Okay, I stirred the pot a bit, but feth mate, I really feel bad. I am going to be the first to say that I am actually sorry for doubting you without hearing from you first.

Well, this chat blew up overnight didnt it ? I must admit i was wondering while reading Chazz's piece as to where my plague marines were and i assumed EoN knew exactly what was happening and that it was part of his plan. I do not think Chazz had any bad intentions and i am familiar with the excitement and eagerness to post a new piece so i cant give him gak for that. I think Chazz is a fine GM and there is no need for anyone to step down, i do not see why GM's cant have forces as they roll like anyone else and asking anyone to stop writing about their dudes is unfair imo. I think i'll write about Coggers end from my dudes perspective maybe bounce a few pms between chazz to make it consistent and looking at his last post i think perhaps small changes may need to be made to his post but i dont think deleting it is necessary.

Id like to think we can discuss such issues and not let it turn into a massive argument, i think we have done so today but only time will tell.

Okay, the delete thing was my bad. I should now specify, that I believe that removing it for the time being while Chazz and EoN talk things through, then reposting the complete, and cooperative version of the piece may be the best move. I do NOT mean delete, and it was pig-headed and an all together witch move on my part to even mention that.

I sincerely hope we can all look past this and laugh about it in the near future.

I would actually say props to BlackJack for being the only one to defend Chazz.

I would also ask Chazz in this case. He's the Inquisitor, and as such, he will have targets to throw you at. Just chuck'm a PM, and he should get back to you within 24 hours.

Does anyone have objections to Edward, Liza & Co popping up somewhere random and not terribly strategic. AKA like the beginning of an Indiana Jones movie? They'd still be based where I deployed. They're still not a combat force.

Hold on a second, not saying you need to step down from being a GM or something.

Really, one of the thing I was trying to point out (probably failing at pointing out) was that anyone, Chazz, Smudge, me, anyone, is in a bit of a bad situation when they're a GM that also plays. It's very easy (when in your own jurisdiction) to want to tip the things in your favor. Why? Because these are characters that we've all poured our hearts and souls into, and you want to see them not fall flat on their face. You want them to succeed. That temptation is there no matter who you are, and I freely admit if I were GM, I would have to either not have an army, or just be playing a villain force that is supposed to be defeated so I wouldn't fall into that particular pitfall.

Considering TS' absence, 2BJ's silence, the roll seemed to come from nowhere. If it was actually rolled, then I am sorry if I insinuated that it was all backdoor trickery. A fair roll is a fare roll. That's how the game works, and that's fine. There is nothing bad about winning fair and square.

The thing is I know TEoN personally. We are great friends. And I know just how much he pours into his guys and this story. So when I see something that makes my brain go "Eeeh, hold on, that doesn't seem right." concerning him, I want to make sure it's all good. Sorry about the violent reaction, but I do think there is some thing we need to talk about. Mainly, what to do about GMs who have armies in their own jurisdiction. Although it initially looked that way here, it was not the case. But I think we should figure out a good protocol. Again, even the best of us are tempted to tip the scales, so I'm not saying anyone is a bad bad person and should be shoved out. Quite the contrary, let's talk it out and make the whole thing work even better.

Personally, I have no problems with a GM having an army. And one of my armies is all about getting themselves killed in spectacular ways, so I really don't mind seeing a loss if I roll for it.

And Chazz did roll for the assault, and got a victory. I would have mentioned it, but I have been busy lately with stuff in real life, which is also why the Gargant event wasn't finished twelve years ago like it should have been. I don't suspect any crusader of cheating the system and not actually rolling for an assault. Chazz even mentioned that he was willing to kill off two major characters if he failed, but only two to three people knew that, so no one is hardly to blame on that.

After reading Gore's post with his crazy Khorne's nutties, I'm researching actual military tactics that could or would be used to deal with such forces? I'm thinking it might better my odds of beating them or at least stalemates, which I'm sorta banking on. Thousands of our forces will probably go out the window but I'm hoping for some interesting encounters.

Did any of you do any military research to help your posts and how you'd approach them for maximum efficiency? And yes, this is Warhammer 40K where most generals spit on actual tactics but I like to think a few rare commanders might actually think about them.

Using a different tactic won't necessarily help you out. The roll result trumps all. Some scenarios involve modifiers, but a Major Defeat won't turn into a Victory because of your army composition. I would recommend using an army composition you would have fun writing for, and not focus on killing the enemy the quickest. This is for fun, first and foremost.

I mean, my kroot are using knives (among other things) and they still got a major victory fighting orks this crusade, while astartes rolled poorly and got casualties everywhere against the same foe.

Well, I messaged Gore and I'm hoping we can maybe plot some bloody slugfest between our forces. I'm hoping we can get some good stalemates between each other before we figure out who wins the final conflict by the roll. I figured this could be pretty fun and be more realistic for us and leaving the roll for the final conflict... The tactics thing is to make it more reasonable for my Mongrel's to actually stand a chance. Hehe

So for those of you playing at home, here's the series of events:

Chazz: Rolls and gets a victory,

Chazz: Writes up a good post.

Palleus: Is taken aback by how sudden it is, thinks it looks a bit suspicious, and checks with TEoN to make sure.

Palleus: Reads TEoN's text back, and thinks it means his suspicions are confirmed. (The miscommunication was here)

Palleus: Flips out.

Palleus: Makes a giant post about what he thinks happened.

Palleus: Figures out what actually happened.

Palleus: Feels really, really stupid he just caused a lot of commotion for nothing.

So now that we're all caught up, I'd like to apologize to you, Chazz. I should have checked with you first.

I think our next step(s) will be to: edit Chazz's post, I'm not sure what will all be done with that. If, after people have all been caught up, this is still necessary, this would mainly be between Chazz and EoN, because it's his forces this mainly concerns. I'm not sure what all needs to be done in that area, if anything, so I'll move on to the point I think is more pressing, and I wish I had thought of this earlier and possibly saved people a few headaches:

Is there a way to include the other factions more, so they can have a more pressing role in Cogger's final moments. Chazz still did roll a Victory on this major assault, so that has to be kept in mind. But I would like to have other factions have some sort of role in what's to come, so long as it doesn't completely retcon Chazz's Victory. They did put their own time and effort into Cogger, and giving them no way to react besides 'pack up and leave' doesn't seem entirely fair to me, but again, I don't think it would be right to ignore Chazz's Victory. If anyone has ideas, I would be happy to hear them.

Nothing really just a misunderstanding.

In regards to Bladkjack I was planning on doing my own piece on my dudes in Cogger but if anyone has any other ideas i'll listen to see what they have to say.
