Fantasy doesn't have tanks or guys on motor bikes. Its the vehicles of war that won me over to the 40K side of things.

Spellbound hit the nail on the head.

Orkeosaurus wrote:I don't like ranked combat; more specifically, I have a problem with ranked combat and painting. It just seems like you're just putting work into another rank bonus, and not a model of its own.

The lack of actual death seems a little silly too. Especially with the way the armies are often described in the fluff.

Huh? Lack of death?

Sgt. Salt wrote:Pretty much every reason I don't play Fantasy has already been stated already.

I've tried several times to start it up but every time I just get bored and switch back to pewpew lasers.

The main thing for me though I think is that I'm investing a lot of time and money for another rank bonus. Especially with armies like Skaven and VC.

Oh and I've seen the new Skaven book and I might be wrong but it's totally broken, who would've guessed?

GW really needs to stop writing physic powers/spells that remove models from play. That's just bs.

And the hydra is awesome, kiss my ass.

Yeah but at least you can kill a LR with one good shot. Can't do that to a fething Hydra.

That was an issue indeed. It had it's drawbacks too though. 4th/5th edition was a game that required a bit of cooperation and compromise to be fun. You had the basic rules for playing and organising an army, but to have a good game you had to set additional limits or thinker with the organisation chart. i.e. 25% characters max. rather than 50% max. for example, or only cheaper magic items, limiting wizards to a certain level/x00 points, ban monsters or restrict them to a certain max. point value (for ex. 150 pts). Or you only played with campaign rules to give the inclusion of powerfull stuff some justification (no big monsters/wizards/magic items without the required territory).

If you look at the top placings and winners of the most recent tournaments you would think the only three armies out there are DE, VC, and Daemons.

I made the jump to 40k about 9 months about now, and have never regretted the switch. The arguments that come up over "wheeling" units alone have caused me more than one gray hair, and that is just the tip of the iceberg of problems with that version of Warhammer.

And we're back were WFB 5th had us... Friendly games are fun (with a few added limits/agreements), competitive games are based on all possible exploits within the rules.

Lizards & Empire show up as spoilers.
