For the Knight fight battles... tall LOS blocking buildings are best. I can bring the collection of FLGS stuff I built for them if needed, Though I rather not as they take up more space. They'll at least accommodate a dread between floors. They however are basic looking. but match the table

Theses are just some of them...

I'll bring the 4x8 table that folds in half in case we cannot find something to use Saturday night.

Solar, i will be bringing the buildings you made for me. We should be okay in the LOS department.

Keep in mind I'm bringing some of these.... I'm shooting for around 10 total, which should give us some tall 5+ or perhaps even LOS blocking from the big evergreens. I don't know if we're doing winter terrain for the knight fight as well as for our pick-up board... but these are additional options.

Great.. I'll probably bring just a few then in case. I'll also take a stab at wintering up my board. Right now they match all my existing terrain ( the above mentioned buildings )

You don't have to do that SL... I'm just bringing the winter stuff to go along with my matt and the terrain Ice is bringing so we all at least have one good board to play pickup battles on.

Master Azalle has decided to come to Adepticon and has asked about joining the ‘ Knight Fight’. This puts us close to maxing out ( due to playing cards ) the number of participants. If Everyone shows it will be 6 vs 7 unless we can find another willing player. Speak up if you have someone in mind. That Said we’ll be fighting this battle on the 4X8 table.

More Logistics to follow….. Remember that you get 500 pts and any pts not used to purchase your knight can be used to purchase an additional imperial unit. I've added some additional rules to the first page OP.

Are additional units 30k or 40k specific?

Can I bring a fortification with my extra points?

Well, I figure I'm not going to get much in the way of support for 100 pts... but a VSG might keep me alive long enough to get a chance to go do something fun.

And could provide some protection to your fellow teammates. I'm ok with that. Interesting Strategy.

Sure. Now if you don't want people piling up in there... put occupancy restrictions on it. Say, only one or two knights may use the VSG at any one time. That way you won't have a whole team just hiding in their bubble while the other team gets pounded... but you could protect one or two knights from incoming fire, either at the very beginning of the game, or late when they're getting shot up and need repairs (it would work best of someone took a techmarine & some servitors as their support).

I don't think that is an issue. with all the pie plate shooting I'm not sure you want to be that packed together. Multiple hits from a single shooter will drain HP quick. Especially when the shield goes down.

Interesting tactic.. I'll need the re-read the VSG rule involving coverage.

VSGs are pretty simple:

50 pts gives you 1 shield, 25 for each thereafter up to 3 total. So full 3 shields = 100 points.

Shields extend 12" beyond the VSG and completely block all ranged attacks. Effectively think of it as a giant, AV 12 vehicle with 1 hull point per shield. You pick a target inside the VSG and shoot at it. Your shots are intercepted by the shield unit you glance or pen the shields AV12 enough to knock them all down, once the shields are down, the rest of your shots continue on to whatever you'd targeted in the first place.

For example. if an assault cannon were to shoot at a VSG with only one shield up, first you would pick the target within the shield... say, a unit of kataphron destroyers with grav cannons. You shoot four shots at the unit, you roll to hit as normal. Misses... miss... they don't do anything to the unit or shield. Say you roll three hits... first they get allocated to the shields. First shot rolls a 3 for armor pen... so it bounces off the shield. Second shot rolls a six... which with an assault cannon (because of rending) would penetrate AV 12 & brings down the shield. Even if it only glanced, it would still bring down the shield. The third hit... which now does not have to worry about any shields... goes on to hit the kataphron destroyers as normal. Roll to wound, etc.

I want to reiterate that "penetrating" and "glancing" a void shield does exactly the same thing... brings down 1 shield. There are no effects beyond this for penetrating shots.

The shields have no effect on anything once you're inside of them, it's only shooting from outside that they block.

Like on a titan, VSG shields replenish on a 5+, roll once per shield at the beginning of the player's turn.

@Master Azalle: I was just going to PM you and suggest you make yourself known. Got your package by-the-way. Thank you!

My question would be about coverage. How much within the 12" doe it count to be protected. Since this models were looking at are big and how to justify a partially covered figured.

Might be safe to just say 'must be fully in to count.'

I'll do some research

Looking forward to meeting you, too, Azalle!

I'm bringing a bare bones Tech-priest Auxillia unit (from the 30k Admech book) with my spare 65 points... hopefully they'll get a repair in before something obliterates them

You guys with your expensive knights are doing it wrong. I've got 130 points to play with.

Well, my Cerastus Lancer is designed as a knight-killer... but it rarely sees another knight and if it does... it's an Eldar one that goes first and kills it outright before it gets to swing. There just may be enough targets in this battle that I'll actually get to see if the Lancer can do what it's designed to do.

If I had thought of it sooner I would have converted it up. Admech is a godsend for imperial conversions. Maybe next year. Only other acceptable way would be have a looted knight.

Interesting choices.

Imperial, Imperial Imperial,, though I might just allow the Ork one cause it would be funny. Though I might want to include a ' push that button' rule on it.

What makes the lancer a Knight Killer you ask?....Well it's lance adds 1 to the initiative and if it runs its 3D6. Fast and first.

Well potentially you will have 7 targets to test your metal. I suggest you all practice your smack talk to enhance your chances of total dominance.

Also it's shield works in assault... giving it a slightly better chance to survive an engagement with another knight. It also has some negative effect on other SH walkers/gargantuan creatures in assault. -1 WS maybe... can't remember.

Don't forget.. Atropos built in. Blessed Autosimulacra: If a vehicle has suffered Hull Point damage at the end of the controlling player’s turn, roll a D6. On a 6, one lost Hull Point is restored.

I would like to make sure the additional unit remains in the Imperial group. It should be a support unit. ie.. no HQ's or named character. The intent is "Knight Fight" first.

Added to the first page.. Though if you showed up with a looted knight I'd most certainly let you play it.
