That is pretty dope using a pen like that.

Love you are using the FW helmets instead of the maxmini ones.

I love your painting style, and some of the poses of the marines are really dynamic.

Cheers Para glad you like the face plate Zambro.

@Stormwall yeah man I've never been a fan of maximini - i'm not sure if its some head complex that I have or a deep seated mantra within me that I can only use canonical vanilla/ultramarine parts

@corpuschain thanks a lot man appreciate it

So decided rather late to add a captain and command squad to the list of things to paint this year at my hall - why? Becuase CAPTAINSNISNIATNICAPTATAINCATPCAOTASOITASTONASCAPTAISNATP

Went for a refreshingly unique take on them - a captain with the Primarch's wrath and a PG command squad. FNP and 2 rounds of UM doctrines rerolling 1s should keep the boys safe from themselves . Had a blast building these guys up - but the captain is the most complicated and difficult build i've maybe ever done. I had to cut the suzerian legs off from the body, keeping the groin plate and accessories on so that they could fit over the sternguard legs, which also had to be cut accordingly. I then cut the bolter and strap off from a tyrannic war veteran (so it has nice UM bling ), attached an open hand and and arm (which turned out to be much harder than you'd think), and added the trigger bit to resemble him holding his boltgun. Also used the plastic one-pose captain iron halo in behind his helmet, which is from the UM upgrade with the plume cut off (I wanted to keep it but it didn't work). The other arm is a sternguard one with a grey knight open hand on the end, signalling his squad to stop. Was a fun build, and will hopefully be a funner paintjob

His squad were more straightforward, but a blast all the same. Used the tassles from the suzerian legs on a vet and finally used a couple of the praetorian torsos from FW

You are really stepping up your conversion with these recent ones, both in terms of the thought that's going into the composition and the use of so many different parts to get just the right pose. Splendid stuff.

LDP, we’ve talked about your captain problem. Do you know there are plenty of other HQ options? That’s not even counting all the guys you could do for 30k. The rest of the command structure needs your talents as well!

Amazing looking squad. And should do well on the table. Might have been better on bikes. Do you have a bike captain? (I’m not helping my own cause here, am I?)

(goes back to painting another captain himself and thining about an unbound all captain list)

That faceplate is epic my friend. Looks very cool! Love your Command Squad WIP. I do think there is a place for plasma guns/apothecary in a foot command squad. Makes for a good alpha strike with some resiliency.

It must be a UM and UM successor issue.

I have too many sergeants that look more like Captains, and all my armies are ran by Captains.

It's long overdue, but the man himself deserved to be finished - and I did him a disservice by waiting this long.

Another restoration project, hammernator was about half done when I picked him up, painted in my old style which imo has not aged well, armour wasn't smooth with dry and messy wash, whites done lazily, just a bit messy all around - so I did A LOT of touch up and finished the guy after all this time. His heraldry from then still holds up surprisingly well, so I left that on there. For those of you unfamiliar with his antics, here is a summary that I quote from myself back in the day:

Spoiler:
He is worthy of the name, shrugging off a dreadknight's 3 incinerator overwatch burns as well as 3 greatsword atacks and finishing him off in close combat BY HIMSELF. If that's not enough, he came back to life, killed a purgation squad (With help) and bought time for my captain to escape the wrath of Draigo, stopping Knightley grabbing an extra VP. AND IF THATS NOT ENOUGH, this solo legend held off against draigo for 3 rounds of combat, and was still alive at the end of the game. So the least he deserved was a tasty bit of heraldry. The broken sword represents him killing the dreadknight and the 'VII' represents how many player turns he held Draigo off for. A bit of a boss if I do say so myself.
We lost the game, but I'm extremely pleased with Hammernators efforts.

I did his hammer blue instead of green - to pay homage to his old paintjob
Also framed up a new potential avatar photo but I think i'll stick with the current one.
I've thrown in an older photo of him in progress first.

Here he is, finally finished.

Nice. I love the integration of the broken sword heraldry to represent his past battles.

Cheers guys, yeah i'm surprised when I swept the dust off him that the freehand actually still held up ok.

Hello! Sorry for the little lack of presence - but i'm now fully set up and good to go at my hall of residence. I've been here since the 22nd and have this assault Sgt. to show for the past few days of work. My progress will slow this year - but I hope to continue bringing updates and a constant (however slow it is) feed of progress on the miniatures I have set out to complete.
I've included some pics of my new setup as well as as good an 'army shot' as I can get for Eggy

That Sarge is looking mean! Is he built from the new Assault Marine kit, or based on an older mini?

He has the gamesday 2006 captain's arms, hammer and shoulders, and Pedro Kantor's head. Apart from that its all the new assault marine kit

Do you have an assault squad? Looks like 4 tacs, a half dev squad, and then a whole mess of vets/command/HG/HQs. Stick of scouts hiding in the back.

The pic is nice, (seriously nice!) but do you have an unit list with or without points? Just curious...

@Neve this is the stuff not featured - the things that need to be worked on.

I could do a write up for you if you like, but basically aside from the limitless HQ miniatures, everybody has a unit and has some form of in-game coherency.

So you are about 2 tac squads, the 10 bolter huggers from the back of the dev squads, and another assault squad away from a full battle company? Plus a chaplain and a dread or two.

Don’t feel compelled to write stuff up, just wondering exactly what you have there on the shelf. Just the bean counter in the back of my head poking at me to tally stuff up. Same side of me who used to look at the set pieces in WD and figure out who was going to win.
