why are there no sponsons on the hellhammer but not extra armor either?

I only had one kit and there is not the option to have extra armour in the basic Baneblade kit, but I didn't want sponsons either.

why not get baneblade accessories? Its a bit steep at 15 pounds but anything you dont use makes good basing!

Good idea, but at the time after buying a £60 box I was skint.

My dread painted using vallejo reds and gw for everything else. I mixed some brown and gloss varnish for oil on the metals

hmm, I take it dreadnoughts are dull, oh well onto the guard
new guard codex has gotten rid of remnants so I have painted the three and am in the process of painting another plasma gunner to get my remnants up to full strength

On another note the local club painting guru told me to glaze my layered commander with bestial brown,
and I couldn't be more pleased with the result! I think the glaze ties all the colours and that is after just four layers
I decided not to apply any more layers as it would darken the model too much, but I have added glazing to my repertoire of easy but effective techniques

painting is good, the lowlight and highlighting on the commander's cloak is nicely done, dunno if anyone else noticed this however, those weapons look oversized, like, for the model itself, they just look too big and clunky

Just a man, standing in front of a paint pot, trying to remeber if I rinsed boltgun metal in it.

@Edward089 Thanks for the compliment on the layering
The weapons are from regular guard, but the body is the baneblade/hellhammer tank commander, a more realistically scaled model than some others of gw.
The arms are out scaled (if the "if your hand is bigger than your face" thing were true then he would need chemo)
but it is less noticeable in person, and ties him into the command squad

Hmm from the front the plasma gunner looks like he's trying to hide behind his plasma gun and his eyes look scared, and mismatched, just but it looks cool (funny)now he just needs a third eye and some extra limbs like th rest of them do(/funny)

I am about to go on holiday for 2 weeks so I shall post up my unfinished work, I won't be doing any painting on my holiday but I will be visiting warhammer world to gawp at the citadel miniatures hall.
First the scouts that I salvaged from the land speeder storm kit, with some clever use of terrain, nobody is any the wiser. and a scout with a pig iron productions head

Next the vostroyan commander I have been, and will continue to work on.

Just got back, abit early actually, despite woeful traffic.
@deadly chicken: It's the only pose that the legs allow, apart from russian dancing, however I have no crossed arms to put on so I went for ducked down sprinting.
@infilTRAITOR: Thanks, that's what I intended and I am glad it worked, I fiddled about with the position of the autocannon a bit to emphasise the direction of movement.

@ShadowAngel159: Bring my ideas back ya hooligan! They came outta my thinker so they're mine. Actually I got the idea for objectives from bell of lost souls, but the guy on there used mordian casualties so his force is much cooler, although I could use the space marine casualties for my marines, hmm....

Anyways I have spent much of the past four days retouching the silver and red marines, tidying up overspill and washing the shoulders, but I also finished another squad, bringing them up to 750 pts. I used some dark angels bits on this squad, I also intend to get black templars bits, but with chapterhouse studios putting out so much great stuff, new space wolves coming out, the space hulk termies being so beautiful, my desparation for headphones that fit me becoming profound and having just found a place that sells chromed flying goggles, I don't know where my money should go!

Well, on to the models I suppose

Right, finished moving most of my gear around and have a new workspace, now with natural light
Here are some piccies

I bought some prepainted an pre assembled marines, which I now have to strip. That's on top of all the others and the one I found under a wardrobe.
Here's all of them:

I bought a kit of Space wolves on holiday, but left it with my relatives , it arrived in the post yesterday so I have assembled 5 and now have several squads ready for painting:

Also more progress on the vostroyan commander:

Do you mean the guy I gave a sneak peek of?
I tried wet blending on him and failed, so I lost interest for a while, now that I've fineshed the vostroyand and the scouts however I may pick him up again.

oh, only did the bolter guys, more scouts soon, just going to do some work on other projects first.
As for the vostroyan, I can always substitute him for my other commander.

sneak peek guy, really just posting this for advice on how to 'fix' it paint wise.
The brown and grey are my biggest worries, but also what colour to paint the guard officer.

Here you can see my failed, feeble attempt at nmm
