Hi Guys,

Hammerhead was a blast and a bit of a baptism of fire for the girls.

The new stand held up well and means we will self sufficient for salute.

Attached is a video of a new servo arm coming real soon.

Cheers

Kit

Dam I wish I could have gone, well to be fair I was going but I had a bad case of gut ache so the thought of queuing for any length of time did not seem a good idea.

Glad it was a success and the stand looks pretty good although I cant tell what the hell you have in the packets at the back.

I was squinting to make them out I am going to go to Salute this year no matter what so will see you there

Cant see the servo arm as my quick play will not run it for some dam unknown stupid reason

But I know it looks cool any way

Just ordered some rough prototype prints so i can check shape size and fit.

Their working titles are called:

Map table, Command panels and warp portal

'citin'

I like the map table thingy. So customers will add their own map (from thin paper or plastic) on top? Certainly useful for dioramas - I'm imagining a totally cool spaceship bridge interior

if you can find a compact driver small enough to put in the design that would work much better with an Electroluminescent panel at the back rather than LEDs

oh hey, Kit, I'll be at Salute this year too, you going to do the pick-up-order thing again? it was great fun just walking around grabbing bags of stuff from you & Joel and other places before the doors opened for most people

Cant wait for the servo arms. Half the stuff I bought from you last year is in storage waiting for a Warpsmith conversion

Using EL panels for that is more trouble than it's worth. It's not hard to diffuse light from an LED either - I find simple semi-opaque thin white tape works (you know, the cheap stuff), or just a white baking sheet with cellotape on both sides.
an alternative would be pointing the LED away from the panel to be lighted and reflecting the light off of the rest of the inside of that model
Really, going EL panels for that size of project is crazy (in price alone - those drivers aren't free either!)

@Bolognesus - Amen to that I have tried all sorts with EL wire but it just isnt that great. Probably good for scenery.

In other news - this arrived today

I realy like that table!
suggestion: make the design a little more generic around the edges, so we can buy a few and link them together!

@ Git - Thanks

@ Grundz - Thanks but not sure what you mean - the table is only approx 60mm x 30mm - I can do bigger ones but what for?

Well that makes more sense then, I was assuming it was rather small, I was imaginging using several of them as sort of a tactical "sandbox" with the little figures and arms to push them around on it, but at that size, there's no need to use more than one
