Turns out I quite like little teaser shots...obviously not as much as full shots.

Looking good so far. The tail looks good.

OK you tease and tempt but never really deliver however early indication is interesting but I have to say I am not sold on the mace tail myself but thats down to personal taste.

I like the idea of the base flow using the tail great idea and will hold of judgment until completion (although I will guess things will change before then )

Never? I think you mean rarely.

Sure, you can't tell much yet, but actually Hope's rear part is completely finished and will not be subject to change anymore. The shoulders, neck and chest are the only unfinished parts, but even those are mostly done.

Yes, it often does, but sometimes "personal taste" is just a tool to justify any questionable decisions you made along the way. So, yes you can boil it down to taste, but sometimes it's still just bs in everybody elses eyes and you're probably lying to yourself. If not, celebrate being a unique individual at least for the moment.

I'm glad you like it. I'd prefer to present the real deal too, but that will take another couple of days. And once I'm finished with this one, I'd like something simple. Maybe a conversion that takes me less than 50h.

Yeah, probably, Neil!

Update:
  • Just had a moment to install the cranial implant and to resculpt the skull protection that I had removed. It was a delicate work and I'm not 100% satisfied, but I'll see what can be done with some sanding and maybe another layer of putty, once it has cured.

  • Once the skull is finished, the neck armor is next, then the chest and shoulder armor, maybe some armor plates for the legs too and then I'll finally attach all the tubes/cables and final details, like a purity seal or two and then Hope should be good to go.

Oh come ON Baiyuan, you are as slow as I am for crying out loud! Work faster..

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Sure, no problem come over to Germany and take care of my classes, my tax declaration and my studies and I promise I'll finish Hope in no time. Nah seriously, it's not just work, may hayfever is acting up too. It's still below the surface, but I makes me so tired I have to take a nap every other afternoon, which doesn't exactly make me very productive.
Tomorrow I've got a day off though and I'm determined to make good progress (I'm not saying finish) on Hope. Then again, there is the tax declaration... but I'll squeeze both in somehow.

Didn't have as much time as expected today, but I made good progress anyway.

I managed to sculpt the basic layer for the throat and neck armor and it turned out much better than expected.

I'll add another level of detail to it, so it's not done yet, but will be by the end of the night.

I'll have Hope finished before the 15th, maybe I'll even have started the paintjob, before I get swallowed by that big black hole that is D3.

Finished the next layer of the neck armor this afternoon and what I had in mind worked out quite well.
It's pretty much done, but what I've been sculpting so far is still unfinished until all of the sculpting is done and I can carefully sand and cut away any flaws. After that I'll add the final details like rivets and only then it's really done, but I'll show you another preview anyway.

I think you should shun rivets altogether and go for bolts ..Heresy ! ;-) ( running away whilst typing that )

Hehe, ok. I'm not in league with the =L=eague and I'm not necessarily a rivet-afficionado, but rivets where rivets are due. Bolts would add an industrial touch that I don't want, I'm going for a gothic/scientific mix.
I've been having an eye on those anteno bolts and washers for quite a while though. I think I'll finally buy some on the shopping spree that will commence right after receiving news of how much tax is due for last year. (assuming it all goes well)
