Just logged onto dakka to find more updates. Keep building the Tac marines you'll get them all done (eventually), the GS cloth looks a bit crowded, maybe it's just the angle of the camera, or because it isn't painted yet. Well I'm looking forward to seeing more and best of luck mate

dw besring im gonna drill it, cut it, chip it and rip it so its all tattered (but still blocks the view of the GS joining the arm to the torso)

another daily update from me. i decided to try painting the coils on a plasma gun (forgot about the mould line though ), and did another tactical marine. i did a grave miscaculation and realise i actually have 9 more tactical marines to make! . i also have posted an image of my WIP attempt at doing some new robe work on a veteran which was a few months ago.

The plasma coils look fantastic, very nicely done.

heehee it was like a 5 minute job! heres what i did:
regal blue
ultramarine blue
ice blue (i got this paint with all the models and i love it so much!)

thinned regal blue wash all over
ice blue highlight
iceblue/skullwhite extreme highlight
skull white super-duper-high-light

the paint on the outside was actually just from the drybrushing, but i realised it looks like glowing so wahey!

Not sure if you're interested but it would be great to have a few more UK painters for this if you're up for it.

sounds pretty cool. i think i do have enough spare bodies left to make a guy, like a tactical marine, then swap it for another tac marine. so inter-chapter exchange programme

On topic, are you going to leave your plasma gun with black casing? I think it would be a shame to waste that effect by painting over it imho.

yeah, i thought that as well, and ive decided im going to keep it black, with the red diagonal stripe going through which i see some DA people use. i will do it for all the models then. regarding all gunmetal, i think i will attempt to add realism by keeping all metal areas something like 75%chaos black and 25% boltgun metal, with a bit of chainmail added for highlight. you dont see gun barrels in our day a complete shiny silver do you?

Very true although I use two or three coats of wash to dull done the shine. If you wanted to highlight you could maybe use a codex grey on the metals too.

As for the red diagonal just make sure it goes the right way. I've seen a few armies through the years with it backwards.

yeah mate, ive read the article before. it has excellent work on there. i especially like the company master, but i think i lack the mental capacity to do anything on that scale

any way onto work wise, i wasnt able to do much last night besides do a bit more painting on my company 2ic. i did the plasma coils on his pistol (think i over did it this time), devlan mud-ed his robes and trim, and painted the skull on his backpack. robes will need more drybrushing and drybrush-highlighting. today i am very busy doing school work for tomorrow so the only time i can garruntee an update is wednesday. so see you then guys!

oh, hewo! well, since starting my final year of high school, i have, used up all my free time with homework and revision amongst other things (including playing Men of War and Battlestations Pacific for hours on end =D), hence the absence from posting on dakka. well I'm back now. I cannot guarantee for how much longer though. i tried building a second biker in my spare time but i never liked it, it just didn't appeal to me. so I've gone back to the good ol' tac marines. last night i made another marine, and washed over the plasma pistol on the sergeant along with painting the green, although i won't do any more work on him as I'm trying to avoid painting until all the models are assembled, though sometimes i just can't resist =D I'll be assembling a few more marines by the end of the day and might have time to post them tonight, if not then Tuesday. well see you then guys

now what did i say? another update on the same day huzzah! i decided to build two assault marines. one is charging about to strike, while the other guy is just running. the other guy was meant to be kneeling but it doesn't look right if an assault marine is kneeling... he's meant to be charging and hacking and killing and spraying blood everywhere.... yeah!...

ok back on topic, if i had the skill i would try and make crouching legs to make it look like he just landed or his about to leap, but i can't so meh.
but i can tell you what i have planned for the rest of the AMs, on one, i will use a ravenwing sergeant pair of legs, and fiddle it around with some GS to make, wait for it wait for it... a robed AM landing with both feet .
ok ok not that amazing is it...
another plan is to possibly make a guy who has just landed have both arms up, one arm holding a flamer while in the other have a bolt pistol. sounds good don't it?

another quick update, made this dude last night. he's going to be the centerpiece for the squad. he'll have a standard base, but will have a slab or something stuck on top to widen it a bit. the plan is the have a fallen chaos marine, who has just been in combat with this dude. the CSM will have gouges cut into it with lotsa lotsa blood and gore everywhere, including on my marine, to show they have just been in a duel. the plasma pistol on my dude is to be aiming where the CSM's head is. first thing's first is i need to get a single CSM dude from somewhere.

You are one lucky guy to get a nice shipment like that. Typically I have to get my armies buying 1 kit at a time. I look fowrd to seeing more of your work once it has been painted!

Element206, i asked my dad to take out all that was in my savers account, which was just under £200, but when he said its best to keep the money in, i asked for loan, and it amounts to around £300, if you include the FW model masterclass book and modelling powders he STILL hasn't bought yet =D, minus the CoD imperial sector aswell, since it went out of stock by the time he got round to getting me the stuff. yeah, painting is going to be a b*&$h, i might even dettol-wash some of the new models i already painted if i pick up a new painting technique

penultimate AM assembled. the face i painted separate on the sprue when i was extremely bored, but i did too many devlan mud washes and the face is blocked up a bit , but no worries, dettol will take it off!

Final assault marine completed. in comparison my older assault marines are less posey, so i will make some changes... with a stanley knife i'll also give one of them a flamer, as SM assault marines get flamers, but DA don't

hell no! the whole idea is stupid *bloody blood angels and their hallucinogenic ideas!* and it would probabely cost like £50, i'd rather spend that money on a battleforce or something

I'll get one but get my friend Bryan Steele to add bits to it to make it look better.

I suggest you spend £3 of that £50 on some dettol and bring the last marines back from the brink, lol.

Good to see progress on the force.

i'm nearly done on the ravenwing sergeant, plus two marines. the ammo bearer is going to be part of the devastator squad. while the other will have a larger box magazine attached to his bolter. also practiced doing power weapons on the assault squad sergeant. ofcourse dettol will remove it. its just a test. i tried a stark contrast on the external side of the axe, with a more blendy side on the side closer to the torso.
