Evening all! I've just spent 10 hours non-stop working on the Predator, and my back is in complete agony!
I have nearly finished the Predator, it just needs some more touch-ups before it is complete. In the mean time, I'm going to sleep...

Ahah cheers GDO! One thing i am concerned with is that the Purity Seal is messing up the weathering. The powders are meant to look like dust but the moment you apply the spray the stuff turns to paste before 'freezing'.

Just a heads up for you guys, after a disaster with a DA model i had spent some time on, i have decided to veer off slightly and take a look at those Elysians which were gathering dust. Here is a photo of the initial 5, before i apply primer. There are issues with warped gun barrels, so i will try and sort it out with GS beforehand.

Hey guys, I'm still working on those Elysians, but after finding out theres a painting competition this Saturday at the local GW (themed heroes and characters), i thought now would be the time to start work on the Chaplain! Work started off bad, after a blobbled primer job. after giving it a scrub with some Dettol i tried again, with better results. Heres a quick snap of the started work.

On another topic, does anyone know a computer programme which could create a 'planet' image, or would it just have to be a photoshop job?

Thanks GDO, after some thinking I realised that the competition may only be for named characters (nooo! ) I will have to ring up tomorrow!
Anyway here are some photos I just took of the Chaplain, some details and weathering still needs to be picked out, as well as making a base (might make it 60mm) but I'm currently happy with how it's gone!


1.) The 'Black' of the armour was produced by airbrushing Chaos Black with a small amount of Regal Blue. After the wash and weathering process watered down Shadow Grey was used to highlight edges and raised areas.

2.) The eyes were painted after the weathering. A basecoat of Scab Red was followed by thin coats of lighter colours at the forward edges of the lense. (Red Gore; Blood Red; Blood Red/ Blazing Orange; Blood Red/ Blazing Orange/ Skull White.)
A small white spot was then painted at the rear of the lens.

3.) The Dark Angels icon was freehanded onto the shoulder guard using Skull White. Luftwaffe Green was sponged on represent white paint flaking off, and afterwards Charadon Granite was sponged on to show paint chips down to the armour's base colour.


4.) The dust/mud effect was used by mixing Forge World's Grey Ash and Light Earth weathering powders with a small amount of Desert Yellow paint. Acrylic Thinner was used to turn the mixture into a wash, which was then applied in small amounts on parts of the armour.

Well brother it looks great so far from what I can pick up, but the picture is a bit dark to see the details and it does not help the figure is black . Maybe place him in some natural lighting to see the great details?
Other then that your attention to details has always been great!

Gah! Never realised how poor the quality was! i'll see if i have time to get a photo for tomorrow before the sun goes down (not that there is not much sun over here ).

I'm trying to get that glaze highlight sheen-amabob going, but it is very difficult in getting the right proportion of paint-to-water, and this is the first time i am dealing with that pesky gold!

Hey all! Long time no see
I've been pretty busy since last time I cam here, but I've finally made some progress!
Here's my -almost- complete Elysian test model. I have 4 more which have been basecoated, and are ready for some painting!
I'm not too pleased about the pouches, i might change the colour for the other guys.
Note the missing shoulder pad. It had a skull motif but was heavily blocked up with undercoat paint, so i decided to remove it at the last moment.

This thread is dead now. (well I hope so anyway.)
