yep... more of that hopefully in the evening CET...i guess you all did not cross fingers hard enough...^^

vik we stopped at a hotel halfway seeing as it's a 6-hour drive, about 45 minutes to go.
my plan for today- flop onto bed, unpack essentials, flop some more, eat, go swimming, eat, flop, sleep. my perfect anti-travel lag thing. whether it will happen is another matter.

seems there will be a lot of floping to be involved in this holiday^^ hope all this flopping will not strain any ankles or such^^ tho i have to say a six hours worth of driving never hurt my kids...when we drive to the coast last summer we had that amount of driving too and the kids generally stayed better in shape than me and my wife^^ and she did all the drivingb and me i drove by train^^ so....seems you tenns get pretty slack these days^^

Ah, but kids have metric craptons of energy. teens are naturally sleepy and so imagine them after 6 hours of travel, no wi-fi and having just done 11 hours of tests over 7 days.

be sure of my deepest concolencies...seems that you barely keep awake/alive with a strong willpower effort...i sincerely hope for your well being and that your aprents provide you witha nourishing dose of food and entertainment to help you keep up the spirits^^... for some reason i cant picture myself asa teenager anymore... seems that this period is erased from my longterm memory...

so with all this cornwall talk...i see a current need for a change of subject... and to derail this discussion only new input is an apropriate way of doing this...
so i present the further deeds on my turret...:

namly the mounting of the maingun and a hatch and a barbarette (thankfully provided this term by shaso, who pointed it out to my in his thread of oddball tanks^^ go and have a look for yerself^^)

the barbarette bolter was done in the same fashion as the bolters form the sponsons, builot from cut and shaved mortars...
the maingun after some fruitless tries to rebuild a better version was salvaged from the earlkier turret tryout...and also notice the halfball connections to the turret, made form cherrybombs...i guess on a bigger scale this could also be done with tabletennis balls... an idea i maybe will try ot for future sponsonprojects...(can somebody say airship?^^)

so here are the pics...:





by the way, the turrets SM hatch and boltermount was mounted higher on a milkpackagecap...if someone would be interessted in such details^^

looking good. Although I do have to say the top of that turret looks perfect for a grenade bucket if you know what I mean.

i know what you mean...anything thrown in there is bound to tear open the tank...but the main thing/aspect of the tank is it´s attempted steampunkish look, this in itself is so much unrealistic as any tank/vehicle that has ever been produced from hannibal smith or macgyver^^

the work is purely based on its astethics and i guess it will later on provide other achilles heals as well...

yeppers, i thought that too and i am currently trying to figure out the amount of archwork and such decor and their possible positions... a thankful place would be the upper hull and the tracks of course...

and saw your recent update on the chimeara and comparrissionshot with the lancer...and posted there^^

as for painting...well i wont even try to make a schedule here^^
oh by the way...i try to make a stormbolter to stubber conversion for hatchmount...do you think this is wise? longer barrel and such things on the bolterbarrels of the SM outfit?

It "counts as" is a definite rule now. So go and extend that barrel!

my word exactly^^ and to tell a truth: i don´t know when or even if i will ever be able to field the behemoth anytime soon, would need to find a local gameing group first...or for that matter play at home with family^^

guess with all my mixed up troops i will rather look for a club...tho i have currently the feel that germany is not the right country for living and gaming in when your in to tabletop...

I wouldn't know, there seems to be plenty of GW support over there, you just need to look up what is in Berlin is all.

What about putting the hatch in the floor of the turret and a small rail with little firearms on them for the gunner/ commander to use?

Also what are your ideas for guunports on the main turret and the rear facing gun?

at shaso... guess when i have a bit of a force to play with (fully painted...honor codex please!) then i will look for some likeminded peeps in the nearer `hood...

well it is kind of on the floor lready only raised slightly... guess i have to put an unbased mini on it to better show...
thze railing idea has a ceratin thing... i grant ye that...have to digest that idea...firearms and such things could add lots of charcter even further...

ähm? what do you mean by that? the bolter and maingunbarrel are attached already? or do you mean stats? as for rules i am a true noob... toatlly unknownst to the big books atm... i only read the fluffy parts for now in them^^

yepppers... havent thought about that... the screaming part is the easiest^^ but i think i just love your periscope idea! i think i can find some useful tibes for that!!! consider that idea nicked^^

a cam might be a bit to techy looking for a steamtank tho...but i probably could do that the easiest way as i have lots of sprues from SM tanks...the hatches and rocketlacnher stuff and all... but the periskop is the thing!

i will get a pic of troops on the turret... more than two would look a bit too crowded... and there will be still the gunner seen on top...but a pair of pistoliers handguns straped to the railings would be fun...
