I think you misunderstand True Neutral, Shroud. Being neutral is not the lack of interest in life or death, law or order. It is rather the grey path, for those who know that one way or the other is a dangerous extreme, and that law breeds totalitarianism, and chaos creates corruption. The True Neutral knows that good and evil are simply concepts one generates from his philosophical view, and that good and evil are truly irrelevant things.

yeah. I think your character (if he would be on the table at ALL) would be lawful neutral/lawful good. technically my character could be true neutral, leaning towards chaotic.

while he dos't delight in wanton butchery, or strict adherence to law, he simply decides to kick both the law, and chaos to the curb, and sdoes whatever benefits him...our group's Han Solo. With chitin.

“This one’s next.” Said the coalition security officer, walking into the hanger bay. Tennisk Vann had just finished making the last checks on the engine, and most of the other crewmen were at their flight stations, and the maintenance (droids) were locked up.
The city of Ies was located some 2 miles above the planets surface, a windswept steppe of salt flats, and chlorine oceans. Supported be a single massive grav-reactor. And located within the Murkuss system. As the coalition security forces swept the vessel, looking for anomalies in the floor and walls, such as hollow spaces, or irregular fluxes, Tennisk yawned, spreading his four outer mandibles wide, and blinking, sending a bulletproof fleshy curtain over his eyes for a millisecond. When the security forces were finished checking up, Tennisk began liftoff.

“Sheilds Up, computer calculating out-system route. Everything stowed?” the reply came in the raspy growl of an E’nathi. “Yess.” Tennisk spread his Vernid mouthparts again in a smile. And clacked his inner teeth together. “Alright, I’m going to check on the ‘special’ cargo.” Unbuckling his crash webbing, and standing up on his chtinous legs. The Vernid exited the cockpit of his ship, and entered the lounge. Standing on the table. He fished an electromagnetic key from his pocket and attached it to the ceiling. Moving it in a complex pattern over said ceiling, the entire roof plate came loose with a THUNK. Placing a hand on either side of the interior, the Insectomammal hoisted himself into the small square hole in the roof. When he was in, he turned on a lume-rod, and made a check of the extra cargo they had brought. muttering to himself as he checked everything off in a notepad “Ten disruptors, three barrels of gelignite, six crates of various ‘substance’ a rack of shock cannons, seven ionite bombs, and a group of chilceran weave-sculpts that had gone missing from a museum about a week ago.”

Ticking these off, he decided that it was time to check on the most volatile cargo. Dropping down and sealing the smuggling compartment, Tennisk moved over to a wall. And moving aside a faux switchboard, he typed a few commands into the keyboard situated there. A large, 2-foot thick section off decking slid over a few feet away.
Originally this was meant to house the extensive stores of coilgun ammo on the ship. And feed into the AP weapon. But Tennisk had had the large ammo store emptied. Putting the non-reactive ammo outside the ship. Fixed onto the gun itself. The massive ammo storage was instead used for one of the most insidious trades in the galaxy. It was common knowledge that the best way to make a profit was off the miseries of others, and once you started down the path that smugglers, slavers, killers, mercs and bounty hunters took, you get a warrant out for you on at least 3 planets very quickly. Tennisk had a warrant out for him in half of Arcturan space, as well as 5 other star systems.

He plied the spaceways for profit. Nothing more. And tended to gain most of his money ‘under the table.’ This way was one of the most profitable, but it could also get you sixty to life, or ten seconds in front of a firing squad.

A quarra crewman walked up to the hole in the floor, armed with a stun-gun. “How much will they fetch?” asked the frogman. The grasshopper lookalike stared back. “Considering that its Duklo? Maybe seven thousand each.” He griped. In the ammo pit were members of several sentient species. Including an E’nathi warrior chained and shackled in his own cell. “It’d better.” Grumbled the Quarra, known as Groaak. He pointed to the E’nathi “That one took us a damn lot of trouble to get chained.”

The smugglers had gotten the slaves from a pirate who was drunk at the time. It was one of the best deals they had ever gotten.

“Lets just hope Duklo lifts the damn death-threats now.” Said Tennisk.

The deck rumbled, a massive E’nathi even larger than the one in the pit thundered over. His bionic eye glinting. “Duklo pays us, or I rip him apart.” Rumbled the saurian.
Contrary to popular belief in the more ‘civilized’ areas of the galaxy, not all E’nathi were as self-sacrificing as some. Most of the rainforest ones would do anything as long as they got paid. As their culture was that of tribal mercenaries. Working for pay for other tribes.

“Drasin, Duklo has a chained ghoul if my memory recalls.” Warned Tennisk. “That thing was lobotomized to serve him.” Drasin simply shrugged his massive shoulders. but Tennisk knew, ghoul’s claws were sharp enough to slash E’nati scales to glittering shards.

“Groaak will check the vitals signs now.” Said the Quarra, breaking the uncomfortable silence.



As Drasin and Tennisk walked to the lounge, Drasin asked. “So, what does Duklo want more slaves for?” Tennisk grimaced. Slavery was one of the things that did not quite sit well with him. But Duklo had said that he would feed him to a pack of zontars if he disappointed again. “I don’t know, guess what ever fetishes that weirdo is into now. I just hope they don’t make us take them directly into his ‘maintenance room’ again” Drasin nodded. “We may be scum, but that Macbriean is awful.” Tennisk nodded. Sitting down at his galactic web access board. “It’s a cruel place, this Vernid’s galaxy.” The E’nathi ‘grinned’ or at least moved his massive jaw a bit. “old terran saying?” Checking his latest messages the vernid nodded “yes.” Seeing a one marked ‘urgent’ he pulled it up. Seeing who it was from he immediately closed it and signed off. There were some things that Tennisk would not even tell his best friend. And personal matters were among them.

Drasin looked up from the duct in the corner of the room and dangled a toothhopper for everyone to see, when he shook it by the tail, It hissed and snarled. He contemplated the ship-vermin for a second then tore its head off in a single bite. “I like my meat fresh.” He mumbled apologetically around his mouthful while the headless pest spasmed and sprayed blood all over.

“that’s nice, so do I” said Tennisk detachedly, before coming to his senses. “So what do you think about the shaper invasion? “they’ll be at Deneb within a few months, I’ll tell you that.” Said Tennisk as a leg was torn off of the creature and handed to him.
“remember that scout ship we ran into?” asked the E’nathi, chomping down on the bloody mess. Tennisk made a face, or as much as he could. And shuddered. “yeah. I’ve seen some disgusting things in my time but…” Tennisk took a moment to begin flaying the leg with his mouthparts, and chewing the flensed flesh with his inner teeth. “no kidding…that was just WRONG, like the ship wasn’t meant to exist.” Agreed the saurian. “anyways, what do we have in that box there?” asked Drasin. “Aha, my friend! Relics from old earth.” The old earther relics fetched a lot on the market, and the Vernid hated losing arguments.

The ancestors of Tennisk, seven hundred years ago, had found earth when it was just begging its fall into decay. Discovery was another central facet to Vernids, they thrived on it. Their desert homeworld was one of the largest planets in existence, and much of it was unexplored in detail.
“Well.” Said Tennisk, “lets hit the void.”

mildly creepy, to think Terrence is going to be fighting alongside this guy... well lets just say I dont want to have any arguments amongst the party.

hmmm...how so?

Several reasons
A: Terrence came from a time when slaves wernt really the done thing and now hell be fighitng alongside a slave trader

B: Terrence is a family man and the thought of someone making profit for selling other "People" is slightly disturbing to him

C: Terrence comes from a time where Vernid dont exist to those people, and even though he has spent time in this timezone some of the galaxies inhabitants still repulse him.

D: All of these things together make for a worrying individual on Terrences part. However Im sure that if Tannisk shows that Terrence can trust him then theyll get along fine.

yeah. Since this is in space, it would be a lot easier to smuggle/slave/pirate al over the space lanes...my character and berzerkersteve's might get along just fine though (both scum)

and technically Tennisk as a slaver, not a slave trader. he buys them off of other people and sells them to Duklo (mcabrian jabba) when he is told (See. threatened)

wait! when was terrence frozen? we may have a canon conflict here. the vernids make first contact with humans in 2018

Dont worry about it Ineptus, My char Just missed the deadline, i made sure of that, and then a nice ive year buffer. I needed him to be humane.

Mhm instead he became the event, full military personell powerful physhque trained in a time when medical facilities couldnt save you from a peppering of shrapnel wounds. His mind and body tuned to combat. But also to his family. And after the last thing he remembers seeing them killed hes turned into a cold hard SOB

Meh, Im actually thinking of running Terence like a real merc, quite, powerful etc.

I was thinking we should create like legendary heros. Like NPCs were could talk to here and there. Like a captain who took down a shaper ship or soldier known for his valor or something

I think that borders on MMORPG style gameplay (we want it to be like a movie)

and yes. I think we should create backstories. I added both a bit of mystery and potential elaboration in mine. I will make more.
