New releases, filter on print on demand worked for me

I already ordered one, even though I still have my original copy. After half the pages fell out, I just pulled out the rest of them and stuck them in a 3-hole binder. Also lots of tabs, so it's hardly mint condition.

Here's hoping for a Realms of Chaos reprint too, and Chapter Approved for a stretch goal.

F - is the Fire that rains from the skies.
U - for Uranium Bomb!
N - is for No Survivors...

Japan

I just ordered my copy. ¥7000 plus ¥1500 shipping-- that's cheap for Japan.

Now showing Striders for Deadzone!

Painting total as of 5/25/2024: 49 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain and two walkers

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Well crap, the Japanese price + shipping is a smidge under the price I'd have to pay if I wanted another one.

I do hope they do the same for Legion of the Damned or whatever the third hardback is called, already have reprints of Rogue Trader and Realm of Chaos, both excellent time capsules that I've mined for ideas in the past, the mission generator tables were always fun to roll stuff from.

Realms of Chaos are available. But, Warhammer World and Warhammer Cafe exclusives, with unreliable stock levels. But they are out there!

I tried to resist this siren call, even glanced through a friend's copy to see if this is really worth having. (Unfortunately, it is.)

I caught the Oldhammer bug a few years ago and it still has me in its grip. I just couldn't pass this up.

Maybe they'll do the Realms of Chaos books someday . . . and whatever that book that has photos of all the Warhammer World dioramas is called . . .

I'm not even going to crack mine open (assuming it comes shrinkwrapped), since I already scanned my softcover one into my dataslate, just want to preserve one copy "to the family"

Part of the ship, part of the crew !

I was lucky enough to get hold of Jes Goodwin's "The Gothic and the Eldritch", but missed out on his Eldar sketchbook. Here's hoping
that one gets another limited/MTO run. Heck, even another compilation book of Jes' sketches since then would sell like hotcakes.

WOOT!

Got mine on order. I was shocked there wasn't a shipping charge for US, but I guess that's factored into the 20% overhead we pay.

Still, it's the one copy of the ruleset I've been lacking, and I just really wanted it for nostalgia's sake.

Question: was there ever a hardback version of 40K 2E? The one I've got is softback and is incredibly thin. Feels like it's missing half the volume it should have.

It never ends well

Second Edition was 3 separate books; rules, background, and armies as well as the black pamphlet codex. Plus another box with a book for Pyskers. That's probably why it seems so skinny.

F - is the Fire that rains from the skies.
U - for Uranium Bomb!
N - is for No Survivors...

There was never a hardback, no. Just the three softbacks.

I honestly think if they reissued a hardback of the Codex Imperialis from 2nd ed like Rogue Trader it would sell like gangbusters. It's basically the foundation of modern 40k storytelling.

I tried to get Lost & the Damned from WW when I was there, must have been out of stock. Would definitely get one if it became PTO, as I didn't get it in its day.

My Slaves to Darkness is pasted up from the WD errata back in the day, would be nice to have a "clean" copy as well...

I wonder if successful sales of the RT core book might give them incentive to dredge up old copies of the Compendium and Compilation and re-issue them as well. From what I understand it was Louise Sugden who was the main driver behind the effort, and I think she was the one who personally scanned an original copy of the RT book page by page and did the necessary cleanup and remastering or whatever to make this book possible. She's obviously not around anymore so there might not be an internal driver for it.

She was given the job of breaking down a pristine, archived copy for scanning and cleaning up. Not sure she championed it though.

Having copies of Compendium and Compilation, in terms of historical interest they’re just not the same as RT and the two RoC books.

Agreed, and I think that’s more likely if they did reprint a fourth book. The Compendium and Compilation would be nice as a combined book (both volumes in one book), for the art, old fluff, and nostalgia, but I don’t know if there’s enough interest from Grognards and the curious.

Apart from that, a combined reprint of Gorkamorka Da Roolz and Da Uvver Book would be nice.

I honestly find myself going more to my compendium than my RT rulebook when looking into retro-wayback questions.

But honestly, the more access to classics for more people, the better.

I would be down for a copy of the Compendium and Compilation, especially if they were combined into one book. All I have left of those two books are a couple page fragments from my brother's copy.

I'd also like to get my hands on the Book of Astronomican - it was the one book our group never picked up back in the day.

My understanding was that it was her idea in the first place and she had to lobby management and leadership to get permission to do it.

The Compendium was iconic.

Compendium and Compilation are White Dwarf content collections. Book of Astronomicon is separate, that's the first Chapter Approved. All three are great.

My two copies (one for the bookshelf of fame, the other to paw over) have been despatched.

I'm guessing they are using stocks from Warhammer World to fulfill initial orders and going MTO for the remainder.

So I'm glad to be getting them long before the expected 180 days, but would suck for those making the real-world visit to find they are not available to buy because they have been rerouted to mail orders

Maybe the data counters have figured out the sell-rate onsite was sufficiently slowed ?

180 day is their "get out of jail" card. They can't know for sure demand so better put worst case scenario as better to say 180 day and deliver sooner than say 90 days and deliver in 110 days.

180 day is not to be expected

Gotcha - thanks for the heads up - I've really only 1 previous MTO experience (the recent Warhammer Quest Cursed City cardboard expansions), and it was almost to the day of 180 days until they arrived.

Maybe I'll be a little bit less cautious in future MTOs now!

Did you actually get a tracking number?

Yeah, it is due to arrive tomorrow.

Well technically, I got a link with a GUID that goes to NShift Portal and lists UPS as the courier. I've not seen an ID that I can paste into the UPS site ... so it could all be a cruel joke, but I am still optimistic I'll have the books tomorrow

EDIT: I have a separate email from UPS confirming a trackable delivery for tomorrow - YAYYYYYYYY

Nifty.

I ordered from the US website, so I'll probably have to wait until the actual printing, or if GW decides to just ship over a big pile of them to the US from their stock.

Does Lost and the Damned have a lower sticker price than Slaves to Darkness there? It's a way bigger book!
