Make a hoe:
S S _
_ W _
_ W _
(s = stone, w = stick)
Equip the hoe and right click on grass. Eventually you'll get some wheat seeds.

Oh. My. Fething. God.
I've just stumbled across a cave- It hs gold, daimonds, lava, water, redstone, lapiz lazule, iron, coal, and obsidian. I've used over 100 torches lighting it up and I doubt I'm halfway done.

Requia wrote:Fairly standard cave if you get deep enough. The trick is finding them.
seriously, this one just keeps going!
I've just used all 200 of my torches, and still there's other chambers!
I've found at least 10 different lava lakes and at least 20 pools of water.

You don't find wheat,it has to be grown and cultivated by you.
Build a hoe, then use it on some grass, not only will it plow the land it might yield seeds, plant the seeds on the plowed land, and wait, keep animals and mobs (and yourself) from trampleing it.If you want it to grow faster, have water within 4 squares to make it dark brown (alluvial soil) which is more fertile.
Alot of work, but it means a poor piggy gets to live while you eat.
I've been trying to do this on my ipod touch's ripoff of Minecraft: Eden World Builder, and want to know if its possible in Minecraft
Delete/ destroy every single block. In Eden, I have a MASSIVE chasm spanning multiple loading areas, as well as many mini projects built. Would it be possible to destroy everything in minecraft? Or would you have blocks floating everywhere for pickup, etc

Item blocks despawn if they are left alone for a bit so yeah on classic or with a lot of time you could delete every block in your loaded chunks.

About how long would you think it would take to have an entirely empty world in mirecraft? Years?

Also, I just spawned a new world, and an epic castle thing with a water-slide (seriously) is right next to me. I'm building a castle of glass on top of it. (unless I just give up)

What was the mod someone posted on here awhile ago, the one that added hostile and non-hostile NPCs to the game?

Mattieu~~~~ It's not that eldar are bad, it's that they require a lot of intergration between units. Also, that doesnt prove anything other than GW has a huge hard-on for marines, and, given the option between making a xeno the best psykers or making a marine the best psyker, they will 9 times out of 10 choose the marine.

I posted links to it in that post. It's called Humans+.
n0t_u wrote:I just found a mod that apparently adds npc humans and possibly randomly generated towns. If it's any good I'll pass on a link.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Just finished the install and testing it now.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Seems to be going well. It's like there are factions or something because certain mobs will track down others.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright it works well and even adds a new challenge into the game as there are some day time hostiles. I haven't come across a town yet so I'm unsure if they're in it.
I just copied my entire .minecraft folder so I have the option of the normal game or this. Connecting online will most likely overwrite it with a fresh version of Minecraft undoing the mods.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Left my house to do some mining, door was open. Now my house is filled with hobos...
Have you any more experience with that mod? Any substantial or naggy bugs? Hows the AI? etc.
Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.
"You need not fear us, unless you are a dark heart, a vile one who preys on the innocent; I promise, you can’t hide forever in the empty darkness, for we will hunt you down like the animals you are, and pull you into the very bowels of hell." Iron - Within Temptation
Haven't really come across any bugs with it. As for the AI it seems alright except for the fact that when they get in water their AI seems to die. They'll just swim on the spot.
Keep in mind you'll have to clear them out when this happens as they will build up over a long period of time and cause some slow down. Other than that it seems alright.
I haven't tried to ride any of the horses though. Also I stopped using it for a bit after all the bandit raids.
The Pirates however seem completely useless to me besides the boat. Each spawns in a boat on the water. They have a sword and don't seem to do anything at all besides sitting in place.
Some of the NPCs also seem to have kind of like a cycle. The bandits for example will at times gather and go and attack one guy at the same time or even just go hunting for wild animals.
There's also an alignment factor in it to determine which NPCs will go after you and such. I thought it was interesting but didn't really notice it that much.
Also you have to stay offline when you use it as logging in will download a fresh version of the minecraft.jar and undo all mods. Handy for when you want to get rid of them or turn it off as you just copy it somewhere else, then copy it back in place when you want to turn the mods on.
is there any effective way of exploring cave systems? the one i have been exploring is much more massive than i originally thought and i keep finding new areas. i got lost for half an hour and id like to be able to mine without getting lost all the time.
I use the yellow brick road method. Lots of wool dyed yellow with a torch on the side which leads towards the way out.
But I get lost a lot anyway, especially if I fall down a hole into a new cave area. The desperate fight to clear the area of hostiles, seeing an ore I am excited about... oops, where did I fall into this area.
You just learn to dig your way to the surface and mark the spot to go back sometime
n0t_u wrote:Use torches where you have been and use redstone torches to mark out the exit path.
Something like this. Though I do like the touch of leaving a block and putting the torch on the side that leads out. Makes it easy to leave. Just drop the block and place the torch on the side facing you. I'd recommend dirt blocks, not all that common underground but not in short supply, and a torch or a redstone one, either works.

this system is so massive, it starts at sea level and goes down below 14, there are more than a handfull of rooms that are 30x30 with passages leading all over. the real problem is that most of the time im going through a hole in one floor and going out of the celing in another room, so i have lateral and vertical paths to follow.
i have started to put arrows on the floor made of dirt pointing towards the enterance but the cave has so many crazy features and elevation changes it makes it hard. im thinking about clearing the rooms and hallways into square and rectangle shapes so i can see better and mark my path better. the parts im not fond of clearing are the gravel piles that lead to areas and the cool looking sandstone stalagtites and stalagmites i have in my cave.
2nd day of playing minecraft, I must say I am sold!
At first I didnt realy get evrything, but now that I have made my own flat, with floating tree farm I can understand why people like it so much.

If you get to coordinates that you know aren't below the sea, consider digging upward to get out, Build floodworks and never ever dig a square that's directly above you, water and lava are both hazards.
well my continued exploration has been pulling piles of resources out of the ground but i keep finding more and more cave, i think i am just going to mine the thing out in huge blocks so i can finally avoid getting lost.

Put up redstone torches up leading to the way out.
tip- put torches up on the left. Follow the left wall, and (eventually) you'll get out.
