Ok, so I finished painting the first batch of terrain, I used about a third of the imperial sector box mixed with from board, it stretches really far. I will make probably another 3 large buildings which will be focal points and good objectives, the rest will be scatter terrain, barricades, walkways and the like. Let me know what you think. Cheers.

Sorry for the picture spam, but, well you know, terrain! Moar terrain!

Looking good, the posters and painting add a really authentic feel!

Cheers para, it was really easy to make and the painting was just a blast, no finesse, just splashing colour and washes here and there!

So after a brief hiatus and house move, I finally finished czevak. I'm glad I sat down to do some painting the other night as I am really pleased with the result, it took me a while to find the right bits (and a little gs) but I got theren. As far as the paint job goes, not daemon winning standard but I hope it captures the character at least. Let me know what you think.

Nice work all round from con ting to paint job, love the coat very embellished and extravagant.
Plus the jewels look pretty symmetrical which must have been a feat in its self

I got back into the swing of painting again this week. After picking up betrayal at calth I felt the urge to finally paint my Kabuki Celestial Knight, The Emperor of Mankind! I'm happy at how he turned out, my first attempt at nmm on the cloak proved quite successful, I'll definatley be doing more. When I get round to my calth box, Alpha Legion are on the cards. I thought about doing Dark Angels, seeing as this blog originally started with my back in black deathwing, but the enigmatic allure of the hydra swayed me. Look out for those soon.

Superb! I'd never have guessed that was NMM if you hadn't said, so mission accomplished!

Just to clarify, the nmm is the cloak only, the armour is painted with metallics, I've updated the post lol. Sorry for the confusion!

Nice work on big E. How big is the model compared to a SM? Or even a FW Primarch model?

Ask and ye shall receive! It's a rushed shot so forgive the poor lighting. Scale between an ogryn and terminator. Hope that helps.

I love that Emperor model! The cloak is definitely the best part of your paint job. The only complaint I have, and it has nothing to do with your work, is that the miniature's head looks pretty small for the size of the body. I guess a lot of the Kabuki not-Primarch models have that problem though.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Thanks Zerg, I know what you mean about the head, I can live with it until FW get round to making him though!

Hail Hydra!

I have started my Alpha Legion in Ernest. I don't have an airbrush so I tried to come up with something that would work with washes and brush. I'm quite pleased with the result, a nice blue/green. Very WIP atm but they are on the way and I think this method will be a quick and dirty one. the new Leadbelcher spray from GW is just the ticket, nice smooth basecoat in one pass, brilliant!

Thanks guys, I picked up the transfer sheet from FW as well so when they are complete I don't have to spend hours trying to do fiddly hydra iconography. Plus, transfers are cheaper than £40 a squad upgrade sets!

The test squad for my Alpha Legion is complete minus transfers. A very quick paint scheme thanks to the GW basecoat spray. I'm happy at how they look. I'm going to try and assemble everything this week with a view to doing some batch painting, I think I can get the box set done quickly. Can't wait to get the transfers on them though, I think they will really come up then.

Gotta tell you, I love the way their armour colour came out. Superb job.

I do have a teeny bit of critique if you don't mind. They look soooo good that the bases seem to stand out as being very plain. That may just be personal preference and I know many may disagree, but thought it was worth mentioning. The important thing though is that the marines are stunning, well done

Thanks TP, the armour is actually the easiest part. Just various glazes of blue and green. I hear what you are saying about the bases, they are intentionally sparse. I want to save the more elaborate bases for the characters to help them stand out, plus, i think sometimes a whole lot of busy bases can detract from a large army. I think it just comes down to preference in the end.
