Looks like I'll be able to join in this month, after a big slump in the previous months. Had these Infiltrators lying around for almost a year now and finally managed to get some work done on them:

Still wip, but I think I'll be able to finish at least a couple of them.

Hopefully Para will get a vote up.

Horus Heresy is a little too focused. You can see the revolt stirred by the broader “Space Marine” topic. and focusing on the HH would narrow that down even further. A broader topic like “Uprising” ‘Civil War” “Revolt” or “Schism” would let people do HH stuff, but not lock us down into a very specific range.

On that topic, anyone have any vote ideas for April while we wait? Trickery, deceit, or Illusion would go with the 1st? "Aliens and Outsiders” for those who felt constrained by SMs this month?

I like the trickery & illusion idea for April; call it “A trick of the light”, could cover all sorts of things.

Also “rebellion” would work for HH, the current Eldar protest and many other things.

Security blanket.
Could be cops, could be electronic safety gubbins, could be big thick armour.

Health and safety gone mad!
Could mean just about anything

Now that Spring is springing, it might be fun to use renewal/rebirth as a theme.

Absolute mare so far - from exploding rattlecans, through dodgy spraying, right up to just plain bad painting, all adding up to a distinct lack of interest/care on the paint front. Hoping a bit more panel work, some tidying and detailing will have it resembling passable.

Knights Sanguine Space Marines Veterans proof pic


I'm away with work for a few days so taken these with me to paint in the evening. (will be back on the evening of the 1st so final pics will go up then if ok with everyone)

Seeing how little month is left, I finally started with my entry... or at least on of the terminators. I said to myself I will start with them once I finished the 4 sisters in the background. But I dawdled and now need to get this clawman painted up fast.

I may not be able to finish my entry this month, last minute holiday to Turkey.

Still WIP...hopefully my last minute basing stuff gets here in time

Finished! After a whole decade or more! My Mass Effect tribute is finally done! Thanks to the painting contest and everyone here for the support and encouragement and reason to get stuff done!

Anyway, enough enthusing, on with the entry pics:

Generally happy with the results. I haven;t learned how to finesse contrast paints properly yet, so they still look very contrast-esque. However, they all look much better having a full coat of paint in the display case, rather than gathering dust in some bits box, so I'm happy to say its done!

All done. This was fun to do. May jump in again at some point. Happy with how the model has turned out for the most part, but there's always little things you wish were just a little different or better after it's done.

Well that's pretty darn cool, I especially like the addition to the base. Very Frazetta of you.

That is a nice champion. I like the greenish cast to the black.

And another 5 marines off the pile of shame and joining the company. These are the push fits from the indominus box, and while it shows in a few places, there were surprisingly few problems with that format. I really like the assault guys, both these and the full kit. So much more character and motion than the basic riflemen. Just a few more of them to do.

Shouldn't you be able to look at all the entries and tell what the theme is? Some of these suggestions are so broad that you could paint any model in existence and find a way to tie it to the contest theme. I would personally much rather see themes like "space marines". People complaining that they don't play space marines aren't really getting the point of painting contests.

This painting contest is more about egalitarian support for reducing shame piles than any real attempt at setting agendas for people

And done shortly before the deadline. Still need to figure out a name and some decal for the right shoulderpad, but that will follow once I paint his 4 squadmates. Was weird painting a Space Marine, the last one was I believe last year for the painting challenge. Time flies.

I'm nowhere near done so will have to bow out for this month but some great looking entries coming in and I will look forward to voting

Barely on time, but I managed to finish 4 Infiltrators. Planned on 5, but sorta mixed up some pieces and finished painting parts that didn't fit together for the 5th, whoops.
