I've finished the Stompa. Thought it looked better without the gun shield. Went for a camo paintjob, to make it easier to hide.















@Mr Nobody - I did the sponge technique for some chips, and actually went back and did it on the Squiganaut at the same time. Happy with the result.

Looks great painted up loving the Classic orcs and the camo theme, really suits the stompa for some reason?

Even when you explained how you were going to use the Armingers I couldn't see it; now, complete, it looks terrific! What a novel concept to exploit the Ork penchant for incorporating captured systems (and anything else lying around handy) into their builds. Great paint job to boot!

Just come back from it's first game; it has a problem moving around terrain, but it managed to punch Mortarian into space

Oh, wow, what a cool kitbash! The use of other, smaller mechs for the arms and head worked much better than I imagined when I saw the pre-assembly photos. That was truly inspired!

I've almost completed the build on the final 'naut for the army i'm taking to Leicester GT in December

Army list


I've gone for a mad dok painboy theme. He's wired himself in like a dreadnought.



The arms and legs and feet are chopped up and re-arranged so I can try and make him standing or walking. I've added in Defiler and Chaos Knight bits too.



I'd like to give him a huge bloody butcher's apron; might try the wet wipe with PVA method I used for the grot landship sail.

I've finished the build. I've added a missile rack from a gsc buggy to make it as least slightly wysywig - although I find I'm caring less and less about that these days - and the butcher's apron is one of my baby daughter's bibs, chopped up. Someone remind me how to do blood splatter, and dried blood please

That's a nifty kitbash-- all the parts fit together seamlessly, like they were from the same kit. The apron is a fun addition.

Love the idea of the doktanaut! Great choice of face as well, really funny to see his little face poking out. Top work!

Well thats me done with orks I think, until the new codex drops in spring. Next army will be out-of-the-box marines so won't be posting them here; probably see you in the new year guys, unless I do an army showcase thread (it's finding the time to get it all out and photograph it). What I will do is post a pic of the army i'm taking to the Leicester GT in December, when i've finalised my list, which will include at least 3 of the bg guys.

Here's the army shot for the GT at the weekend. I've only taking the suqiganaut and bossnaut, as the stompa struggles to deploy or move anywhere on uktc terrain maps, as I found out in my practice game.

I've built some snot tanks. Admech breacher kit, plus metal oldhammer snot. Missile rack and mortar from gsc buggy, big rokkets from morkanaut, grenade launchers from cargo 8 ridgehauler.

These look great! Tiny but brutal!

Cheers Olthannon! i've undercoated them but they will have to wait for a paint job since i've got tourney this weekend and they didn;t make the list, and I need to paint other stuff. I'll post army pic and list if I get a chance. In the meantime - not a vehicle but I just completed this mob, the squig fang boyz, who will be ridin in the squiganaut coem saturday.



The mek workshop in the background is what i'm currently painting, as I am also takin it to the tourney. Sadly no conversion, as it's a multi part, 'use the model' fortification where you deploy the bits 1'' apart - and I want there to be no ambiguity when it comes to the games.

Here's my army for the International Team Tournament in Coventry this weekend. Big Mek Bobby Loo Ellen has tasked his 3 apprentices to build big robots to see who can stomp the most gitz and the lads are hanging around to loot some more scrap.

It was a great event. I lost every game by a lot but had a blast, really good fun. My team won a couple of rounds, and I got to stomp some space elfs....

Anyway, I won't be losing any more games now Rokkit Squadron is complete.

Losing games means you are playing games, which is what this is all about, right? I wish I was playing games...

Those rockets are really cool. The snotling pilots are a fun little detail.

Thanks Josh! yeah, the playing is the thing; every game told a story, or was just a good laugh, or both, and the fun started at list building weeks before, and was in discussing the meta and match ups with team mates. No local clubs where you are mate? No chance of a game?

Well, there are quite a few ex-pats in the area, but we all have such disparate work and/or social schedules that it's hard to get together. When it does happen, it's always later at night, which doesn't work for me. Maybe when my son goes to uni and I have fewer obligations at home, but for now I'm a community of one.

Ah, obligations; I get it, Got 2 young 'uns myself, so appreciate how hard it can be to carve out the time, but at least i'm lucky about having a club and no lack of people to play. I find big events suit me as a way of cramming games in and giving me something to work towards with painting, even if I only go to 2 a year. Hang in there bud!

It was actually better when he was younger-- he was my regular opponent for Deadzone and Frostgrave, up until he turned into a teenager and became too cool for his dad...
