Well, I don't think this has been covered in the 22 pages of the previous Chaos Codex discussion, but appareantly there's a "Codex: Daemonica" (69Hastings75) coming out in April, 2008, covering LatD and Daemons/Chaos Gods (grimtuff), which Harry (a very reliable source in Warseer, too) didn't rebut. Sorry if I didn't carry it over to the other Thread. Need be, please erase this one and merge both. Also, please keep in mind that this is a rumour, not a confirmed fact. EDIT: I seem to have missed a question mark in the topic. Sorry if it's misleading, guys.

If this prooves to be true then I am very thankful for GW not being totally slowed. All it means is that Chaos players will only have to wait 7 months to have decent deamons, greater deamons, and deamonic cavalry again.

That we have to wait any months at all to have such a large element of our armies "given" back to us is a bit nuts, frankly. But I am happy to hear that LatD and Proper Demons are just down the pipe, and no doubt waaaay before the Orks get their book - Boss Salvage

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed on this one. On one hand, I'm pretty skeptical about another Chaos-related codex so soon. On the other hand, miniature sales mean everything. If they'll have plastic daemons to push, the codex becomes a lot more likely. And that would probably mean new WFB Daemonic Legion rules too. I was initially highly skeptical that they'd allow CSM players to use daemons from the new codex, as it doesn't make any design sense to take detailed daemons away only to give them back eight months later. But then again, if plastic daemons are on the way, they'll want to push them to CSM players too. Miniature sales trumps GW game design.

I still think plastic demons will accompany the new WHFB Chaos book rather than a 40k Chaos release. When that may be, I can't say.

As long as the daemonettes are as good a sculpt I don't mind them gaining clothes. I don't see it as a wrong move from GW, especially considering youger players, which everyone seems to despise yet most were once like that.

I am always distressed when I see people coveting new plastics.
Have you "Plastic lovers" not learned anything from the recent DA releases? GW plastics are blobby, un-crisp, PoS's in comparison to metals. It doesn't matter how many times you red in WD that "Plastics are getting really good. New technology means they're almost as good as metal. HONEST!", it just isn't true.

Give and take, give and take. Considering some of the past DA models, the plastics were nice. Decent sculpts and lots of options. Done well they are good. But that can be said of everything. They can't get the undercuts, but that is a simple clean up with a hobby knife.
Either when done well are fine.

I love the new DA plastics. The shoulderpad icons were a lot crisper than the BT. In fact, the quality overall was pretty high. As for metals, well, let's just say there are some real crappy casts and sculpts out there in the land of "detail heaven".

New technology means they're almost as good as metal. HONEST!", it just isn't true. I've been in the Hobby for 12 years. I prefer plastic to metal in many things. Easily converted, assorted bits, more freedom in poseability. Yes, GW's plastics are somewhat large, but some of them I find very much to my liking, like the WHFB's Chaos Warriors. Plus, it´s generally a cheaper way to build an army. BTW, the DA plastic releases were mainly bits to use with, or based upon, the Space Marines Sprue, which is over 8 years old, and showing some age - I can understand they're unwilling to remake the image of the plastic SM. And for the record, I dropped my WD subscription 4 years ago and I haven't bought one ever after. I generally prefer a cut-up plastic miniature ready to assemble than a single block of metal, I can understand if you feel otherwise but I don't see a need for such an outburst.

I prefer metal for my characters and heroes. But you can't beat plastic for making each trooper an individual without spending hours and hours cutting metal and greenstuffing. I too really like the new DA plastics, and when painted side by side with the old metal DA vets, they stand up pretty well.

I believe April 2008 about as much as I believe Tex-Mex can be qualified as healthfood. We have very strong rumors of the Armageddon, Chaos, and Orks (not in any order). That puts the next codex mid-year at best. I think 2009 is a much more likely event, if ever.

We have Armageddon, Chaos, and the Orks army box by the end of this year, along with High Elves. Orks will be the early next year release (Jan). April doesn't seem that far off kilter. We have VC and maybe Redux as the only other rumours for next year so far.

The rumours I had heard were Apocalypse, yes it is that, was soon to follow Codex Chaos. December being the army release for Orks, and like DA full release in January. 2 months for the next release. It would pretty much depend on when Apocalypse gets put out and how much ork stuff they have to release and push. I just think it is possible, just not likely

This doesn't have anything to do with me believing it or not. It's a rumour, and the interesting bit wasn't only the date, but the possibility that the codex is coming out. *speculation* - with their investment in Apocalypse (with it's high-priced kits like the baneblade, assuming any others are coming out) GW will put itself in a difficult position if the investment doesn't pay off (an even more difficult position, that is ). That's why they'd need to put out everything as fast as they can. And the supposed Codex: Daemonica could get it's kits in due time, but it will appeal to old Chaos players who felt disappointed in the "new" Codex: Chaos. In the meantime Orks will fill the gap as a good army to collect (mainly because of the simple paint jobs - mostly green!), loads of character and some cool looking minis. Eh. If it's true one could almost say it was planned.
