That's not a mistake, apparently...
So glad I got it from The Warstore for $64 now.

I'm not sure what Icestorm has in it beyond a "Quick Start Rules" set.

Do they still offer the complete rules for free on their website like the old rules? Because at $80 I don't see them selling any of those books, but especially if that's still the case.

Yeah rules are free on the website. Still sold pretty well so far I think.

You'd be wrong about them not selling the new N3 books. FLGS is almost sold out of the stock they received of the N3 set.

Lots of people pre-ordered, and lots of people are picking the set up from what I hear.

Yes, the N3 rules are out 3 months early to appease the masses whining like kids that they didn't get their free shinies.

If you preordered then you also got a free mini too. The book is actually two books in a slipcase. One is the rules, one is a fluff book. Well worth it in my opinion

Aleph got a unit recently, the Dactyl, which still doesn't have a profile. Between her, the supposed upcoming Dactyl character, and the supposed upcoming Agema heavy weapons guy, I fully expect the updated profiles to have new units. However, the new units will probably be relegated to only Aleph and Tohaa considering the other factions already have their new stuff in the main N3 rulebook.

If it's not, then...wow. Why?

Also, I assume Icestorm doesn't have the full rules in it, either?
Icestorm rules are very base-bones, but it contains enough to at least learn how the game works. It's also wonderfully structured to give you and a friend introductory scenarios that escalate in complexity/

The $80 rulebook is not required. All the rules are available for free online with both unit profiles and rules to play. You're mostly paying for convenience, pretty pictures, and the fluff book. I enjoy the game enough to think it's worth it. YMMV. You could always just read up on rules online, learn the game, play with friends, and consider picking up the rulebook at a later date. It's not going anywhere.

Do note that the game is in flux right now between editions and many units don't have updated profiles yet that we know will change. Everything in the core rulebook is solid, but PDF updates of the explansion units have yet to come out.

Corregidor got new units in N3; jaguars & bandits. Hassassins got new Govads. There's a few other examples. It would seem they're making an effort to add some missing unit types to sectorials, Corregidor for example getting WB & infiltrating camo units.

I thought the point of a sectorial was that while excluding some unit types, you can take more of other types with link teams. Continuing with Corregidor as the example, they've lacked smoke, infiltration & WB, but get more of the hard hitting straight up combat units with MI & AD choices.

What I'm really getting at is:
Should we expect new units across the board for each faction in an effort to give existing sectorials an all encompassing selection of unit types?
Or will new releases be strictly confined to what will soon be new sectorials, Tunguska, USAriadna, etc?

I'd like to see some new units for JSA. However, as they're meant to be an all out assault force I don't see them getting that kind of attention any time soon. They have everything to achieve that, but something like a WB or a tougher HI choice might be interesting. I hope Raiden Seibutai are tweaked to stack up better against other factions' MI fire support choices. The obvious effort to overhaul vanilla Yu Jing would seem to take precedent for now though.

Well I was suprised by new units for Corr, I thought same thing as you do, but now I think they want to give sectorials an option...to cover their weak side...Corr didnt had a infiltration unit now, It is not the best infiltrator in game but we are no longer disabled by not having one.
And I like to have a choice, do I want ton of bad ass AD units or try my luck with Bandits, or make more assault list and have WB. Choices are fun.

Could you explain this more? Are there rules posted for these Rasail models somewhere? Could I just take one of these Chaksa as part of a link team of other Tohaa models, unlike normal Chaksa which can't form Triads?

I bought N3 but there are no Tohaa entries, right? So where would I find the rules for new Tohaa units?

Sorry if this is obvious and thanks for any tips, particularly about the Rasail rules.

We don't have the full rules yet for the Rasail, but we have been told so far that they're a G: Synchronized team.

You wouldn't be able to separate those Chaksa from the Rasail.

No need for that at all.

They released the free rules at the requests of the community due to ITS 2015 starting in February. People need time to adjust to a new ruleset, no matter how similar to an old ruleset, before jumping into a tournament season. The people whining didn't have anything to do with it. Just well reasoned arguments from one of the parts of the community CB actively take part in that have reason to need the rules sooner rather than later.

Yeah, this was more expensive than the N2 books. However, consider - the set is roughly double the page count of the previous book and, as someone who works in the print industry, using some pretty good quality material even if they are soft cover. It's a high quality product, and much higher page count than the previous books. The price is actually justified.

But if you don't want the fluff at all or just want to try before you buy, you don't have to pay it. The free download on the website is the exact one they used for the rules book.

Yeah but you never used them as an agresive repeater like vanila Nomads do.

Now with Intruder/Aguacile hacker more resonably priced and propably cheper Wildcat hacker coming soon, Morans become really good unit.

Bandits look like fun and diffrent unit and as Nomad player Im looking forward to field them.

So, what was stopping the people that HAD to have the rules to play in ITS tournaments from purchasing the book and supporting the company? Playing in an ITS tournament with free rules and figures you already own doesn't do anything for their bottom line.
Going out and buying the rules set does.

I liked having the rules early, to help combat my information ADD. I also pre-ordered the rules to make sure I got them and the mini as soon as it was released. If people were really that concerned about having the rules, they should have pre-ordered. Or bought from the many retailers that now have the set in stock.

It just seemed like a vocal minority complaining about not being given the rules as soon as THEY wanted, not when CB wanted to release them.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Kan! I think I'm passing on these since I have a lot of models that could stand in for them if I want to try them out. Looking forward to seeing their rules at the least, though

A lot of people who were complaining did "go out and buy the rules set". They also had events planned prior to the announcement of N3, which would be obligated to become N3 events because of the way ITS works.

Another reason for the complaints is due to the complexity of Infinity itself. A large number of groups had just flatout ceased playing in the run-up to N3 and a lot of new players were just waiting to start, because the complexity of N2's rules set was very offputting and the promises of a "more streamlined system in N3" was appealing to them.

I don't think you actually were paying attention to what was happening.

A lot of the "vocal minority complaining" were not complaining about "not being given the rules as soon as they wanted", but rather because of the lack of communication surrounding the release. It should not have been the case that a retailer(Wayland Games) made the announcement about a delay before CB did.
They lucked out significantly in the timeframe of them receiving the books and then pushing them out the door, as it seems that one minor slipup could have thrown the whole thing into next year rather than being already done.

The other part of the complaints was the simple fact that rather than giving any kind of tentative update about when the PDFs updating Human Sphere and Paradiso would be out; they ignored the problem and said "It will be out when Army Builder 5 is out"--more or less pushing any potential blame onto the shoulders of -V-, the man who does the AB program.
The PDF Updates really should have been ready to go with N3's release, especially considering they have pushed "Acheron Falls" back until 2016 at the earliest.

Ok so the N3 book has 2 new units for each faction.
Off the top of my head, that would be...

Nomads: Jaguars & Bandits, but are Rev. healers & Grenzers "new" too
Ariadna: USAriadna Grunts & ... idk
PanO: no clue, Father Knight maybe?
CA: well actually 4 right? Bactoids, Umbra & 2 "evil Tohaa"

... as you see I'm failing at this endeavor.

Is there a complete list of "new units" in the N3 book?

Is that a natural 21?

I don't think there is a complete list. Ariadna also got the Hardcases which are part of USAriadna, but with all the recosting of profiles I feel like Ariadna gained a lot of units that will actually see the table now. PanO just got the Father Knight by the looks of it, but they also have probably the most profiles available to them with just the unit entries in the rulebook.

Discontinued models are here:

http://infinitytheforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/25137-discontinued-list-of-discontinued-references-q4-2014/

-References discontinued due to the release of N3, PENDING OF RENEWAL (their profiles will remain at the Army):

280421-0124 Ahl Fassed (Boarding Shotgun)
280426-0149 Halqa (Rifle + Light Shotgun)
280705-0174 Avicenna

So no, not removed permanently. The only confirmed removals of entire units are the CA Operators and the Caskuda. The other confirmed removals are just some HMG options and a Tiger Soldier with a boring rifle.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

A very intriguing bit in the background section of the new book, when discussing TAGs; it describes some as human-like, some arachnid-like and some as 'bird-like'.

Makes you wonder if it's just some conjecture with the writer, or we might well see a new type of TAG at some point in the future? Perhaps even a 'flying' type unit, beyond the Meteor Zond?

My guess is bird-like probably means more along the lines of being digitigrade (what some mech-lovers call "chicken legs").

Maybe the Blue Wolf will be close to its namesake and be a digitigrade? And if they stick close to the early art of the supposed Ariadna TAG, then I believe it was digitigrade as well.

Spoiler:

Hasn't he been rebasing all the studio models as per the changes we recently saw? Perhaps this is his new take on Scarface with the larger base this time.

It would seem he's got the bracers on the forearms reversed on this new Scarface, so I'm thinking its not the old model retouched.
