and i too have used lots of militia parts for my own purposes...some of them you will see shortly...as i will show you my riveteers...yep! time to make a slpash with these^^

thought that this was the blunderbus arms... but did you change the barrel or the whole weapon?

Now guys, there is something that I would like to ask you that and I hope you dont mind. As you can tell by my painting, im not THAT good, im not the worst, but not to a level I am happy at. So heres where I ask, if you ever bump into a nice webpage or tutorial that can help me increase my skill I would be highly apreatiative thank you Dakka!

have you scurred the tutorials here on dakka? or did you ever look at youtube... there is that lady...she makes exellent vids on how to do next to everything paintwise and such things...

here is just an example of her maaaaaaaannnyyy vids she constantly puts out...she is quite good... i only saw some of here tuts on vid but i think she breaks up the painting to follow by quite well...

of course the lady would have to be german!! Thanks though vik, she is quite good, im going to have to take alook at more of her videos

didn´t choose her for her homecountry... she makes painting look really simple...and she has lots of tuts out there about nearly everything... she caters for any needs... and i only ever stumbled here on dakka over her vids anyway^^

Now should be getting camera back in about 4 hours, so HOPEFULY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pics then. But untill then I shall tell you my year plan atm.... Im going to try to get some nice brushes (showed by CMDante, who happens to be my miniature painting hero) and I've decided to try to drop my GW paints for Vallejo as well, so THATS when the serious paint begins. I will make a small (usuable) WHFB army and then that is when I will start on my dream army (IG!!!!) if all goes well I need to follow in Vik footsteps and gain myself a job while I am training for Movie creation and such.. mainly because I need the $ for minis since I dont want to spend the rest of my $ on minis. And im sure I never said this but it goes without saying, I cant type well so if this has bad grammer and gives you a headache while reading, then I say I am sorry.. but do come back now

Kolinsky Sable are the BEST EVAR! I have a W&N Series 7 10/0 that is the best thing I have ever bought, next to my brass clamps

I can give you the abreviated version of the fluff, as i need to find my notebook to get it all to you.. basicly they are the United Mercenary Colonist Army (UMCS) Obviously its a mercenary colony based in a planetary system (more indepth in my notes) and my force specificly is the elites of the mercs. lead by the 2nd in command of the capital planet (again it is more indepth) they are technicaly part of the IG but for the most part they are seperate, the whole syestem is interesting, there was a secret =][= dealings that ended in blown up planet..... blah blah blah (in notes) and there is even a cool rouge trader style ship going around the system (maybie it has to do with the =][=?) now this is getting to be quite a long comment of mine...

first:
the fluff sounds even so roughly sketched quite interresting and if you base models on that fluff i expect them to be simply awsome... mercs do only cool anyway^^

as for the kollinsky brushes... i only ever heard that they are top notch... in the fullness of time i think i will get some too...but... have you seen the pricetag for the 10 size brush? insane... if you hunted down a marten and skined it yourself you could make some major bucks^^

also at dave... do you recon that the 10/0 size brush is enough for details? i am always between chairs when it comes to either capacity of paint in the bristles and the size of the point... what is for you the most important virtue of a brush?

then...
the sketch is looking really good rogue... flipping would have been nice... as my neck is not that sporty anymore^^...the sketch is really quite close to the mini you showed...tho i think your posing looks even better and more dynamic... except the hanging arm on the left side of the pic... that looks like it could need a bit of a tweek...

your minis look cool, still some headless mates there^^ the commander and the "crowe" charcter looking in my opinion the best in that bunch...which has to be taken with a grain of doubt, as i have to really tell you youmake quite gakky pics^^ *cringes* no seriously... you should see if your cam has a timer option... and maybe you could steady the cam on a book or possibly a tripod? and better lighting situation is called for too... the warm light of that bulb is killing most of the color effects you probably spent ages on... and... i think you will get better and dynamic looking pics of your minis when you make shots with the minis standing upright instead of laying them down... i know many naggings of me here, but i only do it for...my best^^ as i wanna see your stuff as it deserves it^^ ...at it´s best

and again to your fluff... heck yeah... pllease do make up some more... that was quite a teaser... now you have to serve^^

A brush is only as good as it's point. The point is what paints, the rest of the brush only holds paint as a resivior. Kolinsky sable is so expensive because of what it comes from, (unless you are drybrushing, but you'd be a fool to drybrush with your Kolinsky Sable brush) I don't remember exactly, but it is tail hair from some rare Yak or something in Siberia, chosen for it's good point-keeping properties. i paid $20 for my 10/0 quite a few years ago. I take extra special care of it (keeping it clean) and it has held it's point longer than any other brush I have ever had.

Thanks neil as it is always an honor to have you here, and Vik im waay ahead of you, but i cannot set up the lighting situation untill i get the proper desk, and i do applogise for that but light box will happen asap!

Thanks! Guys i just got back from GW played some nice practice games, league play starts in 2 weeks, and im going to try to convince them to do a munda campagin (secretly =][=munda !!) when this is all done. Should be getting empire battlation within the week

lightbox coming up in the future sounds good... talked to a friend yesterday and she suggested to build one with that seethrough paper you wrap your bread in... when you go to work or school...dunno how it is called in english...this could break up the spereate lightsources and thus create the smooth needed light...
