you might be oldschool, I know I am. But we just started doing facetime with my brother and sister-in-law who are in CA while we are in MO. Seems simple enough and would be possible to co-ordinate with a few people. I am no techno-geek by any stretch and rarely text. I have facebook because some of my old highschool friends told me they keep up with each other online. tried it for about a week, haven't touched it in months.

P.S. Mark if your reading this go back to sleep or get to designing and planning the next Kick Starter.

Just a side note, thank you to everyone who sent me pms or responded here about my friends daughter. She passed away early this morning, I don't have all the details yet, and have not had a chance to talk to him during this entire ordeal. The family will need prayer now more than ever as they continue forward.

Well, in my opinion, the reason that Mark's project has succeeded so fantastically is his truly impressive designs. Of course, his hard work, planning, engagement with people, etc. helps - but I (and a lot of others, I bet) wouldn't have bought in if the stuff wasn't just absolutely cooler than anything out there.. I can't think of a single company besides GW that has stuff as awesomely designed as this. Not PP, not any of the smaller companies. Heck, I think that Mark's work is even superior to some of Forgeworld's stuff (and the simple, easy joy of PLATIC!).

WGF would have to get some new designer(s) with some good skills - their greatcoat stormtroopers, for example, are really mediocre, in terms of design, in my opinion (though kudos for having a multi-part plastic kit that' svery readily available).

I think WGF should back Mark's Iron-Core line if they could. It's so much better than anything else out there. Hopefully, at least, this Kickstarter will lead to an ongoing relationship in which mark can design stuff that WGF then physically manufactures.

Oh, I'm sure WGF is putting a lot of thought into extensively supporting Iron Core. Their shock troopers were clearly a disappointment, but Mark's stuff is amazing (as stated before, it's the quality of the sculpt going in that determines the quality of the models coming out). I would bet money that WGF would love to have a complete Sci-Fi line of minis to represent multiple armies that are not only used for a specific game, but can also easily be marketed as a less costly alternative to be used in W40K. The Kickstarter comments have many people, myself included, stating the intention of using these models in W40K.

Perhaps a simple matter of different boxing. Sell them as both Iron Core specific and generic WGF models. They all come off the same molds, simply put them in whichever box the customer orders. Provide an incentive to Dreamforge either through credits/discounts on thier orders, or a license fee on the WGF branded sales.

Just realized I never posted a final count of what I bought so might as well do it now! Here goes:

20-man Infantry set,
Ada (x2),
Shakodesh,
Support weapons squad (x3),
Command Squad,
Heavy support Squad,
Heavy assault Squad,
Heavy Valkir unit,
Female tank hunter squad,

Total- 100 minis!

Funny thing is that I never planned for such a nice round number but hey, it works out pretty good!

Now I didn't get any vehicles or leviathans but I am looking for a more sleek, sci-fi type thing to go with my sedition wars stuff. Don't suppose any of you can point me in the right direction?

The problem with the Shock Troops is not so much the design (it's not that great), but the fact that it stands all alone, imo. There is almost no company support in creating a game, or campaigns. The Historical stuff is fine, there are plenty of games that can use it, but sci-fi, if you don't want to purely be used as a "count-as" provider, needs its own game.

Heck, they could endorse Stargrunt II at a minimum and it'd be something.

Iron-Core would be a deity-send for WGF.

I got Ninja'd big time on this one...

I wanted to throw in on KS but my entire budget for the next several months was blown on Zombicide/Sedition Wars/Red Box Games and haven't had enough time to recover. While I was all over KS at first I'm finding it kinda odd now as I'm broke over stuff I won't see for months. grr.

I'm glad to see Mark raised some good numbers as I love his work and plastic kits are win. I'll definately be picking them up when they are available for general release.

Mark make sure you work with a lawyer avoid the situation WGF ended up in, also check with a tax accountant as "donations" from kickstarter could be considered capital gains and mean a very heavy chunk in taxes.

New update, looks like Mark is really hustling on the pledge manager!

Yesterday was a day of prepping files, making punch lists and phone calls

I don’t have a specific day that the survey will go out but we are looking towards the end of this week, WGF is still working on the coding and looking over the best way to deal with additional pledge amounts if needed.

We will try to have a custom account for each backer that uses either/both your name and or you email to sign into the pledge manager. Your pledge amount will auto fill and if you go over what has already been paid, it will open an option to submit the remaining amount through a PayPal account that WGF is setting up. I have a PayPal account but I would prefer not to use it as WGF will need continual access to the account to verify the revised pledges against what they will have in a database. The pledge manager will remain open and available for a few weeks; we will need to close it down before the items are scheduled to leave China. This will likely be late October (I will update when I have a specific date on this).

Soon after the pledge manager has been made available to the Kickstarter backers, I will open up a pledge manager to handle pledges from those that were unable to participate in the Kickstarter. Participating in the Kickstarter was an issue for some customers that did not have credit cards that could be accepted by Amazon Payments. We are still working on the procedure for this to try and limit abuse.

All the best!

Mark

The end of the week would be much faster then any of the comparable KSers that I have been involved with.

Yes, that is a result. The sooner I can tell Mark what Shinies I want, the better.

I kept on using the online calculator to work out what I wanted would cost me, so I shouldn't have extra to pay, (and yes, I was on the "International" tab) in fact my total with ship as soon as available came to $397. I hope he takes the full $400, although I expect him to double check that, as even without a rule set, the models alone deserve to succeed and a couple of $ spare is not going to worry me. It might persuade mark to set up a list of previous backers for the next faction so he can e-mail them and let them know that the next KS is up and running - I was late to this one, only finding out about it with 10 days left, and I hate to think how hard I'd have been kicking myself if I hadn't had time to get some models.

Paypal will also allow more people to jump in on this now. I know my gaming group went bonkers trying to contact me to get the black widows squad. I'm so happy my cell was off during that evening.

All's well that ends well. And we get stuff this year too!

I may need more than just the 6 15mm leviathans that I got. I think these will be super Forge Fiends!!! Can't wait for these guys to show up now and all the arms!

Fantastic Mark! Glad I can add to my pledge with Paypal

Salacious- Wow, one is even called a "Maulerfiend". Talk about perfect timing for the Dreamforge Mauler! Buy a few gun arms and use it as a Forgefiend. I have a feeling when that book hits, if it's before the pledge manager closes by end of Oct, more people will be jumping in for 15mm Maulers.

At the very least, there was going to be a need for Hellbrutes from the DV kit. That's why I had already pledged for 2 of them.

If they can be bought in units, however, I might need to rethink my pledge...

That would be crazy awesome, since within that time frame I could get the $$ for an APC or two, one with Zeus conversion of course.

EDIT Seems the intent is for those who may have under pledged for things like shipping, though I dont see why it couldnt be used to add on items. I think final call on that would be up to Mark and the folks at WGF.

This is the part I was referring to . Clearly we can add to pledges, and even have new folks pledge, once this hits! And until he has to close it, sometime in Oct.

Man that will be a headache for the WGF people though if people go nuts adding onto their pledges. I may add on a little extra, but I'm going to keep it to a minimum. May just get some valkir and that's it. I don't think they're intending it to be where everyone just says "BUY ALL THE THINGS!!!111ONEONEONE" and have their pledges triple overnight.

^took the words right out of my mouth.

Unless there is drastic abuse, I do think they'll be quite happy to sell more stuff. Drops in the ocean, so to speak.

You should be glad, MrMoustaffa, it'll give you time to add the stuff you wanted! :-)

When you think about it, November is really just around the corner...

In light of the disappointing new Chaos stuff just leaked, it looks like I might have more money freed up to invest in a mini-Mortis and arms. ~$75 for a kooky, ZOIDS/Pwer-Rangers style flying Dragon, or same amount for an AWESOME Dreadknight-sized monster with 4 extra arms? Think I'll go for the latter...

I might be interested in adding some more and/or female infantry, maybe a couple of weapons/APCs - Phase 2 & 3 stuff I couldn't afford at the time (I went in for $700 as it was), but I hope this doesn't impact the delivery dates on the stuff that's due to ship in Phase 1...

I think that's why he needs to close things by the end of Oct. I don't know how WGF works, but I assume they have to ship things by boat from their factory, and then distribute it from a site in the U.S.?

If so, they wouldn't need to know specific numbers of things (assuming they're sending extra) before it gets put on the boat... but they would need to know before it arrived for distribution.

I believe he'd said the survey should go out around the end of this week or so, right? Definitely looking forward to it
