Nice work on that sanguinary guard Damo... You're really getting the NMM technique down (even if you are using metallics). The head on your sergeant is outstanding.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Afaik, the only way to have claws and chain fists would be to use typeros the red wake's rules (IA9 or 10). Even then, you'd have to use codex:sm.

As far as painting, I'd like to see some termis for sure. Maybe some tanks too.

By the Emperor!
Ok those Sanguinary Guard are seriously making me jealous of your skills as a painter, while reinforcing my want to actually build a Sanguinary Guard force.
Damn you.......

P.S. I demand a tutorial on how you did that gold.

Thanks guys! :-) I'm pretty happy with the Guard! and I'll do a tute for gold tomorrow! I just love how they turned out, I reckon it'll be Landspeeders next up for me ;-)

So, how best to arm a termie master guys? I've Googled and still confused as 6th edition makes it different!

quicker i can organise his arms then I can paint him up! ;-) maybe Gold and Red? thoughts?

Great work on those Sangiunary Guards, the gold is just epic! Love the worn down "gold plated" look, just makes them look so much more believable as real warroirs and not just "golden parade boys"

Looking forward to the toturial

In regards to how to arm the termie master, it depends on how you want to use him and the load out of the unit he will accompany into battle.

The other option is to magnetise the arms so you can swap them around until you find the load out you prefer.

Hey guys, cheers as always, Graven the body is the FW Lufgt Huron model and i'm going to hack it up for a Nerd spin on it ;-)

as far as arming him goes, I would like him to accompany some termies into battle, either sort I have cc and tac ones, would he be able to hang with each sort od squad reliably? I know cc makes sense but could the tac ones shoot their way through until he gets into range? I only cracked my brand new rule book this morning after my b'day yesterday! :-) so is there anything 6th should fill me in on before i go ahead and glue stuff together?

and I'll be working on a gold tute today, i'll try and get it done but definitely within the next day or two!

Howz about we just paaaaartyyyyyyyy! ? :-)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I have had a few requests about how I painted the armour of my Sanguinary guard models so I thought i'd paint some up to show you how i do it, I chose the Terminator armoured chapter master/captain as I could paint the main body and when I work out how best to arm him I plan on giving him red arms to tie him in with his loyal troops! any more advice on arming him is welcome too

well, firstly I tidied the model up as it was a little rough in places but overall not too bad, then I undercoated it with the Army Painter coloured Primer Leather brown. as shown here with a nice smooth coating:

A quick wash with that beautifully easy to use Agrax Earthshade shade:

o.k, now we start the gold, mix 50/50 Burnished Gold & Snakebite Leather paint (old range) add a little water and overbrush the entire model with it, this will give you a really dark gold base:

Wash this layer with Agrax Earthshade to re confirm the shading and details:

then layer on pure Burnished Gold over the armour plates, leaving the previous layer in the deeper parts etc.:

to start highlighting, mix Burnished Gold with a tiny brush tip of Mithril Silver paint, I can't give exact measure here as the Mithril really overpowers the gold easily but if you mix on the same part of your palette as the gold you will see the original colour on the edge of your mix thus enabling you to see the progression of the colour, you want it just slightly more silver at this stage:

now add slightly more Mithril silver again to the mix on your palette and highlight the edges and top parts of the models armour:

Finally with a fine brush and pure Mithril Silver highlight the final highlights where you have before been highlighting the edges and it should look something like this:

i hope that was clear enough to follow? any questions or more pics just ask me lets hope it works for you guys!

Cheers

Damo

Hrrmmm, I sent that off in June, I believe. I'll see if I can find the receipt with the tracking number when I get home, but even if it got tangled up, you should have received it by now. The ruinous powers may have plucked it up to stop your forces from growing. That would suck. I'll let you know what I find out. Until then, Nerd on.

Hi guys, I had a day home today not feeling 100% but had a bit of a paint I laid down the first coat of red on my 3 speeders after a wash of Agrax and started working on the Chaos Lord for my mate 50shadesofgiggity!

basic boring ol shot of speeders

here's the Lord, worked the armour and gave it a wash to start with, it is basically the same recipe as my FE's but I washed first with Black to make the red a darker shade than my marines.

Now for the cool bits I watched a movie yesterday which inspired me when painting the skulls on his armour..... yeah you can kinda tell I watched ghost Rider 2 I'm stoked with the result I think it turned out nicely!

Comments and general chit chat welcome!

Love the way the skulls emerge from the armor, both in fact and with the use of color.

Thanks guys, i think I nailed the burning effect on them pretty well, and I wanted to something a bit different than the normal bone skulls I do, since it's for a mate i didn't have to restrict myself to my own painting scheme! he's hoping to start a Chaos force of the Apostles of Minthros, who are dark red with nearly black metal banding and symbols, I'll do this guy up for him and then sit down and teach him a basic method or two to get him up and running with his own blog :-)

today I will try and finish him and the main hulls of my speeders! so look out for me later today! or tonight... wherever you live....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Did some more to 50shadesofgiggity's Lord he's about 80% done now, I think he looks o.k, I tried to keep the majority of him fairly basic with a few decent touches, I'm pretty pleased with the skulls and his face, although he does need some touching up when all is done i plan on having the binding on his axe/deamon weapon as bloody bandages and I need to finish the dirty Imperial fist helmet etc..

he almost glows coming from the darkness!

Also got my arms for my Dreadnought I'm arming with twin linked Autocannons! the arms are bloody crisp and well made! I love how they look on him!

thanks guys catch ya's soon eh!

Man, that Chaos Lord looks pretty nice, those skulls make the model for sure. Not to mention, as always, the speeders are off to a great start.

And youll love Riflemen Dreds, they just piss out bullets. My oldest brother (not the Giant) has some, and those things seem to KO my Ork leaders like champs and they usually do a number on vehicles or smaller squads like when I run my biker boss with his Kopta crew.

Cheers KC! I'm actually looking forward to using the Rifleman dread (that's the name right?) I was going to have an Ironclad but realised that BA don't have them :-( so I wanted to find something different and these guys sound awesomely fun!

Yea, they are one of those units that "just work" pretty much regardless of what your facing. Ironclads are badass but sadly like you said, you cant use them. That game I told you about where I actually tabled the guy, his IronClad was the only unit I couldnt pop
