Was teaching my girlfriend how to play, not much of a list really only a few units each and no terrain. Anyway she managed to table me by turn 3. Despite the fact that we both had exactly the same units, I had nothing and i don't think she lost a model. Dice Gods hated me that day.

When I was teaching my son, I considered going without terrain, but we were playing on my coffee table and that would have simply ended in us shooting at each other unhindered.

The more awkward part came on the day of the tournament, when i got a spot in the tournament because of some last minute cancellation. We were talking with my friend when the TO was pulling pairs out from a hat and my friend was confident he would do well in the tournament. It was a 30 player event so facing my daemons was not high, but when the TO pulled our numbers from the hat my friend lost it. He was furious and i felt bad as i knew he had no chance to win. The game was a sorry affair as my friend threw down the towel after my first turn as i had had a dream start and literally decimated over half of his army in turn 1. I went to win the whole tournament with my list, but my friend ended up i the bottom 5 and threw all three of his matches as he could not be bothered to play well in his sour mood. I felt bad and would have hiped he could have gotten some better matchups in the tournament.

I feel a little bad for your friend of getting stuck facing your daemons again, but did he do anything different with his force after that game where he lost in 4 turns? A 4 turn loss is hardly to be embarrassed by. It is 80% of the game, so if a winner is decided by then so what? Have no sympathy for the guy blowing off his other games because he lost to you. Poor sportsmanship is poor sportsmanship. Yeah it sucks to be hurt so badly in one turn, but if you can't take the pain then you shouldn't be playing with the big boys in a tournement in the first place. That is just the way tournement games can go sometimes. It is awesome when it happens to benefit *you*, but if it happens on the other side of the table you instead were cheated out of having a chance in the game...

The first game was my win clearly before turn 4, but we decided to play as long as we could to see if his list could recover at all. In the second game i played my first turn and my friend didn't even bother to play his first before giving up the game. That sucked for the both of us as we had paid good money to play some games and now we had set up, played one half of a turn and had to wait almost three hours for the next round to start. It was a bit awkward for the both of us as we are still friends and i tried to coach him to have a bit better understanding of deployment and basic tactics that he seems to lack some skills in. Even so, he had clearly given up even before we started playing the tournament matchup. I could feel it in his mood when he deployed his units as it was almost like watching cattle be prodded to the slaughterhouse.

ok i see.alot of gf/so stories so ill.share mine.
I've been playing this one guy in our local group for the last 14 years, we met when i was 16 and im 30 now. he has always played eldar, and i chaos marines or demons. in this time he has beat me once, just once, we all made a big deal and laughed at my expence, even made and hung a notice to.all that came in the store of.his victory!!

but during our gaming history it hasnt gone very well for him... he has rage quit more times than any of us can remember, i feel bad for him and try to help but refuse to let him win.

fast forward to last summer.... I've started teaching my wife how to play a pure deathwing list, easy brutal forgiving...it's just th/ss terms with cyclones, thats all.

so her and said guy are talking about playing, and her learning experinces with me at home, he then challenges her to a 2k game... sheer terror shoots through me and the store owner and i just look at each other... this guy will commit.suicide if he loses!!! i tell me.wife "do not win!!!" she completely understands and is all laughs about it.
they set up, and go to roll first turn, he "lets" her have it because shes a girl, big mistake. she unleashes hell gladiator.style, detroying a fire prism and several wave serpents and warwalkers. he is still confiedent and moves his jet council up to assualt belial and the supersquad that dw assualted close to his lines. after a thorough beating in cc, the jetcouncil flees and runs off the table... turn two the game is over, he packs up all his stuff, rages out of the store, then posts on ourgaming groups facebook page that he's selling his army, rofl.

we still laugh about this to this day. good news he didnt quit, but still comedy gold.

Not so much a game per se but every time I take my girlfriend with me to the hobby store/GW (which lately is like all the time) it is awkward. I one time watched a GW employee attempt to converse with me while talking to my GFs chest haha.

When I had first started playing way back in the day (but not too far). I joined a tournament with my buddy to play my brand new just came out Tau army. First 3 opponents (this was a teams tournament) were a lot older then us, in the 30s area and I was about 16. Well with out going too much into it they were condescending and extremely rude to us. An to top it off the creamed us. Turns out they were cheating and got kicked out. The 3rd and final game we were winning and our opponents decided to just wander off and go watch other games. Popping in just long enough to roll dice and then disappear again. Needless to say I have never played another tournament again.
