I was gonna use MLPs as thunderwolf cavalry in my Pretty Marines chapter of Space Wolves called Space Fawkses. But I traded them away and I'm so happy to see someone do it (even better than I would have).
You could strap a pantsless ork on something and make it look Imperial with enough Aquillas and Purity Seals. -Da Butcher

Okay... I want to say this 'Bronies' business is deeply disturbing but i'm having trouble placing y'all as social miscreants. I am intrigued though, a little scared even...
As for your army, i've always had a soft spot for toy cutting. Very nice! May i suggest 40k cavalry bases instead of Fantasy ones? Because if a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing well.

I think there was a pic up a while back with AJ in Termie armour- don't worry about bulking the body parts or the hooves up too much- they're ponies, they can handle the weight, and don't rely on flexibility as much as us bipeds. Though the cast hair might actually be a little difficult to work around if you can't flex it too much.
Actually, are they made of a material that you can bend and cut easily? They seem sort of rubbery from looking at them.
D'Oh! Wrong profile...

Surely we could band together and send you some... I have a few
Its ok ^_^ I have a ton of round bases I can chop up like Anvildude suggested. Thanks for the offer though
Kay, you might be best making one perfect base and using Oyumaru to get a load of green stuff casts. You get can an endless supply for 8 sterling, inc p&p, and i'm sure you've got green stuff.
DPBellathrom wrote:Still, working out how to make the armour a bit heavier but I’m sure I’ll figure something out :3
In the past i've found that the best way to add bulk is raised detail. If you added some more trim and Space Marine armour details then you might be surprised how much more solid it looks. You could also add some sort of backpack style respirator/power pack, it will add weight and it will also look badass. Again i'd suggest making a perfect master copy and casting loads with Oyumaru.
RedIronGames wrote:Actually, are they made of a material that you can bend and cut easily? They seem sort of rubbery from looking at them.
Looks like a hard plastic to me. For the life of me i don't seem to be able to track down what they are made of online. It should say it on the bag or box that they came in. I did find some info saying the G4 models are 12grams which suggests a hard plastic and it's doubtful that they would be hollow at twelve grams. Hmm, that could be a blessing in disguise though. It means they will be easy to cut with a jewelers saw and file down, i'd wear a mask/respirator if you can't find out what they are made of though.
Anywho, DP: if i was going to take my first, cautious, steps into the world of brony, how would you suggest i go about that?

I am definitely going to watch this. You've made a great job so far, though I am wondering a bit why you didn't sand the bases before painting them (I assume you basecoat?).
Oh, and make sure to include a power hoof. Please.
Now:
Spoiler:
During the Age of Strife, warpstorms, alien invasion and civil war tore apart the galaxy-spanning dominion of Ponykind, isolating worlds from each other, leading to their technological decline and leaving the vulnerable to attack. When the Empress revealed herself on Equestria to embark on her quest to reunify scattered Ponykind, it was at the head of an army of altered super-warriors - the predecessors of the Space Mares. With the conquest of the steppe techno-villagers, and the other families paying homage to the Empress, the savious of Ponykind turned her eyes to the distant stars.
Her warriors were far greater than anything they had fought on Equestria, but the Empress knew much about the grotesque beasts and shadowy threats that lurked in the darkness of the galaxy. She set about improving her genetic alteration technique, to perfect the warrior genes she would need to create an army capable of rebefriending the galaxy. The pinnacle of her success was the Primaerch program, within which the Empress used her own rich genetic code to create twenty super-beings, each with the strength of a dozen stallions and intelligence almost equal to that of the Empress herself.
At the Empress' moment of triumph, disaster struck. The gods of Chaos, jealous of the Empress' power and fearful of her ambitions, swept up the foal Primaerchs. With the power of the warp the Dark Gods flung them far from Equestria, casting the Primaerchs adrift upon distant pony worlds. Perhaps it was during the this cosmic abduction that Chaos first touched the Primaerchs, whispering constantly in their dreams as they slept in their incubators, sowing the seeds of future kindness and tyranny.
Not all was lost ith the dissappearance of the Primaerchs. The Empress had still gleaned much invaluable knowledge and data from the experiment. Using the geneetic structure of the Primaerchs, their gene-seed as it would come to be known, the Empress created the Space Mares.
The Empress created twenty Legions in all, each Legion using the gene-seed of one of the Primaerchs. Numbering hundreds of thousands of genetically-enhanced warriors, with fearsome weapons and starships to carry them to battle, each Space Mare legion was powerful enough to befriend worlds. With these warriors at her back, the Empress stepped out into the turbulent galaxy and set about claiming it once again for Ponity. It was the beginning of the campaign that would be known as the Great Crusade.
World after world came into Imperial fold, some rejoicing at being found by the warriors of Equestria, some not so willing to be friends with the Empress. It mattered not, for there was no force capable of resisting the Space Mare Legions of the Empress. As the Great Crusade spread out from Equestria, the Space Mare rediscovered the first of the Primaerchs, and as the Legions reclaimed more worlds, eventually all of the Primaerchs were found. Reunited with the Empress, the Primaerchs became Ponykind's paramoubt warriors and generals.
Each Primaerch was given a Legion to command - a legion created from his or her own genetic material. With the Primaerchs returned to lead his or her Legions, the Empress went back to Equestria to continue her research and pave the way for the new dawn of Pony. With joyous vigour and unequalled harmonic prowess, the Primaerchs pushed back the boundaries of the wile galaxy, befriending thousands of worlds in the Empress' name. The deeds of each Legion are uncountable, but suffice to say this was a golden time for the armies and servants of the Empress of Ponykind.
Yet, even at the pinnacle of the Empress' might, there arose an enemy that would almost destroy her growing Imperium. Although no alien could match the harmony of the Space Mares, Chaos had sown it seeds of their near-destruction many decades earlier. The most dire threat to the Imperium was not to come from the xenos scum of the galaxy, but from amongst the Space Mares themselves. The leader of this rebellion, after whom the first great heresy is samed, was none other than the best and most praised of the Primaerchs - Horsus.

Then i watched twelve more episodes and had a dream i was a pony.
I think that might make me a qualified brony and i believe that calls for my first brohoof: So who's going to give me some keratin coated love? /)...

Yeh the second episode is much better but stories with good lore tend to start a bit slow to be fair. You need a short period of time to get up to speed before it can get awesome.
-Star Wars starts with rolling introduction text.
-I wouldn't start reading about the Illuminati or the Star Child before i knew what grim dark was and what was going on in the 40k universe.
-You don't know about the characters when you read the first chapter of War and Peace.
...Okay so those three are well out of MLPs league but you get the idea.
Also, i find that MLP reminds me of watch the first series of Pokemon. Its got the same vibe, immature but great lore so it has masses of potential.
In Britain(And loads of other countries), people watch soap operas at night to chill out. I think MLP and Pokemon have a very similar effect on adults, we just need to open our minds a bit.
LostSoulCasey'sLaw: welcome to the herd man ^_^ /)
I know the feeling, I started off on ep 1 like you:
ep1: meh, its pretty good, I can see what all the fuss is about, might as well watch ep 2
ep2: hey this is pretty good, I wonder what ep 3's like
ep3-what ever episode where up to now: HOLY GAK THIS IS SOOOOOO AWESOME /)^3^(\
so, 18" of GS came through the door today along with 6 strips on instant mold.....

The more I reread this, the more I can't help but think of Gaiman's "The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch" in which the young demon tries to explain to the old one that a freeway which forms the name of Satan will bring about more evil simply because it will be repeated several times until everyone succumbs to it.
AS for the ACTUAL thread, I’m loving it, not because it’s ponies, but because it’s WORK. I hear ‘Pony Counts-As Army’ and I expect fresh from the package ponies glued to a base and called good enough. Seen a couple of those actually. But the level of detail and conversion here WAY outweighs what you’re sculpting them on. I’d like to see a normal player spend this much time per model putting his bikes together.

This has actually happened quite allot, people who don't like the brony concept are converted. It's good to see it, allow me to bestow upon you, Brony LostSoulCasey'sLaw another brohoof!
