Howiya lads, lurked on this for a while and gotta say there's some great objective markers here, a lot of inspiration. So I played my first objective based game the other day and we didn't have proper markers so it finally gave me the buzz to go make an idea I had for the 4 chaos gods markers, very similar to your own ones u971 which inspired me as well, but I wanted to go a bit further with each.

So first one, here she is:

This thread is an inspiration super highway!
those Battletech objectives here and originally a lot of my inspiration for these came from the Battletech forums

Are those electrical components? Diodes and such? Looking good whatever they are.

@theCrowe,Yep there Capacitors & Diodes, seems they make good ammo cans, figured why not use some actual electronics/robot parts for battletech markers.
@boundless08, Nice Icon,Interesting skull totem in place of the usual pole.

Will post another battletech marker set tomorrow, its a bigone so stay tuned!

I kept at it and knocked out the nurgle objective marker last night. Needs some more detailing after the greenstuff cures but you get the gist of it:

Oooo I like that one, very nurgle,no shame in saying that's better than my icon.
As for Slaanesh,Draping's of Green Stuff Flesh,Sonic Sirens/Rams Horns,And or a ground dwelling Boob,It is Slaanesh after all.

These are some Orky objective markers I made. Made from cereal box cardboard, with some added Imperial transfers. They also work pretty well as ammo crates / scatter terrain.

These are old Warhammer Fantasy square bases with dice from the Dark Vengeance box. A little bit of Martian earth texture paint. The hazard stripes took me a while, but I think they really help the base stand out on the tabletop.

Nothing fancy, but I think they turned out pretty good all things considered.

Final Necron Spy Scarab Group (4)
Posed in Sneaky looking positions for effect,Used to gather information and operational or structural weakness's in enemy forces, once retrieved by a necron unit,
that unit alters its programming with new tactical information Upgrading weapon damage/power,Strength+1 to Gauss weaponry, now being able to target critical weakness's.
Can also be used as the main mission objective,a necron kill team tasked with gathering several such Spy Scarabs and leave there side of the battlefield, gaining much needed information on the enemy.

Necron Spy Scarab Swarm.
A full Size Swarm of x12 Spy Scarabs,Function in the same way as normal spy scarabs, but while acting as one unit, gains a special attack,Eldritch burst,a low power but short ranged attack "6/S3/AP-1 Small Blast.

That's one big carpet of crawly's,i guess this tomb world awakened with undamaged alternate scarab functions,
There won't be any more necron markers now, unless i make another one sometime in the future that is,will have to wait and see as always.

Thought i would throw some idea's out there of stuff i was and still might make at some point,at the same time would be interesting to see someone else claim one or more of the marker ideas below,
Complete with parts guide, what i was planning to use as materials base themes etc.

Ork Hunter Killer Missile Platform.
(Placed on a cavalry base industrial theme with garlic mesh or plant/gardening drainage mesh, using sprue to make a launch rig, adding ribbon cable wiring and other embellishments wheels with hubcaps feet for the launcher, the missile itself made from a superglue top,
with half a bb added as the control dome or small Ariels, adding wings with straws as extra engines, with additional 25mm base with a unloaded vertical standing rocket on a small rack made from sprue with card feet)
Can be used by human or ork forces to launch multiple missiles of questionable effect,it might melt a tank in one hit, kill a whole squad with frag, fly backwards or do nothing at all.

The Bolter of Ages.
(A concrete pedestal made from thin card balsa etc on a 40mm concrete themed base with two eagles guarding the sidewalks,on said platform a rogue trader era bolter is placed representing a master crafted weapon)
In order to gain the use of this special equipment item,a master crafted dark age of technology, boltgun,a trial of combat must first be passed,
Alternatively The item is worth a large credit amount Necromunda&Shadow War use,and can be fought over and captured or hoarded for later use or resale etc.

Necromunda Pearl Eyed Spiders.
(Based on 40mm industrial or sump/sewer bases, cheapo plastic spiders the kind used on Halloween or for pranks, with added green stuff eyes)
Monsters from the sump the lowest part of a hive city, rare and hard to kill in there native enviroment, but once killed fetch a handsome bounty,as the pearls are much valued in the high courts of hive tops.

Pressure Plate Trap.
(40mm Base woodland themed with broken & fallen trees etc, using a ork hubcap the flat ones and a jerrycan with a grenade pack attached to it,linked to the hubcap pressure plate with some PC ribbon cable)
When within 3" Of a Pressure plate trap roll a D6 on a 4+ the explosives are triggered and detonate, with frag profile and small base radius

Spikepit Trap.
(40mm Base woodland themed, with a square indentation filled with cocktail stick/toothpick tips painted up as bloody wooden spikes, the pit around the spikes will have liquid mud in the form of glossy mud using water effects)
Simple environmental trap, sharp sticks dipped in something gross will become more than capable of wounding or killing, can be avoided however on a 3+ as it is not as well camouflaged as other such traps

Necron Salvage.
(2to6 40mm Bases granite/ash themed, several necron body limb and head bits partially covered in ash/dirt etc, alternatively on open concrete with extensive battle-damages using spare bits missing critical parts,
adding some broken translucent green BB's to represent the gauss crystal)
Used to boast squad numbers with extra warriors by means of repair, moving into close range with resurrection abilitys and reviving the unliving once more.

Next Marker 26th October.

You know I'm going to have to do this now, don't you! Gorkdarnit, I just bought a new (1988 mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet) old car, I don't have time for this! But I want to so bad. Love the whole crazy idea of the thing.

It's yours although got a feeling several others will eventually make there own, since the idea's so easy and simple plus easy to aquire parts.
Also a few variants could be made,Cruise missiles (similar to the V-1 with a nice pulse-engine),Copperhead Anti Tank Missile (a nice domed greenstuff warhead),Archeotech Hybrid Missile lots of alien bits added to said rocket (could open a blackhole, summon a webway,or turn a squad inside out)

As for the others same for them a few variants could be made, etc mechaspiders! lol, necron repair pad a different kinda necron salvage thingy, the woodland traps could be fixed functions aka frag/krak/melta charges,poison/spring loaded spikes.

In the Warp, getting trolled by Tactical_Spam, AKA TZEENTCH INCARNATE

Meant to post these here a while ago, but forgot about it until this thread popped back into my mind!

Anyway, I built these around the time Shadow War: Armageddon was released, inspired by the detail on the Sector Mechanicus bases.

First up is an ammo cache:

Next, an Imperial shrine/monument, commemorating a victory on some far-off world:

A fuel pump:

And a set of construction tools:

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Tactical_Spam: Ezra is fighting reality right now.

War Kitten: Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...

War Kitten: Ezra can steal reality

Kharne the Befriender:Took him seven years but he got it wrangled down

Them sector mechanicus bases look surprisingly good for objective marker use,That's one nice set of construction tools that chainsaw conversion is well cool, and simple too,
Call me inspired, would like to make a few of them now, looks proper badass, different looking ammo cache too, nice use of the leman russ engine box, that boltgun fits suspiciously well.

Finally got some paint on some of my recent batch of objectives. Nothing super exciting really.

I had a lid from an old Mordheim treasure chest (Not sure what happened to the rest) so I chopped it in half and made these two buried treasure pieces.
A player can move anyone into contact with the buried treasure counter but they may do nothing else that turn as they dig it out. Once dug up it can be moved around with the unit who is carrying it. Thought I'd give them a candy stripe base to make them stand out on the table top.

Then there's this one. Nothing very clever going on here. I took the Bag of Pickled Onion flavour Halflings from the Giant kit and slapped it on a base. Handy enough for playing some kind of "Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" game.

Also, I've gone and started a set of six plastic Halloween spiders. Ork ballistic missiles are too much work.

Buried Goodys huh always good to stock up on some extra treasure markers,if my 25mm bases ever decide to dispatch i intended to make a few more of my own,a few piles of sprue silver ingots to go with my gold ones,Skipping the ork missile launcher is fair enough it would take a degree of scratch building and several bits not everyone will have, whereas the pearl eye spiders are almost ready out of the box or bag or whatever them Halloween spiders come in,As for the sack of halflings probably make for a good ratling hunt marker also.

They started out in a bag of plastic Halloween spiders, and some static grass.
Spoiler:

... and ended up like this.

Happy Halloween objective lovers!

I did the bases in a classic SOYOM! (Show Off Your Objective Markers!) garlic net metal so they'd be good for Necromunda but you know, spiders get everywhere.

I actually played a little game with these one evening with my 6 year old son. Bunch of goblins hunting for spiders in the woods. just a bit of fun. I've done a wee write up over on my Goblins thread if you want to know how that went.

Lho-Leaf Herbs & Cigars.
Grants guardsmen improved accuracy,+1 Ballistic skill,at a drawback of -1 Initiative skill to a unit of no more than 10men,also worth alot at market, and can be traded for a whole fuel cache "shadow war".

Pallet of Hotshot Ammo Packs.
Acts as a Hotshot upgrade for basic troops wielding standard las weapons,Gains AP- (Armour Piercing) +S (Strength),a single squad is upgraded free with hotshot ammo for 1 battle only, the palletful of power packs are burned out from overcharging after that timeframe.

I have many more idea's for markers and will share another 10,but beware i have already made a good few of them, and likely the rest in time, either way they look nothing like you imagine they would.
Also today happens to be my 28th birthday, marking a literal age milestone for me hosting this thread, which is why today gets a double posting of some of my more interesting markers.
The new markers made so far are,x1 Necron Salvage,x2 Unprogrammed Servo Skulls,x1 Demon Slayer Sword,x2 Pressure Plate Traps,x3 WHFB Weapon Drops/Stashs,x1 Apothecary's Storefront,x1 Lho-Leaf Herbs & Cigars,x3 Assorted Ammo Drops,All the markers will be added to the massive marker queue, and will all eventually be seen.

@theCrowe,Awe they look cute in a sorta fluffy cartoon way,and look strangely good with paint on,nice little battle report with the spiders bet goblins ride them things lol goblin spider riders,
Want a bunch for myself now, gonna order me a bag after some of my other orders arrive.

Since I am planning to dive head over heal into necromunda once it's out, I am realizing with almost a double take, how much win this thread really is. I think shortly I will rebuild quite a lot of the here shown markers...
On an open battlefield many of the lot of them might be oddly out of place, but in an urban setting all of them have their justification!

Speaking of, how did you do the amo packages...pressmoulded or how else? The people need to know!!!

@Viktor von Domm.
Sounds good,But you should keep checking back i'am far from done with markers,As for how did i make the ammo packs,it was for this thread months back, and is all well documented in my blog/lab link at the bottom of my posts, they were all individually molded and painted using green stuff molds i had to also make, along with many many other things needed for several other markers like the pallet of hotshot,i have yet to post! If you truly are planning to make a good number of the markers here beware its massive cost in both time and effort.

I am currently on my phone, so no sigs and thus no links...but when I'm home again then I'll be all over it
A friend here from Dakkadakka provided me with that reusable mold making stuff...(I keep forgetting that name always...) and even another friend here used got glue was as a means to duplicate stuff...both put together might reduce time and affordable financial measures a bit. .but in the end...what needs to be done will be done...

Made in gb
Boosting Ultramarine Biker

@Viktor von Domm.
Fair enough,And as for duplication with hot glue,it can be done but the quality is low most of the time, unsure if it would even hold the shape of the buttons on something as small as a 2mmx2mm pouch for example, although i have seen some alright barrels made from hot glue here on dakka as you said,so a fuel dump, water stash, and some booby traps could likely be made.

.Anyone have any "good" idea's for objective markers, and you think i can pull it off, post away! be detailed on construction if possible, see how i presented the ideas above.
