Eh, I'm sure that you won't be declared a heretic. It took me quite a while and a full explorator fleet running off to defect to the Tau for me to even get noticed, and and took the murder of an invasion force of Salamanders to get me excommunicated!

Well, in language, heretic means someone with ideals and beliefs that deviate from accepted social convention, not just folk who actively dislike or act against religion.
So it's not so much an insult if applied to a xenos, as you do hold beliefs outside of human culture...
