9 and SAS in having their entire team in elite skins. Chances are Monty will be next, as Castle may see a rework / overhaul, if they continue support for Siege for another year.

Two trailers out, one capping off the tourney arc, further cementing how much of a bitch Kali is:
And a preview of the upcoming season, Crimson Heist:
In short:
- Florence is a new attacker, from Argentina
- Comes with Russian pistol (the bad one) and either the AR-33 (Thatcher's gun) or the SR-25 (BBeards DMR)
- Comes with two drones packed with C4
- Once drone is deployed is will move, cannot stop or reverse and has a timer
- Once the explosive is activated it will locked down and armour up, counting down
- Some attackers gain a new single shot sidearm that shoots a small explosive charge
- Border has gotten a small overhaul
Also, PC will finally start the beta of match replay, making the tracking down of hackers even easier now.

Subject: Rainbow Six Siege - new operator: Florence with IED drones
Knowing Ubi, this is probably unintentional, as his selection of guns, not to mention a lot of the other recent roster additions and their selection of firearms, is a bit.. odd.
But if you want to take the joke all the way, IIRC the AR-33 does come with a Union Jack skin.

Pick-ban deltas are still pretty much the same, with Ash/Jäger still being the most picked ops. Ditto on the bans, pretty much still the same.
Biggest thing I've seen is that Nerfbeard has been hit again! Shield HP from 50 down to 20, MK17 damage down from 49 to 40 and Nokk will be immune to certain gadgets whilst cloaked (Ela's Grzmots, Banshees, EDD's, proximity alarms and metal detectors), but this is TEST SERVER ONLY at the moment.
Also noticed, no more season passes! To unlock new operators you either put down the R6 credits, renown or as an early unlock via the premium battle pass.

EDD immunity is great for casual and lower ranks, Kapkan is good, but not a popular pick in the higher ranks, as once Kap's been spotted by a drone, players with decent map knowledge (or just plain paranoia) will know where most traps will be put nine times out of ten. Nokk being able to ignore Grzmots however? Ace, as a good Ela always puts those mines overhead and out of reach, so you either need to detour or just eat that concussion and hope she's not around. Ditto with wub-wubs, though given Melusi's ban rate, chances of seeing this in action will be slim to nil.
Mira's mirrors are still one of the biggest game changers around, especially after the player base found out how to best use them, i.e. not as Ubi had intended, which was part observation, part slow-deploy firing port. The ability to put a bulletproof observation window into a reinforced wall, taking out a blindspot, wins games. Ubi caught on to this and had Mira deploy her mirror as most players do in last year's CGI event movie: one wall reinforced, put mirror on edge, other wall unreinforced, shoot hole next to mirror with pocket shotty and use that as firing port.
edit.
Breakdown of the dev stream and what lies ahead in terms of tweaks, buffs and nerfs, along with feedback from Chris.
It also pretty much confirms what most people thought: this may be the last year of Siege, or at least this iteration.
